Beats Studio Pro Microphone Not Working – Try These Fixes!
Note: Have you tested your Beats Studio Pro microphone with a different device?
1. Unmute the Beats Studio Pro Microphone
The most obvious reason why the microphone of your headset won’t work is that it is muted.
It is surprisingly easy to push the Mute button on the side, especially when adjusting the volume with the “VOL+” and “VOL-”.
So, checking if your microphone is muted should be the first step. Follow these steps to unmute the Beats Studio Pro:
- Verify the headset is paired and call a friend or a family member.
- Locate the “b” button outside the left ear cup of the headphones.
- After that, push the Beats b logo once to unmute the microphone.
- Check if the microphone is muted and press it again, just to verify.
Note: The mute/unmute function is only operational during calls, so without being on a call, pressing the “b” button does not do anything.
2. Grant the “Call” App Microphone Permission
The calling application on the smartphone may not have permission to access the microphone, which is why the Beats Studio Pro microphone is not working on iPhone, Android, Windows, or macOS.
To rule out this fault, you have to grant microphone permission through the calling app.
Tip: Head to System Settings → Sound → Input on PC to ensure Beats are set as the default input device, thus the microphone.
3. Reset Beats Studio Pro Headset OS
A quick but highly effective solution would be to reset the Beats Studio Pro to default settings.
This solution forces the Beats headphones to reset everything, which clears out any temporary glitches, software errors, and even Bluetooth interference from other nearby wireless devices.
Follow these steps to factory reset the Beats Studio Pro:
- First, locate the Power button on the right ear cup.
- Push the Power button for 10 seconds and release.
- Next, wait until all five LEDs have flashed white.
- Then, one light will flash red for 3 consecutive times.
- After all indicator bulbs stop flashing, the reset is done.
After resetting, you will have to re-pair the headphones with your device, since the reset erases all registered Bluetooth devices.
Get on a call and speak to check if the mic is working properly.
4. Switch to a Wired Cable Connection
Another helpful but temporary fix is to set up a wired connection between the Beats Studio Pro headphones and your Bluetooth device.
Although this discards the headset’s wireless functionality deliberately, it is an effective way to determine if the issue is wireless-related.
Here’s how to set up a wired connection with Beats Studio Pro:
- Acquire the included USB-C cable or 3.5mm analog audio cable.
- Connect one end of the cable to the headphone jack on the side.
- Then, connect the other end to the input jack of the audio device.
- When prompted on the audio device, switch to a standard USB.
- Start a call and check if the recipient can hear you loud and clear.
Potential issues with the wireless connection could also cause the Beats Studio Pro to cut out persistently or misbehave in many other ways.
So, switching to wired should resolve all of this.
5. Clean the Beats Studio Pro Microphone
Another reason why the microphone is not working could be due to an obstruction.
A potential object/liquid in the microphone grilles might get inside over time, which prevents your voice from going in uninterrupted.
Use a Q-tip and a small microfiber cloth with small bits of rubbing or isopropyl alcohol to clean the surface of the microphone grilles.
Also, allow the surface to fully dry up, or use a dry cloth to accelerate the process, and test the functionality by getting on a call.
Tip: If you use Beats Studio Pro regularly, frequently clean the mic to prevent debris buildup!
6. Fully Charge the Beats Headphones
Perhaps the low battery is causing your Beats headset to misbehave, which could lead to a variety of problems, including loss of functionality of the microphone.
ZontSound suggests fully charging the Beats Studio Pro before testing the microphone again.
It is also quite important to use the original and included USB-C charging cable for all of the charging sessions, to avoid damaging the internal battery.
Allow the headset to charge for at least an hour and make sure that while the equipment is charging, to avoid any type of using and listening.

7. Forget & Re-add the Beats Studio Headset
If your Beats Studio Pro microphone is not working on PC, laptop, or smartphone when you are using a wired connection, the reason could be an unstable Bluetooth connection.
This would ultimately prevent your voice from being transmitted through the connected source device.
Quick Tip: ZontSound suggests forgetting and re-adding the Beats Studio Pro, which erases the profile of the device entirely.
Forget and Reconnect the Beats Studio Pro on iPhone:
First, access the iPhone Settings and Bluetooth menu, and tap the “i” icon in front of the Beats Studio Pro name.
Next, press “Forget This Device” and push the System button on the Beats headphones to activate pairing.

Forget and Reconnect the Beats Studio Pro on Android:
Open the Settings menu, go to Connected devices → Bluetooth, then tap the gear icon in front of your Beats Studio Pro and tap Forget.
Now, put the headphones in pairing mode (push the System button) and reconnect from the Bluetooth menu.
Forget and Reconnect the Beats Studio Pro on Windows:

After this, activate pairing mode on the headphones and from within the Bluetooth screen, choose Beats Studio Pro.

Push the System button on the Beats Studio Pro headphones for a while, then complete the initial Bluetooth setup from the Devices menu.
Important: Set the Beats Studio Pro as the default input after the Bluetooth reprogramming.
8. Update the OS of your Connected Devices
Incompatibility is another leading cause why the Beats Studio Pro microphone is not working, as well as other audio-related problems.
So, the headset (as well as the output device) must be up-to-date to work in unison with your device’s system and not encounter potential mic issues.
Here’s how to update your smart device OS:
