The 6 Best Ways to Fix Nanit Not Showing Temperature!
Note: Have you tried setting the Nanit camera to “Off” using the built-in “Power” button?
1. Verify “Live Feed” is Full Screen
The temperature and humidity can be only viewed if the live feed of your nursery is set to full screen.
The readings will appear at the top of the live feed near the corner of the screen when your Nanit camera is switched to full screen on your mobile device.
To set the camera’s feed on full screen, open the Nanit app, go to “Live” and search for the expand button.
The icon displays several arrow figures pointing towards each other and pressing it once should set the broadcast to full screen right away.
2. Unplug Your Nanit for 30 Seconds
One of the reasons why the Nanit temperature not showing is because of a temporal issue with the camera unit.
This can be solved easily by unplugging the Nanit camera for approximately 30 seconds, while it is still attached to the stand.
Follow these steps to discharge the Nanit camera’s power supply:
- Locate the back panel of the Nanit camera device.
- Push the power switch towards the “OFF” side.
- Disconnect the Nanit camera’s power adapter.
- Wait for 40 seconds while the unit is unplugged.
- Reconnect the cable and push the power to ON.
The Nanit camera may require up to a full minute to fully reboot and restore the broadcast within the “Live” tab.
In the meantime, you can check if there’s physical damage to the power cord of the camera or any of the stand’s segments.
3. Inspect the Camera’s Stand Setup
The improper positioning of the Nanit camera could certainly influence the temperature readings and cause them to fluctuate.
The Nanit camera’s stand consists of individual segments that can be connected with one another to create a regulatable holder.
The top piece (camera segment) holds the Nanit unit in position, allowing it to monitor your baby and pick up accurate temperature readings.
The first and most important thing is to verify that each of the segments has properly *clicked*.
Then, verify that the Nanit camera is in place and secure it properly with the top segment piece.
Where and How to Position the Nanit Camera Properly?
For the most accurate temperature detection, we recommend placing the camera away from heat conductors or devices that can potentially emit heat.
It’s also recommended to place the camera in an open space (prevent covering it with something) as far from a wall as possible.
4. Update the Nanit Camera’s Version
You can quickly address the Nanit not showing temperature problem by updating the operating version of the Nanit camera.
All you need to do is make sure that both the Nanit camera and your smartphone have established a proper connection to the Wi-Fi network.
Here’s how to check for a more recent version for Nanit:
- Launch the Nanit app on your phone and tap the side menu.
- Optional: If you have multiple units, tap the affected camera.
- Select “[Your Baby]’s settings” from the configuration menu.
- Go to “Advanced” and check under the “Firmware Version”.
- If a newer build is available, follow the steps to update Nanit.
How to Update the Nanit Mobile App?
It’s also important to verify that the Nanit app is operating on the most current firmware version!
Here’s how to update the app on both Android and iPhone:
- Android: Open the Google Play Store, go to “Profile” and tap “Manage Installed Apps” to locate the Nanit app.
- iPhone: Open the App Store, tap on your profile icon, and scroll to the “Pending updates and release notes” to locate the Nanit app.
Note: If the camera or app update fails, check the Wi-Fi and broadband connection status!
5. Setup a Temperature Alert on the Nanit
Similar to other monitoring nurseries, the Nanit camera allows you to set up a temperature alert that will notify you when it reaches a certain threshold.
The alert has two threshold values “Minimum Temperature” and “Maximum Temperature” threshold.
You can assign custom temperature values for either of the thresholds, and you will receive an automated application notification when the readings go over each of the thresholds.
Here’s how to set a temperature alert on Nanit:
- Open the Nanit app and tap the side menu for more options.
- Tap the Nanit camera you want to adjust, if you have multiple.
- Then, select your baby’s settings from the on-screen settings.
- Tap “Notifications” and scroll down to “Temperature Alerts.”
- Finally, enable the feature and adjust two custom thresholds.
This is a clever way of testing the Nanit camera’s internal temperature sensor.
So, if your phone does receive a notification from the temperature alerts, it means there aren’t any sensor issues.
6. Restore the Camera to Initial Settings
In case the Nanit temperature and humidity not showing after everything you’ve tried, it’s time to conduct a full camera reset.
The procedure involves erasing all of your camera’s settings, which should initially address the temperature readings fault.
Here’s how to reset the Nanit camera:
- Ensure the camera is receiving a stable power supply.
- Locate the reset button or reset pinhole on the back.
- Press the reset button for roughly 10 seconds to start.
- Wait until the camera powers off and wait for the reset.
After about 1–2 minutes, the Nanit camera should be fully operational and error-free!
One More Thing: Reinstall the Nanit App!
While waiting for the camera to reset, it’s also recommended to reinstall the Nanit app in order to erase all of the generated cache (excess files.)
Here’s how:
- Open the Google Play Store or App Store on your phone.
- Navigate to the “Apps” section and locate the Nanit app.
- Open the quick settings of the app and choose “Uninstall.”
- Wait until the app is removed and download it again, freshly.
Upon reinstalling the app, you will be prompted to sign in with your Nanit account and re-add the camera.
Verify to check if the temperature measurements appear, prior to adjusting the settings.
