The Toniebox includes a fixed auto-turn-off feature, for battery preservation which automatically powers off the music box after 10 minutes of inactivity.

If your Toniebox won’t turn off after 10 minutes of inactivity, the first thing to try is a soft reset, which is only a system restart.

This will reboot the operating system, and hopefully fix potential issues with the inactivity timer!

Here’s how to reboot your Toniebox in easy steps:

  1. First, remove the Toniebox from the charging station.
  2. Turn the music box upside down (ears facing down).
  3. Press and hold both ears until you hear the chime.
  4. Info: Hold both ears for approximately ~10 seconds.

This will power off your Toniebox. To power on your Toniebox, press one of the ears or connect the music box to the charging station.

If you have an activated Tonies on your Toniebox, or there is an ongoing audio track, the music box will not turn on or initiate the inactivity timer.

Hence, before continuing any further, verify that there are no Tonies on your Toniebox and no music is playing to verify the device is on standby.

Then start a timer and patiently wait 11–12 minutes to check whether the Toniebox will remain on.

We recommend observing the LED, which tells you whether the Toniebox is working or not.

Quick Tip: We also recommend disconnecting the Toniebox from the charging station!

3. Wait for Updates/Downloading

It’s highly likely that the Toniebox is updating or downloading, which prevents the box from automatically turning off.

The software upgrades on Toniebox install automatically as long as the music box is connected to a Wi-Fi network, during which time the Toniebox stays on.

This is why it’s important to ensure that the Wi-Fi that Toniebox is connected to is accessible, otherwise an update may be paused/pending.

4. Reset Toniebox to Default

Well, even though you can’t stop the auto-turn-off function, if your Tonie box won’t turn off after 10 minutes of inactivity, you may be facing a software issue.

The best way to deal with system problems is to perform a well-known factory reset, which will reinstall the operating software.

Warning: The factory reset will unpair your Toniebox from the Wi-Fi, erase all your downloaded contents and reset all settings to default.
