Hello Baby Monitor Not Charging? (Here’s The Easy Fix!)

If suddenly, the Hello Baby monitor is not charging anymore, you have a limited time to perform any troubleshooting, while losing your observation over your little one.
- The Hello Baby monitor lasts approximately 8 hours on a full charge, considering you’re not using it all of the time.
If there’s a charging issue, the battery will either refuse to charge to maximum capacity or stop charging entirely, which is the worst that can happen.
So, this guide will walk you through guaranteed solutions, to charge your monitor momentarily!
Here’s what we’ll be doing:
Hello Baby Monitor Not Charging – Solved in 8 Instant Steps!
Note: The “Charging” lamp on your Hello Baby monitor should light up if the unit is charging!
1. Secure the Charger’s Connections

The power adapter of the Hello Baby monitor could be loose or unsecured, which will result in persistent startup or functionality problems.
The power adapter for your Hello Baby monitor is as simple as it gets–a 6V, detachable power adapter with a DC cord.
Here’s how to check if the monitor’s adapter is secured:
- First, disconnect the monitor’s charger on both ends.
- Plug the barrel plug securely into the monitor’s port.
- Now, connect the adapter securely to the A/C outlet.
- Check if the “Charging” LED illuminates shortly after.
It takes several seconds for the power supply to reach the battery.
Even if the “Charging” LED does not light up immediately, allow your monitor to stay connected for at least ~60 seconds.
2. Change the Electrical Outlet
There’s a chance that your Hello Baby’s power source is not delivering a sufficient amount of electricity/voltage.
You should test whether the “Charging” LED will illuminate after connecting your monitor to an alternative outlet that’s proven to work.
How to Test an Electrical Outlet?

You can either use a multimeter to measure the positive and ground poles of the outlet.
Attach the testers of the multimeter to each line on your outlet and wait for the readings.
You should be able to see 120 V, and if you see anything below it like 90 V, this means that the outlet is weak.
Note: In case of a recent power outage, you may need to wait for 30–40 minutes before trying to charge your smart home appliances.
3. Uninstall External Equipment
Defective third-party equipment present in the setup of your baby monitor could also contribute to the development of power issues.
Whether you have the standard or audio-enabled monitor series, we recommend connecting the power adapter of the device directly to the wall socket.

Avoid using devices such as:
❌ Power cord extenders
❌ Smart plugs or outlets
❌ Power strips or dividers
Note: Plugging the monitor directly ensures the raw voltage of the outlet will be transformed and converted correctly, without passing through additional rerouting.
4. Clean Monitor’s Charging Port
One of the reasons why the Hello Baby monitor stopped charging is because of obstructions in the charging port.
- The Hello Baby monitor has a DC barrel plug port where the charger plugs in, and it can be found on the side or rear panel.
Cleaning the port is a relatively simple task and all you need is a Q-tip along with some rubbing alcohol.
If your Q-tips at home will not fit into the charging port, consider finding a cotton swab or a toothpick that can reach within and remove potential hair clusters and dust accumulation.

Follow these steps to clean the Hello Baby’s charging port safely:
- Disconnect the charger from the electrical outlet.
- Apply some rubbing alcohol to the Q-tip’s cotton.
- Now, find the charging port on the baby monitor.
- Insert the Q-tip and perform circular movements.
- Wait until the charging port dries for ~5 minutes.
- Reconnect the adapter and check the LED lamp.
Tip: You can use your phone’s flashlight to check if the charging port’s pins are free of dust accumulation or other debris.
5. Hard Reset the Monitor (Outlet-Powered)
So, if you have an audio-enabled Hello Baby monitor, it means the device is outlet-powered and doesn’t have a rechargeable battery.
Unlike the standard Hello Baby, unplugging the cord of the audio-enabled monitor causes the unit to shut down.

- To hard reset the audio-enabled Hello Baby monitor, unplug the power cord from both ends for approximately 30–60 seconds.
In the meantime, check if there are obstructions in the power port and most importantly, inspect the adapter’s condition.
If you’ve noticed any damage to the power adapter, consider purchasing a replacement that’s compatible with the audio-enabled series of Hello Baby.
6. Restore the Monitor’s Settings
The Hello Baby monitor can be reset by inserting a pointy object such as a pin or a paperclip into the small “RESET” button on the back.
After the reset, all settings of the monitor will be reset, and you must also re-add each camera monitoring your baby individually.

Here’s how to factory reset Hello Baby:
- First, verify your monitor is plugged into the charger.
- Now, locate the “RESET” pinhole on the back panel.
- Insert a paperclip or pin, or a safety pin into the hole.
- Hold the button for ~3–5 seconds before releasing it.
- Release once the LED of the monitor turns solid red.
If the monitor’s LED doesn’t illuminate in red, try holding the button for a longer period, and if that doesn’t help either, reinsert the monitor’s battery!
7. Replace the DC Power Adapter
Perhaps, all your monitor needs is a new charging adapter to start functioning again.
Whether it’s the standard Hello Baby or the audio-enabled monitor that’s problematic, the issue is almost certainly caused by the adapter at this point.

If you have a replacement adapter that you can use, feel free to test whether the charging will resume at home to narrow down the circle of possibilities.
Alternatively, purchase a brand-new replacement adapter compatible with the HB50 and HB66 models through the official Hello Baby store on your browser.
Note: Avoid using third-party adapters, even if they are voltage-compatible, as this could quickly defect the monitor’s battery.
8. Reseat the Baby Monitor Battery (Advanced)
If nothing helps and your Hello Baby monitor not charging, then you should try reinserting the battery pack.
After everything you’ve tried, it’s evident that no charge is reaching the battery and one of the potential suspects must be the connection of the battery pack to the motherboard.

The monitor uses a 3500mAh 3.7v rechargeable battery that can be accessed only after the back panel is detached.
Tip: It’s recommended to use a portable heater, so the rear panel can come off more easily.
Here’s how to reconnect your monitor’s battery:
- First, disconnect the baby monitor from the charger.
- Find the gap between the display and the rear panel.
- Insert a prying tool anywhere in the rear panel’s gap.
- Optional: Heat up the monitor’s display with the tool.
- Now, use another prying tool to detach the back panel.
- Next, separate the faceplate from the rear panel gently.
- Unplug the battery’s adapter from the monitor’s board.
- Plug the battery back into the MCB after a few seconds.
- Before closing up the rear panel, test if it will power on.
If the Hello Baby monitor refuses to start after reconnecting the battery, this may further justify that the battery unit is dead.
Hence, you may need to purchase a compatible replacement and cut the safety strips of the current battery pack.
Use a duct tape band to attach the new battery, since the safety strips are unique, and plug the adapter into the MBU (Main Control Board).
