Why Does Eufy Doorbell Rings By Itself? (Easy Fixes!)

You open your door, only to find no one there—yet again, your eufy doorbell rings by itself.
This random ringing can be puzzling, leaving you wondering whether it’s a technical glitch or something interfering with the system.
Factors such as interference, faulty wiring, and even a moisture buildup could be causing your doorbell to sound instead of a living person.
Don’t worry–by the end of this guide, you will know how to fix this problem, so keep reading!
How to Fix When the Eufy Doorbell Rings By Itself?
Tip: Follow the steps consecutively!
1. Check for Ringing Pattern

When your eufy doorbell rings, you might think it’s a false alarm, but you have to check anyway to be sure nobody’s standing there.
If there’s no one, then your eufy doorbell is ringing by itself again, so let’s try to identify the pattern first.
Searching for a Pattern:
If the ringing selectively occurs at particular times throughout the day, 3 PM, for example, or 3 AM in the middle of the night, the doorbell could be trying to tell you something.
After dismissing the case of a potential visitor or a prankster, there may be a pending update, or your system hasn’t been set to “Armed”.
So, if there’s no pattern to the ringing and the alarm is entirely random, then it almost certainly has something to do with the power supply or detection.
2. Power Reset the Doorbell
The counterfeit ringing can occur on both hardwired and battery-powered eufy doorbell models.
Hence, a power reset can clear most of the doorbell’s issues, especially if the ringing is caused by fluctuations in the power supply (hardwired) or insufficient battery charge (battery-powered).
How to Power Reset a Hardwired eufy?

- Turn off the power at the circuit breaker for the system.
- Remove the doorbell faceplate from the mounting plate.
- Next, use the supplied screwdriver to loosen the plate.
- Then, carefully pull out the mounting plate from the wall.
- Remove the chime wires from the doorbell’s terminals.
- Wait for several seconds until the doorbell is discharged.
- Reseat the wires of the system onto the mounting plate.
- Place the faceplate back on the doorbell’s mounting base.
How to Power Reset a Battery-Powered Eufy?
- Use the doorbell detaching pin to uninstall the faceplate.
- Push the doorbell’s faceplate upward until it comes loose.
- Now, locate the charging port on the back of the faceplate.
- Plug the faceplate with the charger and wait ~10 seconds
- Remove the doorbell and check if the ringing is still there.
If you have a problem with your battery-powered 2K video doorbell, the self-ringing could persist even when the doorbell is not on the mounting plate.
This will exclude possibilities such as false motion detection or dirty detection sensors.
3. Temporarily Disable Notifications

A solution that shouldn’t be considered in the long run is to temporarily disable the eufy Security app’s alerts.
Whether you use the hardwired or battery-operated eufy doorbell, the method of receiving motion alerts remains identical.
- To stop eufy’s notifications on an Android, open “Settings,” tap “Notifications,” go to “Most recent,” find “eufy Security,” hit “Notifications” again, and then flip it to “Off.”
- For an iPhone, head to “Settings,” pick “Apps,” tap “eufy Security,” go to “Notifications,” and switch “Allow Notifications” to off so it quits bugging you.
This will prevent the false alarms from the app for the time being!
So, keep the notifications disabled for at least half an hour and determine if the ghost ringing persists.
In the meantime, let’s check if your doorbell’s activity zones are adjusted correctly!
4. Configure the Activity Zones

If there is no person outside and the Eufy doorbell is ringing by itself, it could be a passing car or an animal due to improperly configured activity zones.
The “Activity Zones” function defines your doorbell’s exact capture area for motion detection and recording.
The default motion area uses the doorbell’s entire live feed, which means that the camera could capture anything that moves inside the POV.
Here’s how to manually adjust eufy’s activity zones:
- Open the eufy Security app, then go to “Camera Settings”.
- Go to “Motion Detection,” then tap on the “⊕” icon at the top.
- Now, wait for the current activity zone to appear on the screen.
- Assign a custom configuration for the doorbell’s activity zones.
- Save the changes, exit the tab, and check for the false alarms.
Pro Tip: We recommend adding only the front door and yard space into the activity zones!
5. Troubleshoot the Application

