Looking for the best settings for Samsung soundbar and subwoofer to take your music to the next level or spice up your movie nights?
This guide is for you, so keep reading or miss out!
The Samsung soundbar and subwoofer have several audio settings that play a big role in what you’re hearing and how you’re hearing it.
That’s exactly what this guide has in store for you–a comprehensive look into these settings and how to use them based on your audio preferences.
The Best Settings for Samsung Soundbar and Subwoofer!
Important: Start with the soundbar settings, then move on to the subwoofer, and finally configure your system’s surround sound.
What are the Samsung Soundbar’s Best Settings?
The Samsung soundbar has several highly important audio settings that define the quality and performance of the audio output.
We will walk you through all of your soundbar audio options and how they impact the output, as well as how to adjust each to achieve the best performance.
Volume
It’s important to always keep your Samsung soundbar’s volume in check to avoid excessive overwhelming of the speakers and amplifiers.
The volume of the soundbar can be regulated both through the Samsung soundbar and the input device it’s connected to (your TV or PC).
Verify that the volume stays at about 40–50%, with a maximum of 80% to keep the speakers safe!
Sound Mode
The Samsung soundbar has several audio presets, assigning premade equalizer frequencies based on your preference.
Pressing “SOUND MODE” on your Samsung soundbar’s remote cycles through the following modes:
- “MUSIC” mode: Made for listening to music, with high treble and regulated bass.
- “VOICE” mode: Intended for amplifying the human voices your soundbar makes.
- “SPORTS” mode: This creates a mixed environment of background noise/voices.
- “CINEMA” mode: Fluctuates the frequencies between quieter and louder scenes.
- “STANDARD” mode: A good all-rounder for your Samsung soundbar’s audio out.
Tip: Pressing the button once cycles through the modes and displays the currently selected mode on the soundbar’s display.
Adaptive Mode
The adaptive mode adjusts your soundbar’s output according to the content of the audio stream.
If you are watching a movie, for example, the soundbar’s volume will lower during quiet scenes and gradually increase whenever there is more action.
We recommend enabling the adaptive mode by pressing the “Sound Mode” button on the soundbar’s remote control or the dedicated “Adaptive” button if you have the newer model.
SpaceFit Sound
Enabling “SpaceFit Sound” allows Samsung to analyze the acoustics of your room and adjust the output accordingly.
In a room with weaker acoustics, the output will sound more tailored and dull, while in an emptier living room, the output will be louder with higher density.
You can adjust the SpaceFit sound feature by pressing the “Settings” or “Menu” button on your soundbar remote control and then heading to the “Audio” or “Sound” settings.
Now, search for “SpaceFit Sound” in the menu and ensure it is set to “On”.
Active Voice Amplifier
What the active voice amplifier does is tweak the way human voices are reproduced by the soundbar.
Only tweak this option if the voices coming out of your soundbar sound unnatural or excessively loud/uneven.
You can disable (or enable) the voice amplifier by navigating to “Settings” → “Sound Settings” → “Active Voice Amplifier” and using the remote control to regulate the state.
Bass Enhancement
The bass enhancement is also important to achieve the best soundbar and Samsung subwoofer settings.
Enabling this feature activates a special enhancement for your soundbar’s bass, which could contribute to a clarity increase and depth.
- We recommend setting it to “Off” as it could result in a clearer and defined bass output.
You can regulate the bass enhancement by pressing the “Bass” button on the remote for newer models or by going to “Sound Settings” → “Bass Enhancement”.
Equalizer (EQ)
The equalizer is important for your Samsung soundbar’s general performance and helps define the exact way you prefer the system to sound via frequencies.
You can access and adjust the soundbar’s equalizer through the SmartThings app unless you have a “Sound Mode” active.
Open the app, then navigate to “Settings” → “Equalizer,” and you will see all of the available frequencies.
Here’s the layout we recommend:
- 150 Hz: Set between “+2” and “+3”
- 300 Hz: set between “-1” and “+1”
- 600 Hz: Set between “-1” and “+3”
- 1.2k: Set between “0” and “+3”
- 2.5k: Set between “-2” and “+1”
- 5.0k: Set between “-3” and “0”.
