1. Reset the Nanit Camera’s Power Supply

Conducting a power cycle should effectively reboot all services of the Nanit camera and cause it to load the firmware from scratch.

Here’s how to perform a power cycle on your Nanit camera:

1. Detach the Nanit camera unit from the stand segments.
2. Disconnect the USB type-C adapter from Nanit’s back.
3. Unplug the other end from the supplying power adapter.
4. Wait for 45 seconds until the Nanit camera discharges.
5. Reseat the power cable into both the adapter and Nanit.

How to Diagnose Power Issues with a Nanit Camera?

If the camera reboots, powers off, or doesn’t have a consistent function responsiveness, it could often be caused by an issue with the power supply.

All Nanit cameras are designed to be compatible with both Wi-Fi frequency bands, meaning you can switch the device to either a 2.4 GHz or a 5 GHz Wi-Fi.

Here’s how to change the Wi-Fi connection of your Nanit camera:

1. Access the Nanit application on your smartphone.
2. Navigate to the “Settings” tab from the homepage.
3. Go to “Advanced” and tap your Nanit camera below.
4. Next, press “(Re)pair your Nanit with your network.”
5. Follow the on-screen instructions to reconnect Nanit.

Ensure that the Nanit camera is within range of the Wi-Fi router and don’t forget to select the opposing thread of your router.

• If Nanit was hooked up to the 2.4 GHz thread until now, test it on the 5 GHz Wi-Fi instead.

Note: This step won’t work if your router is not dual-band!

3. Update the Nanit App’s OS Version

An inconsistency in the firmware versions of your Nanit camera and the mobile app could cause potential compatibility problems.

3.1 How to Update the Nanit App On a Smartphone?

• If you’re using an Android, open the Google Play Store, tap on your profile icon, head to “Manage Installed Apps,” and check for new firmware.

• If you’re using an iPhone, go to the App Store, tap “My Account” at the bottom, and go to “Pending updates and release notes”.

3.2 How to Check if the Nanit Camera is Up-to-Date?

After verifying that the application is up-to-date, it’s recommended to check if the Nanit camera is also updated.

Occasionally, Nanit may release multiple updates for your Nanit unit, meaning you will have to initiate multiple OS update procedures, one after another to install the latest.

Here’s how to check if the Nanit camera is up-to-date:

1. Open the Nanit application on your smartphone.
2. Access the “Settings” tab within the application.
3. Select the Nanit camera from the devices’ menu.
4. Access the “Advanced” configuration from below.
5. Scroll to the “Firmware Version” field for the data.

Tip: Additionally, you could try clearing the Nanit app’s cache and reinstalling it from the phone!

4. Unpair or “Detach” the Nanit Camera

If the Nanit camera not working after update, it’s recommended to unpair it completely from the app and re-do the registration procedure.

There’s a chance that the firmware update has failed, bugging the camera’s application profile, and causing it to lose function or behave abnormally.

Here’s how to “detach” the Nanit camera in easy steps:

1. Open the Nanit app and tap on your baby camera.
2. Select “Your -Baby Name-’ Settings” from below.
3. Scroll to the “Advanced Settings” tab in the menu.
4. Search for the “Detach Camera” option in the tab.
5. Confirm the profile removal of the Nanit camera.
6. Choose “Add/Replace Camera” on the homepage.
7. Then, select “Set up your Nanit” for further steps.
8. Follow the steps with “Continue with Assembly.”

Alert: All of Nanit’s settings within the app will be permanently erased!

5. Factory Reset the Nanit Camera Product

It’s a last-resort procedure that erases all of your camera’s settings and restores the device to its factory default state.

5.1 How to Factory Reset a Nanit Pro Camera?

1. Ensure the camera is receiving a stable power supply.
2. Locate the recessed “Reset” button on the back panel.
3. Hold the button for roughly 10 seconds to start the reset.
4. Release the button once the camera’s LED blinks in blue.

5.2 How to Factory Reset Nanit Plus & Original Models?

1. Verify that the Nanit camera unit is receiving proper power.
2. Next, find the recessed master button on the back panel.
3. Insert a pin or a paperclip into the reset button’s pinhole.
4. Press the button inside until your camera flashes 2 times.

Once the reset starts, on either of the Nanit models, it typically takes between 3 and 5 minutes to complete.

So, do not unplug the camera from the power or interact with the device in any way until the LED’s behavior restores to normal.