The false ringing on older eufy doorbells might be an indication of a pending OS update of the app or even an issue with the Wi-Fi connection.
We recommend running the eufy app through several stages of troubleshooting to ensure all options are functional.
Let’s start with an OS update!
Update the eufy Application
Start things off by opening the App Store if you’ve got an iPhone or the Google Play Store for an Android, then poke around in your profile settings.
Next, head over to the Apps or Updates tab, locate the eufy Security app, to see if there’s a newer version of the system, which you can get.
Clear the eufy App’s Cache
You can clear the eufy Security app’s cache on your Android mobile to resolve potential issues related to corrupted data or impaired functions.
So, simply access the “Storage” prompt of your Android smartphone, find the eufy application, and press on “Clear Data” and/or “Clear Cache”.
Tip: If you’re on an iPhone, go to “Settings” → “General” → “iPhone Storage” → “eufy Security” and temporarily offload the platform.
Reinstall the eufy App

If nothing is fixing your problem, try erasing the Eufy app, cleaning, and starting fresh on your iPhone or Android.
You can uninstall it by going through the settings or just by pressing and holding the application’s icon on your home screen till some choices pop up, then tapping on “Delete App”.
6. Tweak the Detection Sensitivity
The detection sensitivity defines the intensity of movement required within the activity zone for a motion detection event to be initiated.
Setting your sensitivity to “Low” could reduce the number of false alarms but also makes it more difficult for the eufy doorbell camera to initiate recordings.

Here’s how to access and tweak eufy’s detection sensitivity:
- Open the eufy app, then go to the camera settings tab.
- After that, scroll down to the “Motion Detection” field.
- Find the “Detection Sensitivity” slider within the page.
- Reduce the sensitivity by several values in the settings.
- Save the changes and check if the false ringing persists.
A “Low” sensitivity is considered anything below “Value: 3” in the options.
The recommended sensitivity area should be between “3” and “5”, as anything above “5” is considered as “High”.
7. Check for Any ‘Ghost Presses’
High humidity, rain, and even static electricity are among the causes behind the ghost presses of your doorbell, causing it to ring by itself.
Extreme weather conditions or persistent rain could cause a buildup of moisture underneath your doorbell’s button.
This could impact the button mechanism and cause the doorbell to go off constantly by itself.
Solutions for eufy Doorbell ‘Ghost Presses’:

- Consider installing a weather cover for the eufy device.
- Try to install a DIY cover around and in front of the unit.
- Check for any moisture buildup underneath the faceplate.
Generally, keeping the doorbell clean and dry throughout heavy weather conditions ensures the hardware will be preserved from potential moisture and debris.
It is also recommended to periodically remove the faceplate to check for accumulation of dust within the mounting plate, which could be interfering.
You Might Have Been Hacked!
Although this is an extremely rare possibility, someone might have taken control of your eufy Security account and is still playing with your doorbell’s alerts.
If you’re unsure whether someone has unauthorized access to your account, immediately get in touch with eufy’s Customer Support.
8. Reset the eufy Doorbell System

A software-related problem is another reason why the Eufy doorbell rings by itself.
A drastic yet highly effective solution is to perform a factory reset, regardless of whether your doorbell is hardwired to a power supply or runs on a battery.
- To reset the doorbell, detach the faceplate and insert a small pin or toothpick into the “Reset” pinhole on the rear panel.
Release the button after 10–15 seconds to allow the eufy doorbell’s factory reset. Ensure the doorbell is not in use during the reset, and check the status within the eufySecurity application.
Note: If your eufy doorbell keeps ringing by itself, the issue could be on a hardware level, so get in touch with the support team or try claiming your warranty.