- 10k: Set between “0” and “+1”
We recommend playing around with the frequencies to determine which configuration sounds the best according to your personal preference.
Note: Achieving the best equalizer configuration may require some testing.
Center Channel Volume
The center channel setting allows you to customize the source and strength of the output and which soundbar speaker you prefer to output the most sound.
Gradually reducing the volume of the center channels deepens the tones of your soundbar to help eliminate thin or hollow sounds.
Similar to the other settings, the center channel volume can be adjusted by navigating to the “Channel Levels” tab through the soundbar’s settings.
- We recommend setting it to “-3” or “-4” to achieve that exact deepening of the voice tones.
Wide and Side Channels
Well, similarly to the center channel volume, adjusting the wide and side channels transfers (or focuses) the soundbar’s output toward a particular end.
We recommend not adjusting the wide and side channels unless you want the soundbar audio to transfer more toward the left or right.
If you wish to adjust the feature, you can find the “Wide” and “Side” channel adjustments in the “Audio Settings” tab.
- Set a value between “-1” or “-2” for optimal performance.
Top Channels
The top channel adjustment is responsible for the front top and rear top output of the soundbar.
We recommend setting the “Front Top” channel to +3 and the “Rear Top” channel to about “+2” to emphasize the upper frequency and enhance the surround sound experience.
Note: To access the top channels configuration, press “Menu” or “Settings” on the remote control, then navigate to “Audio Settings”.
Bonus Tip: Physical Adjustment
To get the most out of the Samsung soundbar in terms of audio performance, you must also pay attention to the physical adjustment of the soundbar and its alignment with the other devices.
This varies on whether you have a 5:1 or 2:1 surround setup configuration and whether or not the subwoofer is your only additional device.
So, we recommend positioning the soundbar in a central position, the Samsung subwoofer right under it, and speakers on the left and the right.
Note: Most of the settings above can also be configured through the SmartThings mobile app.
What are the Samsung Subwoofer Best Settings?
There are several settings for your Samsung subwoofer, primarily in terms of physical alignment and positioning, that allow you to get the most out of your system.
Subwoofer Level
You can adjust the subwoofer’s output strength by pressing the “BASS” button on the Samsung soundbar remote.
- We advise picking a value between “-3” and “-4” to avoid overpowering the speakers and to isolate all unwanted noise or muddy bass.
Note: There could also be a “WOOFER” or “SUBWOOFER” button on your remote that regulates the subwoofer’s output.
Subwoofer Isolation
Although this is not considered a feature or setting of the subwoofer, the subwoofer needs to have proper isolation to minimize vibrations transferring to the floor.
So, consider positioning something underneath the Samsung subwoofer’s bumpers or “feet” to minimize such noise.
Room Positioning
Avoid placing the unit next to furniture or large objects that could muffle the output.
Performing a “subwoofer crawl” can help identify the optimal placement for a balanced audio bass response.
The best position for a subwoofer is, as established, underneath or right next to the soundbar.
This way, all of the noise will be transferred simultaneously, and there won’t be any desync on the speakers, soundbar, or subwoofer’s end.
What are the Best Samsung Surround Sound Settings?
Last but not least, it’s important to create a proper outline of the audio surround sound system’s audio.
You can only adjust the volume of the rear and rear-side speakers participating in your Samsung setup surround sound through the soundbar’s menu or the SmartThings application.
Rear Speaker Volume
Access the “Sound Options” on your soundbar, then search for the “Rear Speaker” tile.
Press the “Right” arrow on the D-pad to increase the volume and balance them with the front channels by setting the value at about “-3”
Rear Side Speakers
Same as with the rear speakers, set those to “-3” through the soundbar “Sound Options” menu or the “Surround Sound” tab within the SmartThings app.
Double-check that both speakers are turned on by the time you’re applying the adjustments.
Speaker Placement
To achieve the best settings for Samsung soundbar and subwoofer, you must also ensure that each speaker in your surround sound is positioned correctly for an optimal audio output.
Position the rear speakers at an angle of 45 degrees behind your listening area, ideally at ear level.
Avoid placing them directly next to your seating to prevent muffled or distorted sounds.
That’s it. We hope you’ve learned something new today!
