1. Adjust the Night Vision

If your eufy baby monitor’s night vision isn’t lighting up, the settings could be the culprit.

There’s an individual night vision setting for both indoor and outdoor eufy cameras, available within the eufy mobile application.

Here’s what to do:

  1. Open the eufy app and tap “My Device” on the main tab.
  2. Pick your Indoor/Outdoor Cam from the list that pops up.
  3. Go to “Camera Settings” and look for “Auto Night Vision.”
  4. After that, slide the feature’s toggle to the right to turn it on.

Then, take the camera to a dark spot. If there is no outside light, you must see black-and-white pictures. If the lightning is in the area, it’ll show color instead.

Also, check the live video, there’s a night vision button you can press to switch it on.

2. Unplug the Camera & Monitor

If the night vision still isn’t showing up, both the camera and the monitor might need a temporary “reset”.

Performing a power cycle on both devices can reset underlying errors and restore the night vision’s functionality in no time.

It takes less than 60 seconds to power cycle both devices.

  1. Find the power cord hooked up to your eufy camera.
  2. Next, unplug it from the outlet and the camera’s port.
  3. Wait for 30 to 45 seconds so it completely shuts off.
  4. Reconnect the cable and wait for the camera to boot.

How to Power Cycle the eufy Baby Monitor?

  1. Locate the power cable on your eufy baby monitor unit.
  2. Unplug the cable from the monitor and the A/C outlet.
  3. Wait for about 45–60 seconds until the monitor resets.
  4. Now, reconnect the power adapter and test the monitor.

Tip: Check both devices in low light to see if the night vision switches on!

3. Clean the eufy Camera Lens

Sometimes the eufy camera’s night vision won’t work because the camera lens is smudged or blocked, cutting off the infrared light that makes it work.

Dust, fingerprints, or even a leftover setup sticker can dim your view.  Wiping it down can clear the path and restore the night vision.

Step #1 Wipe Down the Lens

wipe down the lens
  • Acquire a soft and dry microfiber cloth for cleaning.
  • Gently rub the lens in circles to lift off dust or marks.
  • Check the infrared LED for bits of debris or smudges.
  • Position the camera back and test it in a dark room.

Step #2 Clear the Surrounding Area

  • Look over the camera’s front for any buildup or grime.
  • Swipe around the lens edge to free up the infrared ring.
  • Ensure nothing blocks the camera’s surrounding view.

Tip: Keep the microfiber cloth nearby for regular cleaning of the eufy camera’s lens, especially if you’re using it in a high-humidity environment.

4. Reposition the Eufy Camera

The reason why your eufy baby monitor has no night vision could be the camera placement in the baby’s room.

Any bright lights or shiny surfaces nearby can interfere with the sensor by keeping it disabled, hence moving it around a bit can help the infrared light and the night vision.

reposition the eufy camera

A small change in the camera angle can make a significant difference, especially if the lighting in your baby’s room is irregular.

Tips to Reposition eufy Camera:

  • Move the camera away from lamps or open windows.
  • Tilt the camera down or sideways to dodge reflections.
  • Position it about 3 to 6 feet from the crib for best range.
  • Try in a fully dark environment to test the night vision.

Quick Tip: Experiment with the camera angle and keep checking if the night vision is restored.

5. Upgrade Eufy System OS

If your eufy baby monitor’s night vision is not working, the system firmware might be outdated or mismatched, especially with a new camera or monitor.

So, updating the system to the latest version can get the infrared working smoothly again.

You’ll need a computer and a data cable to load the files in.

upgrade eufy system os

Step #1 Download and Prep the Files

Navigate to Eufy’s website and download the most current firmware version:

  1. Unzip the .RAR file for the Camera.bin and Monitor.bin files for your model.
  2. Next, transfer both files to your desktop, and prepare them for the installation.
  3. Now, connect the eufy baby monitor to your PC using the supplied USB cable.

Note: Scroll to the bottom of the baby monitor’s product page to find the firmware downloads.

Step #2 Update the Monitor

  1. Look for the “SN93701PU” in your computer’s File Explorer.
  2. Drag the Monitor.bin file over to that “SN93701PUdrive.
  3. Wait for 2–3 minutes until the file is uploaded successfully.
  4. Check the version under “Connect with Us” in the eufy tab.

Step #3 Update the Camera

update the monitor
  1. Swap the cable to the camera and access the “SN93700BU” drive.
  2. Drag and drop the Camera.bin file into that “SN93700BU” drive.
  3. After that, wait for the camera to restart once the file is uploaded.
  4. Confirm the version matches in eufy’s“Connect with Us” section.

Warning: Keep that data cable firmly connected on both ends until the entire update procedure!

6. Swap Eufy’s Power Cable

The power adapter of the eufy baby monitor could be too weak to supply the camera’s infrared lens adequately.

Swapping it with a spare adapter that’s proven to be functional can stabilize the voltage and jump-start the IR sensor.

Note: Check if the power adapter or the connectors have sustained any type of hardware damage!

swap eufy’s power cable

Here’s how to replace Eufy’s power cable:

  1. First, find a replacement 5V, standard micro-USB adapter.
  2. Unplug the current one from the baby monitor’s power port.
  3. Plug in the new adapter to the monitor and the wall socket.
  4. Test the eufy baby monitor IR sensor functionality in the dark.

Don’t throw away the old adapter as it could still come in handy, even if it’s not as effective as it used to be.

Check if the power port of your baby monitor has any obstructions in the meantime.

7. Factory Reset the eufy Monitor

If your eufy baby monitor’s night vision won’t activate after all the steps so far, there could be a deep software-related problem with the system.

A factory reset through the stand’s pinhole can wipe everything clean and resolve all issues with the monitor.

All you need is a small pointy instrument, such as a pin or a paperclip, that will fit through the reset pinhole and reach the button.

Here’s how to reset the eufy monitor to defaults:

  1. First, locate the reset hole on the back of the eufy monitor stand.
  2. Push the paperclip and hold it for 5 to 10 seconds until it restarts.
  3. After that, wait for the monitor to boot back up fully after the reset.
  4. Pair it with the camera again and check the night vision in the dark.

Tip: Add the eufy camera to a different slot in the interface of the monitor.

8. Install External Infrared Boost (DIY)

If all else fails and the eufy baby monitor night vision is not working, the infrared LEDs might be too weak or blocked by something else, like a factory flaw or improper room lighting.

Hence, adding a cheap, external infrared light source can intensify the night view and fix the issue.

All you have to do is find an affordable boost in a convenience store or an online marketplace, such as Amazon.

install external infrared boost (diy)

Here’s how to universally set an infrared boost:

  1. Plug the boost close to the eufy, aiming it toward the crib or monitored spot.
  2. Position the boost in front of the eufy camera’s lens and accelerate the vision.
  3. Switch off the room lights and flip on the IR light to flood the area with infrared.
  4. Check the monitor to see if the screen picks up a clear black-and-white image.

The emitter must remain close to the camera’s frontal lens at all times, in order to accelerate the IR sensor effectively.

Important: Make sure there are no other wireless devices close to the monitor, as this could conflict with the signal.
