Nanit Not Turning On – 5 Proven & Working Solutions!

Note: Have you checked if the Nanit camera responds within the application?

1. Reset the Camera’s Power Supply

reset the camera’s power supply

Similar to most baby monitor installations, the Nanit camera too requires a consistent power supply, meaning it must be directly connected to an electrical outlet.

For that purpose, the first step is to conduct a power cycle to drain the camera’s supply and address the startup issue.

Follow these steps to reset the power supply of the Nanit camera:

  1. Disconnect the Nanit camera from the power base.
  2. Unplug the power cable of the base from the outlet.
  3. Wait for 60 seconds while the Nanit unit discharges.
  4. Reconnect the power supply into the outlet and test.

How to Detect Power Issues?

The power issues are often identified in unconditional rebooting, startup problems, or consistent buzzing noises from the electrical supply of the camera.

If your Nanit camera has either of these symptoms, it’s highly likely that there is a problem with one or more of the power components.

2. Secure Nanit Power Connections

secure nanit power connections

The multichannel power supply cable of Nanit travels through multiple camera stand segments and attaches with a power adapter.

If there’s a cable fault anywhere along the way of the stand segments, your Nanit won’t turn on regardless of what you attempt.

How to Inspect Nanit Camera Stand Segments?

As established, the power cord of the camera goes through the entire stand and comes out from the base to connect with a power adapter.

So, push the release latch on each of the stand’s segments to pull out the power cord and have a look.

The power cord is melded with the internal battery of the Nanit stand, so disconnecting it from the camera will not be possible.

However, ensure the elbow piece on the base of the stand securely holds the power cord and disconnects it temporarily to check for any damage.

3. Plug Nanit into a Different Outlet

plug nanit into a different outlet

There’s a strong possibility that the Nanit camera is connected to a malfunctioning power outlet or one that’s missing voltage.

We understand that picking a different spot for your camera might ruin the desired observation environment, but it’s necessary to test on another electrical outlet.

3.1 How to Relocate Your Nanit Camera?

Fortunately, you don’t have to disassemble the stand and base to relocate the Nanit camera.

All you have to do is unplug the power cord and carefully transfer the camera in a 5–10 feet range from a new electrical outlet.

Ensure the power cord reaches into the outlet and test the device.

3.2 How to Tell if a Power Outlet is Bad?

The easiest method to test the functionality of an electrical outlet is to connect a low-voltage electrical appliance and test it.

A quick tip would be plugging in a lamp and observing the light.

3.3 Remove Any Third-Party Equipment:

While testing the Nanit camera’s power supply, it’s extremely important to connect the device’s power adapter to the electrical outlet directly.

Using any type of power cord extenders, surge protectors or strips/dividers could lead to issues with the camera’s power supply.

4. Reset the System of the Nanit Camera

There may be a fault with the system of the Nanit camera, causing the Nanit camera not turning on issue.

Fortunately, you don’t need the Nanit camera to work or load up in order to conduct a factory reset, as there’s an in-built “RESET” button on the camera’s rear panel.

reset the system of the nanit camera

So, ensure the camera is plugged in and press the “RESET” button on the back, located on the right side of the USB type-C port.

Long-pressing the button for about 10 seconds should initiate the factory reset of the Nanit cam.

So, do not interact with or unplug the device for at least 60 seconds after the procedure begins.

5. Replace the Nanit Power Equipment

If the Nanit not turning on after all the steps so far, the final thing to check is if either of the power supply components is faulty.

The electrical supply of the Nanit camera consists of a base that connects with a USB type-C cable and a 2-prong power adapter.

They need to match the camera’s voltage requirements.

We recommend replacing both components to determine if the startup issue is caused by a malfunction with the equipment.

5.1 Replacing Nanit Camera Power Adapter?

The power adapter is much easier to replace as it doesn’t require uninstalling parts from the stand.

All you need to do is disconnect the power cable from the back of the adapter and install a similar replacement that matches the Nanit camera’s voltage.

Note: The replacement adapter’s voltage can be anywhere between 12 and 24 volts!

5.2 Replacing Nanit Camera Power Cable?

To replace the USB type-C power cable, detach the stand’s segments and gently pull out the cable after disconnecting it from the base.

Install a new replacement (all USB type-C cables are universal) and check if the Nanit camera will respond and turn on.
