It’s maddening when a gadget decides to flake out, right? Don’t worry–we got you covered here!
Some of the most common causes include:
Starting with the most important…
How to Tell if eufy Doorbell is Charging?
The only indication that your eufy doorbell is charging would be the illumination of the indicator’s ring upon successful connection with the micro-USB charger.
As soon as your doorbell reaches maximum charging capacity, the indicator will go off and you can safely reconnect the faceplate.
Your doorbell is connected, but no indication, then it’s not charging. So, let’s get this resolved!
eufy Doorbell Not Charging – 9 Proven Ways to Fix!
Note: If your eufy doorbell has been exposed to extremely high temperatures, and the battery is overheating, that’s why it’s refusing to charge!
1. Use a Compatible Charger

Your first step is to ensure you’re using a compliant charger for refilling the battery of your eufy doorbell.
Technicians from eufy state that the doorbell’s battery will only charge if it’s connected with a 5V/2A or 5V/1A micro-USB-to-USB2.0/3.0 cable and a proven-to-work 120V/220V outlet.
The doorbell’s micro-USB charging port can be found on the back of the faceplate, meaning it must be first detached from the mounting base.
Use the detaching pin provided by eufy to press into the pinhole on the top, and gently remove the faceplate, without damaging the hardware.
2. Inspect eufy’s Connections
Among the most probable causes for eufy’s charging problem are loose adapter connections.
The charging equipment of your eufy doorbell consists of three components–a charging adapter, a micro-USB cable, and a power source that could be either a wall outlet or the eufy HomeBase.

There are a total of three connections in eufy’s charging setup:
- The connection between the USB cable and the adapter.
- The connection between the USB cable and the doorbell.
- The connection between the adapter and the power outlet.
Verify that each of these connections is secured and connected as they should.
Then, proceed to check if the eufy doorbell is receiving a charge.
3. Check eufy’s Charging Port
If the problem is not with the charger, then it’s almost certain that the charging port of your eufy doorbell is either obstructed or defective.
The brass-made pins inside the port connect with the micro-USB end of your compatible charger, which allows the rechargeable eufy battery to refill.
How to Tell if the Port is Obstructed?

To inspect the charging port, detach the faceplate and shine your phone’s flashlight onto the charging pins of the port.
Then, check if there’s any buildup of dust or debris on or around the charging pins of the connector.
How to Clean eufy’s Charging Port?
If there is indeed a buildup of debris, your best friend here will be, you guessed it–a Q-tip.
If the Q-tip won’t fit into the port with its standard amount of cotton, try removing some of the fibers to squeeze it through.
Now, perform extremely gentle circular movements to collect as much of the debris as possible, and then carefully take the Q-tip out.
Note: You can also use a toothpick, but be very gentle not to damage the pins within the port!
4. Switch to a Different Outlet
When eufy doorbell battery not charging, in most cases, is related to an issue with the outlet.
That’s why the next step is to charge the eufy doorbell through a proven power source in your home, without adding any extra equipment, such as electrical strips, dividers, or smart plugs.

A defective/malfunctioning outlet may consistently cause the doorbell to stop charging or reboot.
5. Unpair eufy From the App
Some doorbells may encounter issues while charging due to configuration problems within the app.
So, we recommend removing your doorbell’s profile from the app, charging it to maximum capacity, and then recreating the device profile.

To remove the doorbell:
- Open the eufy app and tap “eufy Care” at the top.
- Click “More” then tap on your eufy doorbell below.
- Scroll to the bottom of the doorbell device options.
- Select “Remove Device” and then press “Delete”.
- Now, wait until the eufy is uninstalled successfully.
To re-add the doorbell:
- Open the eufy app and navigate to the homepage.
- Tap on the “Add Device” symbol at the top panel.
- Next, select the type of device you will be adding.
- After that, follow the on-screen setup instructions.
If your doorbell only charges while it’s removed from the app, consider reinstalling the eufy Security app or resetting the doorbell in step #8.
6. Charge eufy Via the HomeBase
An effective workaround when your eufy doorbell camera not charging is to use the HomeBase instead of an electrical outlet.
As it is still uncertain where exactly the charging problem is, using the built-in USB 2.0/3.0-compliant port on the HomeBase is an excellent way to test and identify.

Simply connect the standard USB end of the charger to the HomeBase and plug the micro-USB into the back of the faceplate.
Wait several seconds and check if the ring indicator on your eufy doorbell illuminates and the device starts charging.
If not, well, the charging problem is not from the power source.
7. Replace the Cable and Adapter
So, if you still haven’t managed to charge the battery of the eufy doorbell, the only possibilities left are the USB cable or the power adapter.
For testing purposes, we recommend replacing both of the components one by one, to check if the doorbell starts charging to identify the culprit.

First, replace the USB cable:
- Unplug the USB cable from the doorbell and the outlet, then install a compatible 5V/2A or a 5V/1A-compliant replacement with the existing adapter.
Then, replace the adapter:
- Use the current USB cable but replace the charging adapter with another compatible 12V-24V replacement to check if the doorbell charges.
Finally, test with both:
- Install the replacement USB cable and adapter to check if the eufy doorbell’s battery manages to charge.
Note: If the doorbell receives refuse power with the adapter and USB cable replaced, it’s not an equipment-related fault.
8. Reset eufy to Default Settings
If nothing helped that far, perhaps a factory reset will.
You can solve most of the eufy doorbell issues by activating a complete system restoration.
The “Sync” button found on the back of the faceplate restores the default configuration of all doorbell settings, including those in your app.

- To access the “Sync” button, the doorbell’s faceplate must be detached from the wall mount and to start the reset, you must hold it for 15 seconds.
Verify that while holding the “Sync” button, your doorbell is plugged in with the charger, and wait for the indicator ring to illuminate.
So, if the ring only illuminates after holding the “Sync” button, it means that your eufy doorbell’s battery still has some charge to undergo the reset procedure.
Warning: Any data loss after the factory reset is irreversible!
9. Reinsert eufy’s Battery (Advanced)
If the eufy doorbell is not charging, it’s time for a battery replacement.
Well, the procedure is considered “Advanced” as eufy’s manufacturers did not intend for users to freely access the doorbell’s hardware and take out or replace the battery.
The exact battery your eufy Video Doorbell uses is the 21700 M50LT which holds about 6500mAh per charge.

To access the hardware, you must first remove the faceplate and use a prying tool to split open the frontal and rear ends of the doorbell.
Only then, you can apply slight force to the terminals until the rear end comes off securely.
To reinsert the battery:
- Hold the battery pack and push it against the MCU.
- Ensure the battery comes loose from both terminals.
- Next, lift the battery away from eufy’s control board.
- Hold the “Sync” button on the back of the faceplate.
- Reseat the battery into the bed of the control board.
- Close the rear end of the faceplate and test the eufy.
Note: If you don’t want to deal with a defective battery, we recommend claiming your warranty!
