3. Verify You Use 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi

Sometimes, error code 103 Toniebox appears because your dual-band router automatically combines the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Wi-Fi networks.

This feature is designed to merge both your Wi-Fi frequencies to one band, allowing ALL your devices to connect, regardless of whether they support both or just the 2.4 GHz.

Well, with Toniebox such a feature on your router must be causing error 103 to occur!

This feature is sometimes called “Smart Connect”, “Smart Wi-Fi”, “Band-Steering” or else, and to stop it, you’ll need to enter your router’s GUI.

This is significantly easy, but locating the exact setting is up to you.

Note: Skip this step if your router only supports 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi, or you have 2 separate Wi-Fi networks!

How to Access Wi-Fi Router Interfaces?

  1. Sit on a PC, connected to your router via Ethernet.
  2. Open a web browser and type “https://192.168.0.1”
  3. Sign-in details: admin/admin or admin/password.

When you’re in your router’s GUI, look for the aforementioned setting, or ask Google for a more specific label of this router feature.

When you disable it, restart your router and re-try the Toniebox setup wizard.

Note: When you disable the feature, you must have 2 different Wi-Fi networks, so connect your Toniebox to the one working on a 2.4 GHz frequency.

4. Connect Toniebox to Hotspot

Note: The only requirement to share a hotspot from your smartphone is to have available mobile data!
