Why Are My Beats Studio Pro Not Charging? (Fix in Minutes!)
Beats Studio Pro not charging? We understand the frustration, especially when you’re caught up in your routine.
No music today? Don’t worry–we got you covered on this one!
This problem could often be related to a dead battery, a faulty cable, an obstruction of the USB Type-C charging port, or, potentially, a power insufficiency.
The guide below takes under 5 minutes to read, and will help you charge your Beats!
How to Fix When the Beats Studio Pro Not Charging?
Note: Have you tried reconnecting the Beats Studio Pro charger multiple times?
1. Inspect the USB Type-C Charger Connections
The charger connections are among the most important things to check when troubleshooting the charging of your Beats Studio Pro.
Improperly seated USB Type-C cable or an obstructed charging port could prevent the headset from receiving power.
Inspect the following charger connections of your Beats Studio Pro:
- USB to Headset: Check the USB–C connection between the headset and adapter.
- USB to Adapter: Inspect the USB connection between the adapter and the USB-C.
- Adapter to Outlet: Inspect the connection between the power adapter and the outlet.
After reconnecting the cable, check if the charging LED on the Beats Studio Pro illuminates, and it starts recharging successfully.
If not, then the problem could be with the electrical source.
2. Use an Alternative Power Source
Perhaps, the power source is to blame for the charging problem of your Beats Studio Pro.
An insufficient or malfunctioning power source prevents the proper charging of the headset, and switching to an alternative power source can help isolate the problem.
First, test the Beats Studio Pro using the original USB Type-C through another outlet, and then connect them to one of the USB ports on your PC or laptop.
Monitor the charging indicator to determine if the charging is successful and try powering off the headset multiple times during.
3. Soft Reset the Beats Studio Pro
A quick, but rather effective soft reset of the headset can address underlying glitches with the software that prevent the device from receiving power.
There’s an in-built function of the Beats Studio Pro that allows you to power them ON and OFF on demand, without erasing anything.
Here’s how to soft reset the Beats Studio Pro easily:
- Hold the Power button on your Beats Studio Pro for 10 seconds.
- Release when the LEDs blink white, then one red, about 3 times.
- Wait until the LED indicator on the Beats Studio Pro stops flashing.
After the soft reset is complete, reconnect the Beats headset to the charger and check for any changes in the indicator.
ZontSound also recommends reconnecting the USB Type-C charger multiple times before proceeding with the next step.
4. Clean the Charging Port of the Beats Studio
Another reason why your Beats Studio Pro won’t charge is the charging port.
Dust or debris on the port contact pins can block the USB–C cable from fully contacting the connectors, which essentially prevents the charging process.
Use a toothpick or SIM ejector tool to clear debris from the pins inside the Beats Studio Pro charging port, but be gentle when reaching in.
Observe the indicator light while connecting to determine if the headset begins charging properly after cleaning.
You could also apply small amounts of rubbing alcohol on a Q-tip to ensure the charging part is free of all obstructions, including other debris that has hardened over time.
5. Test with Replacement Equipment
A defective USB Type-C cable or adapter could prevent the Beats Studio Pro from charging.
ZontSound suggests testing with alternative charging equipment by replacing the USB cable and adapter separately to identify the issue.
5.1 Test with a Different USB-C Cable:
Use a compatible USB-C cable, such as one from your phone charger, to connect the Beats Studio Pro to a power source and check if the indicator illuminates.
If the Beats Studio charges successfully, the original USB-C cable is likely the issue, and if not, the adapter may be at fault.
5.2 Test with an Alternative Adapter:
Switch to another power adapter with matching specs (5V, 1A or higher), connect it to the outlet using the original Beats USB-C cable, and check if the Beats Studio Pro charges.
If the charging is now successful, the problem was with the original adapter.
Note: Test with both the replacement USB-C cable and adapter together to confirm if the headset starts charging.
6. Wait for the Beats Battery to Acclimate
If your Beats Studio Pro refuses to charge right after outdoor use, extreme temperatures might be affecting the battery.
Your headset battery needs approximately half an hour to “warm up” after being used outside, especially during the winter.
Allow the headset to acclimate at room temperature for ~30–40 minutes, then attempt charging again and check the indicator light.
Cold or hot conditions can temporarily impair the charging of the battery, so do not connect the Beats headset with a charger right away after using it outside.
Note: Avoid the temperature extremes, as this could lethally damage the Beats Studio battery!
7. Prevent Overheating of the Headset
It’s not excluded that overheating is behind the sudden charging failure of your Beats Studio Pro, as various factors could affect the internal hardware temperature of the components.
So, we recommend following several “anti-overheating” guidelines to drop down the temperatures:
- Pause the usage: Temporarily stop using the headset until the heat stabilizes.
- Cool environment: Refill the headset battery in a well-ventilated, cool space.
- Avoid direct sunlight: Prevent direct sunlight from flashing onto the headset.
Note: Although overheating in headphones is rare, if the battery has been exposed to a severe heat source, it may refuse to charge until it’s cool.
8. Reset the Beats Headset to Factory Defaults
So, if your Beats Studio Pro is not charging, one of the last things left to attempt is a complete factory reset.
All of the Beats headset’s pairing data will be erased, but this procedure yields significant effectiveness against any type of underlying functionality problems with the headset.
Follow these steps to factory reset the Beats Studio Pro:
- Hold the Power button on your Beats Studio Pro for ~10 seconds.
- Release when the LEDs blink white, then one red, about 3 times.
- Wait for the lights to stop flashing, confirming the reset is complete.
Note: Contact Beats support if your headset still faces charging or pairing issues!
