Let’s review a list containing all the causes why the Onn soundbar won’t pair to the subwoofer:
How to Pair Onn Subwoofer to Soundbar?
- Locate the “Mute” button on the Onn soundbar’s remote.
- Ensure the Onn soundbar is connected to a power supply.
- Aim the remote towards the receiver of the Onn soundbar.
- Hold the “Mute” button on the remote for about 7 seconds.
- Release the button after the subwoofer’s LED starts to flash.
- Press the “Pairing” button on your subwoofer’s underside.
- Then, wait until the programming procedure is completed.
If the programming is successful, the subwoofer’s LED indicator will turn solid bright blue for a few seconds.

Onn Subwoofer Not Pairing With Soundbar – Quick Fix
Tip: Follow the instructions in a consecutive chronology!
1. Shorten the Wireless Signal Distance
So, before attempting anything else, you must ensure that the subwoofer is within a particular wireless range from the soundbar.
Positioning the devices too far apart from each other may disrupt the existing Bluetooth connection or prevent the devices from establishing the pairing.
So, ensure the subwoofer and the soundbar are within a maximum of 30 feet distance from each other and attempt the programming instructions.
Important: Verify there are no solid obstructions or furniture between the devices!
2. Check the Subwoofer’s “Pairing” Button
Pressing and holding the “Pairing” button on the subwoofer allows the device to be discovered and assigned by the soundbar.
Thus, only pressing the “Mute” button on the soundbar’s remote control will not activate the Onn subwoofer’s Bluetooth and won’t allow the pairing on its own.
Subwoofer Pairing Button Problems?
To determine if the subwoofer’s “Pairing” mode is working properly, press the button multiple times in a row and check if there’s a clicking sound or other unusual noises.
Particularly whenever the button is difficult to press or does not go all the way down, there could be an issue with the content points underneath.
The button’s mechanism is extremely sensitive to third-party and hash interaction, so delivering the Onn subwoofer for an examination is best.
Notice: Accessing the subwoofer or the soundbar’s hardware will void the product warranty!
3. Power Cycle the Onn Subwoofer/Soundbar
If the subwoofer is still failing to connect with the soundbar, you should perform a power cycle on each piece of your audio system.
The 5.1 Onn home theater consists of a wireless/wired Onn soundbar, a fully wireless subwoofer, and 2 speakers plugged into your Onn subwoofer.
Let’s start with performing a power cycle on the subwoofer first!
How to Power Cycle Onn Roku Subwoofer?
- Unplug the subwoofer’s power cord from the A/C outlet.
- Disconnect the 2-prong end of the adapter from the back.
- Hold the subwoofer’s “Pairing” button for 5–10 seconds.
- Next, re-install the subwoofer’s power cord on both ends.
- Wait until your device turns on and re-attempt the pairing.
How to Power Cycle Onn Wireless Soundbar?
- Unplug the soundbar’s cable from the supplying outlet.
- Disconnect the other end of the cable from the rear panel.
- Hold the “Power” button on the soundbar’s front-end panel.
- Release the button after 15 seconds and reinstall the power.
- Turn on the soundbar and attempt to hook up the subwoofer.
How to Power Cycle Onn Subwoofer Speaker (Optional)
- Disconnect the 3.5 mm speaker jack from the subwoofer.
- Optional: Repeat for all speakers plugged into the device.
- Wait for 30 seconds and reconnect each of the speakers.
Warning: A malfunctioning speaker could cause issues with the Onn Roku subwoofer!
4. Reconnect the Soundbar’s Receiver
Well, there could be an issue with the primary receiver connection of the Onn soundbar, preventing the subwoofer from pairing.
By default, the Onn subwoofer is designed to be connected before assigning any other Bluetooth or wired connections to the soundbar.
Let’s review the alternative methods for refreshing the soundbar’s connection!
How to Disconnect Onn Soundbar From Bluetooth?
- Hold the “Bluetooth” button on your Onn remote control.
- Release the button after “BT” is flashing on Onn’s screen.
- Wait for 10–15 seconds while the soundbar is discovered.
- Next, reconnect the wireless receiver to the Onn soundbar.
- Test the quality of the soundbar’s Bluetooth programming.
How to Disconnect Onn Soundbar From Wired Audio?
- Unplug the HDMI, AUX, or Optical cable from the rear.
- Disconnect the other end of the cable from the receiver.
- Wait for ~30 seconds while the cable is disconnected.
- Reinstall the audio cable on both ends and test the Onn.
If using a wired connection, ensure the Onn soundbar is specified as the “Default Audio Device” within the settings of your TV or receiver.
If the TV is set to “System Speakers” or “In-Built Speakers,” the audio will not be transferred to the soundbar or the subwoofer at all.
Reminder: If the soundbar is connected via Bluetooth, shorten the physical distance with the receiver!
5. Check the Subwoofer’s Audio Settings
It may seem that the subwoofer has failed to establish a connection to the soundbar, but the reason could be improperly configured audio settings.
If the subwoofer’s settings have not been adjusted properly, the audio broadcast may sound degraded or not come through at all.
How to Re-Adjust Onn Roku Subwoofer Audio Settings?
- Press the “SUB +” button on the remote multiple times.
- Press the “TREB +” button on the remote a few times.
- Ensure the Onn soundbar is selected as the default output.
- Change the “Sound” mode of the Onn soundbar to test.
- Change the audio broadcast of the Onn soundbar unit.
It is quite important to verify that the audio played on the connected receiver is audible and can be heard through the Onn soundbar.
If no audio reaches the Onn soundbar, the subwoofer will produce nothing as well.
Tip: Check if your TV has an equalizer settings menu allowing you to adjust the bass strength!
6. Eliminate Nearby Wireless Interference
Wireless interference might be preventing the radio waves transmitted by the soundbar from reaching the subwoofer’s receiver.
This is why the next step is to ensure there is no aerial conflict of the signals preventing the subwoofer and soundbar from establishing a connection.
What Causes Invisible Wireless Interference?
- Nearby Bluetooth devices or RF (radio-frequency) waves.
- Network routers or modems transmitting heavier RF bands.
- Electronic units or metallic appliances, such as microwaves.
Ensure no other wireless devices are communicating on a baseline frequency such as the soundbar in a 20 feet range of the soundbar or the subwoofer.
It takes little to no effort for two signal streamlines to cross paths and create an aerial conflict, causing all devices to unpair.
Note: Persistent interference will prevent the devices from pairing or degrade the connection!
7. Factory Reset the Onn Soundbar Unit
If the fault persists, it is recommended to factory reset the system settings of the Onn soundbar and re-attempt the subwoofer’s pairing procedure.
It is an effective solution for eliminating underlying faults with the settings or the general functionality of the soundbar.
As a result of the factory reset, all remembered Bluetooth connections and custom audio settings of the Onn soundbar will be erased.
You will be unable to restore them!
Proceed with the following instructions to factory reset the soundbar:
- Locate the reset pinhole on the soundbar’s back panel.
- Insert a small tool such as a paperclip into the pinhole.
- Next, press and hold the reset button inside the pinhole.
- Release the button after 10 seconds and pull out the tool.
- Wait 1–2 minutes while the soundbar is factory resetting.
Warning: Releasing the button early or not holding it for long enough will prevent the reset’s activation.
Quick Recap
If the Onn subwoofer not pairing with soundbar, ensure the devices are within wireless range, re-adjust the subwoofer’s audio settings, and check for wireless interference.
If the fault continues, factory reset the Onn soundbar.
