babysense monitor not turning on

Your Babysense monitor not turning on, and you’re wondering why? This guide is for you!

Well, sudden unresponsiveness and the black screen of the Babysense parent unit could be an indication of a charging issue, a system fault, or a battery malfunction.

The problem is solvable with either of these solutions:

  • Ensure the Babysense monitor is charged to maximum capacity.
  • Check if there’s a fault with the parent unit’s charging equipment.
  • Perform a forced reboot sequence on the Babysense parent unit.
  • Initiate a factory reset on the defective Babysense monitoring unit.
  • Take out and inspect the internal battery of the Babysense device.

Proceed with the guide for a thorough walkthrough of the solutions above!

How to Fix Babysense Monitor Not Turning On in Easy Steps?

Note: Have you verified that the Babysense parent unit does not respond at all?

1. Charge the Monitor to the Max Battery

charge the monitor to the max battery

The first step is to ensure that the Babysense monitor is charged to the maximum battery capacity.

Not allowing the unit to charge fully or unplugging it often at halfway charge could degrade the battery and cause the monitor to turn off whenever it reaches low percentages.

According to the manual, it takes approximately 8 hours for the parent unit to charge fully! So, allow the unit to charge for at least several hours before attempting to start it up again.

How to “Force” Reboot the Babysense Monitor?

To perform a forced reboot, ensure the Babysense monitor is connected to a charger and hold the “Power” button for a minimum of 30 seconds.

This will drain the residue power supply and jump-start the battery of the parent unit, hopefully eliminating the fault and turning the device on.

2. Check Baby Monitor’s Brightness Level

check baby monitor’s brightness level

Believe it or not, a too-low brightness might make it seem like the Babysense monitor is not working or has encountered a critical fault and cannot be turned on.

There’s a function in the menu that allows for the regulation of the screen’s brightness, so it’s worth checking this one.

However, first, let’s test the backlight!

2.1 How to Test Babysense Monitor Backlight?

If the brightness is seemingly lowered, you can use your phone’s flashlight to shine upon the display surface of the monitor.

If you’re able to notice the lit pixels, it means that the brightness has been lowered significantly or has been set to the minimum.

Note: If you see no picture while shining with the flashlight, your baby monitor is not working!

2.2 How to Adjust Brightness On Babysense?

If you can see silhouettes, increase the brightness:

  1. Press the “MENU/OK” button on your Babysense unit.
  2. Use the “PAN/MENU/TILT” buttons to navigate through.
  3. Select “Brightness” from the action menu at the bottom.
  4. Use either of the navigational buttons for the regulation.

Verify the brightness is set to at least 50% and determine if the screen of the baby monitor is now visible.

We recommend conducting all of these steps in a shady or shadowed spot in your home to be able to see and avoid any sunlight from additionally dimming the monitor’s screen.

3. Inspect the Charging of the Parent Unit

A charging fault might have led to your Babysense video monitor not turning on.

The charging equipment of the parent monitor may develop a problem anywhere along with your connections, including the adapter, charging wire, involved third-party equipment, or even the electrical outlet.

So, let’s carefully inspect each of the charging equipment’s components:

3.1 Power Adapter Inspection

power adapter inspection

The first and most important component of the Babysense monitor’s charging equipment is the power adapter.

The Babysense charging cable uses a standard prong connector and cannot be detached from the charging cable.

Ensure there isn’t any damage to the plastic cover of the cable or the adapter’s connectors and if possible, test it on another device that uses the same ports.

If the cable happens to be faulty, you can purchase a new universal cable from Babysense’s website or at any online tech store.

3.2 Electrical Outlet Inspection

A power outlet insufficiency will entirely disrupt the charging flow of the Babysense power unit.

So, we recommend relocating both the baby monitor and its charging equipment to a tested electrical outlet and checking the previous socket using a low-voltage electrical appliance.

3.3 Charging Port Inspection

After making sure there aren’t any faults with the power adapter or the outlet, the next step is to check the charging port of the parent unit.

A solid obstruction or dust accumulation can prevent clear contact with the charging cable and not allow the monitor to charge.

We recommend using an ear stick or a microfiber cloth with some rubbing alcohol to clean all of the debris in and around the parent unit’s charging port.

4. Factory Reset Babysense’s System

If the Babysense monitor not turning on after trying all the steps from above, it’s time for a factory reset.

This procedure is extremely effective if you’re not certain where the problem is and have already conducted most of the common troubleshooting.

factory reset babysense’s system

Here’s how to perform a factory reset on a Babysense monitor:

  1. Ensure your parent unit is connected to the charging adapter.
  2. Locate the “RESET” button on the rear panel, under the stand.
  3. Next, push and hold the button for an average of 5–10 seconds.
  4. Check if there’s any visual indication from the Babysense unit.

Initially, the parent unit may not respond to pressing the “RESET” button.

If so, reconnect the device from the charger and repeat the instructions 3 consecutive times.

Warning: The factory reset will erase all of the baby monitor’s settings!

5. Access & Remove Babysense’s Battery

If neither of the solutions so far restored the functionality of the Babysense parent unit and the product’s warranty has already expired, you might as well manually remove the battery.

This step requires minor technical knowledge and experience, so thoughtfully follow our instructions!

Note: Disassembling the parent unit will void the product’s warranty!

Here’s how to remove the battery of the Babysense unit:

  1. Disconnect the Babysense unit from the power adapter.
  2. Rotate the unit upside down and find the battery latch.
  3. Push the release latches to open the device hardware.
  4. Locate the internal battery and the battery connector.
  5. Unplug the connector from the Babysense motherboard.
  6. Check if there’s any dust or debris on the device’s battery.
  7. Wait for 25–30 seconds and reconnect the unit’s battery.
  8. Check if the Babysense monitor will turn on and respond.

Note: If you’ve reinserted the battery and your Babysense monitor is not turning on, perhaps there is a defective piece of hardware.
