Samsung Subwoofer Blue Light On But No Sound? (Fix Now)
Samsung subwoofer blue light on but no sound? Don’t worry, this could be very easy to fix!
The blue light on the Samsung subwoofer shows that the device is connected to the soundbar, but this does not guarantee that everything will work smoothly.
There are many possibilities for the subwoofer to be quiet, so in this guide, we’ll walk you through everything you need to try.
If the Samsung subwoofer shows a blue light but not playing sound, start by increasing the bass by using the “WOOFER” button.
If this doesn’t help, unmute the source, pair the subwoofer manually and factory reset the soundbar.
That’s only a portion of everything you can try, so keep reading!
Samsung Subwoofer Blue Light On But No Sound – Quick Fix!
Tip: We recommend trying the steps chronologically!
1. Increase the Woofer’s Bass Level
Even if it sounds unlikely, the reason why your Samsung subwoofer is connected, but there is no sound, could be due to the low bass level.
This will not only prevent you from hearing the woofer’s bass but also feel vibration, deceiving you into believing that there is no audio output.
Most Samsung soundbar remotes have a “WOOFER” button that adjusts the bass level from -6 to +6 when pressed.
So, go ahead, check if your remote has this button, and press it multiple times while the soundbar is playing music.
If your Samsung subwoofer suddenly starts blasting the music, well, you’ve just discovered the problem.
If not, then something else is preventing your subwoofer from outputting the audio.
Quick Tip: For best audibly, we recommend leaving the subwoofer’s bass level at about +3.
2. Unmute & Increase Source Volume
If you hear no sound or feel no vibration from your Samsung subwoofer, chances are that your connected source device (in most cases, the TV), is muted.
It’s also possible that the volume is too low to be audible, hence, the next step is to boost the volume and possibly unmute your TV.
For this purpose, use the TV’s remote (not the Samsung soundbars), and press the Volume (+) button multiple times.
Additionally, the volume of the Samsung soundbar should be boosted. Also, press the “Mute” button on both your soundbar remote and TV remote.
This will guarantee that your devices are not muted in any form, and the volume is sufficiently increased for your subwoofer to sound loudly.
If your source and soundbar are not muted, but there is no subwoofer sound, keep reading!
3. Shorten Signal’s Distance Proximity
Well, the solid blue light on your Samsung subwoofer clearly shows that the unit is connected to the soundbar, but the question is how efficiently.
The reason why you are not hearing anything from the subwoofer could be due to a problem related to the distance and the wireless signals.
Hence, another quick step that you should undertake before anything else is to relocate your Samsung subwoofer, closer to the soundbar or vice versa.
We also recommend dislocating wireless devices near your Samsung soundbar and subwoofer to prevent interference.
If this resolves the problem and your subwoofer starts to work spontaneously, then the problem is related to the distance.
So, consider a permanent equipment relocation! If not, however, there is much more to try…
4. Manually Reconnect the Subwoofer
If your Samsung subwoofer turns on and is connected but not working, chances are that there is something wrong with the wireless connection.
This mainly happens after an automatic pairing, so we strongly recommend re-establishing the connection manually, following the steps below!
Here’s how to manually connect the Samsung soundbar to the subwoofer:
- First, you need to power off your Samsung soundbar entirely.
- Then, verify that both devices’ power cords are firmly connected.
- Find the small “ID SET” pinhole on the back of your subwoofer.
- Get a sharp and pointy object that can reach inside the pinhole.
- Reach within, and hold the ID SET button for about 10 seconds.
- When the subwoofer starts blinking in blue, you can release it.
- While the soundbar is “OFF” hold your remote’s “MUTE” button.
- Info: Some soundbars have a dedicated “ID SET” button instead.
- Shortly, you must see “ID SET” on the Samsung soundbar screen.
- If not, try holding the “UP” remote button or check the user manual.
- To finalize the manual connection, turn on the Samsung soundbar.
If your Samsung soundbar is successfully connected to the subwoofer, the LED should become solid blue and stop blinking.
If the blinking continues, repeat the steps with more caution.
Note: If the process doesn’t work for you, consult the user’s manual for exact instructions as per your Samsung soundbar model.
5. Connect Soundbar to TV via eARC
A very crucial requirement for working audio output from your Samsung subwoofer is for your soundbar to be connected to the HDMI eARC port of the TV.
This has been a known issue for a while now, circulating in online forums, so if you’re using a regular HDMI TV port, the subwoofer may not output anything.
So, take a look at the back of the TV, and if your soundbar is connected to a regular HDMI port, unplug the cable and connect it to an HDMI eARC.
Then, power cycle both devices and test if the subwoofer will finally start playing the sound from your source.
Note: The HDMI ARC or eARC port on your TV is typically labeled accordingly!
6. Reset Samsung Soundbar to Default
If nothing works, and your Samsung subwoofer turns on but no sound, the problem could be coming from your soundbar.
Hence, we recommend performing a factory reset, which is one of the most effective techniques to resolve prevalent issues that otherwise will remain.
Warning: The factory reset will erase all settings from your Samsung soundbar, disconnect the device from the subwoofer and from the SmartThings app.
Since there are a few different ways to factory reset a Samsung soundbar (model-based), we’ve prepared different methods to attempt.
- Method #1 – Press and hold the Volume (+) and Volume (-) buttons on your Samsung soundbar, until you see “INT” on the display.
- Method #2 – Unplug the soundbar’s power cord and hold the “Power” button while reconnecting the cable back into the outlet.
That’s it. Well, if you don’t see “INT” on the screen, even after attempting both methods, you must check the instructions in the user manual.
Note: When your Samsung soundbar is factory reset, we recommend re-trying the steps from solution 4 for manually pairing the subwoofer.
Wrapping Up
So, you can fix the Samsung subwoofer blue light on but no sound problem by increasing the bass and unmuting your source.
Additionally, manually reconnecting the subwoofer helps against prevalent issues as well as performing a soundbar factory reset.
