Why Is My Yealink Phone Not Ringing? (Here’s The Easy Fix!)
Yealink phone not ringing and you’re wondering why? Well, in this guide we’ll help you fix this!
There are many reasons why your Yealink phone could send outgoing calls, but it will be unable to receive incoming calls.
Some of these reasons include the DnD (Do Not Disturb) function, the router’s connection, and of course the SIP traffic ports.
In this quick article, we’ll unwrap everything you can do to resolve this problem instantaneously!
How to Fix When a Yealink Phone Not Ringing?
Note: Have you tried rebooting your Yealink phone by unplugging it from the power supply?
1. Disable the Do Not Disturb Mode
The first and most important thing to do is check and disable the DND (Do Not Disturb) mode on your Yealink phone.
This feature is specifically designed to stop the Yealink phone from ringing, without expiration time, thus until the feature is manually disabled.
The way of disabling the DND feature varies by the Yealink phone model.
Quick Tip: Some Yealink phones support a quick DND deactivation, so check for a “DND” or “All Off” soft key and press once to deactivate the feature.
For T58W, VP59 and T58A
- Swipe down, locate the DND icon, and tap to deactivate the feature.
- OR, go to Settings → Features → DND → Disable DND/DND Status.
For T54W, T57W, T3X, T4X and T53X
- Press the DND button.
- OR, go to Menu → Features → DND.
For CP965, CP935W and CP925
- Tap More and go to DND (while the phone is idle).
- OR, go to More → Settings → Features → DND → DND Status → OFF.
Note: When disabled, the DND icon should disappear from the status bar.
2. Verify Yealink–Router Connection
If the Yealink cordless phone not ringing and can’t send outgoing calls, this is an indication that something with the router’s connection is not intact.
Hence, the next step is to thoroughly check whether your internet is online, whether the phone is connected, and whether everything works.
Notice: You should test if your Yealink phone can send outgoing calls and if yes, you can skip this step, but if not, follow the instructions.
2.1 Wi-Fi Connection Inspection:
- Using your smartphone, connect to the router’s Wi-Fi.
- Verify you’re online by attempting to browse the web.
- If you cannot browse the web, your network is down.
My Wi-Fi is Offline:
If your Wi-Fi is down, power cycle your router:
- Press the power button on the router.
- Disconnect ALL cables from the back.
- Wait for 60 seconds for a power cycle.
- Connect the wires and turn it back on.
My Wi-Fi is Online:
If your Wi-Fi is online, reconnect your Yealink:
- Go to Menu → Basic Settings → Wi-Fi.
- Choose Wi-Fi Status and then “Edit”
- You can now delete the saved Wi-Fi.
- Return to Menu → Basic Settings → Wi-Fi
- Choose the “Available Networks” tab.
- Select the Wi-Fi network from the list.
- Press “Connect” and insert password.
- Select “OK” to finalize the connection.
Note: Some Yealink models do NOT support 5 GHz Wi-Fi, so we recommend only connecting to the 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi frequency.
2.2 Wired Connection Inspection:
If your Yealink phone is connected to the internet via an Ethernet cable, the connection is far more reliable and robust, compared to the wireless.
However, it’s not excluded that something with the Ethernet connection is wrong, or simply, your Yealink phone is not properly connected.
How to Connect a Yealink Phone via Ethernet?
- One end connects to your “LAN” router’s port.
- The other end goes into the “Internet” phone port.
Ensure that you are not using the “PC” port on the Yealink phone to connect the device to your router. This port is intended to link your computer to the Yealink phone.
This way both your devices can use the same “LAN” port of your network router via a secondary Ethernet cable.
How to Troubleshoot Yealink Wired Connection?
Your Yealink phone may not receive calls because of a fault with the wired connection!
Here’s what to do to troubleshoot the wired connection:
Note: If your other Ethernet-connected devices are offline, your broadband may be down, hence contact your ISP for assistance.
3. Configure a SIP Port-Forwarding
If you’re still wondering why is my Yealink phone not ringing but outgoing calls work, you need to know about port-forwarding.
Your Yealink phone uses a special transmission method SIP (Session Initiation Protocol), which connects you to the SIP server.
If your router is not configured to allow signals through the port (5060), which is the default, and blocks it instead, your Yealink phone will call but will not ring.
This is why, with some routers, you need to manually open this port:
Step #1 Login to the Yealink GUI
The first step is to log in to the user interface of your Yealink phone. To do so, you need to find the assigned IP address of your Yealink phone, by pressing OK.
This will bring it up and look something like this “192.168.1.1”.
Then, you need to insert the IP of your Yealink phone into the URL address bar of any browser, using your computer.
This will bring up the login screen and prompt you to insert your password.
Note: By default, your Yealink login credentials are admin/admin or admin/password!
Step #2 Assign the Phone an IP
When you’re signed in, you need to assign a static IP address for your Yealink phone. To do so you need to find your router IP address.
You easily find this one, by opening Google and typing “What’s My IP”, which will instantly bring up many websites showing your router’s IPv4 address.
Copy that address, and continue with the steps below:
- In your Yealink phone’s GUI, go to “Network.”
- Then, configure the Mode (IPv4/IPv6) to IPv4.
- Select “Static IP Address” under “IPv4 Config”.
- Finally, insert the router’s IP you have copied.
When ready, press “Confirm” and proceed with the next step, while the phone is rebooting!
Step #3 Configure Your RTP Port
The next step is to configure your RTP (Real-Time Transport Protocol) port, which you can find under the “Advanced Settings” tab.
This one is easy, just locate “Local RTP Port” and configure it as follows:
- Max RTP Port (1024〜65535) – 11800
- Min RTP Port (1024〜65535) – 11780
You’re almost ready!
Step #4 Configure Your SIP Port
The final step is to go to the “Account” tab and locate the option “SIP Port” which is found right next to the SIP Server section.
- The default port is 5060, so under “SIP Server 1” – “Port” type “5060 and click “Confirm” to finalize the process.
Remember that by default, this port should be open on your router, but if your Yealink phone is still not ringing, you must proceed with 1 more extra step.
Step #5 Open Router’s Port: 5060
Insert “http://192.168.100.1/” into the URL address bar of your browser and sign into the router’s interface using admin/admin or admin/password.
Then go to the “Port-Forwarding” tab and open the 5060 port for your Yealink phone’s incoming calls.
That’s it. Save the settings and exit.
4. Factory Reset your Yealink Phone
If your Yealink phone is still not ringing, but you can send outgoing calls, perhaps you’re facing a bug with the system.
The final and most powerful solution is to perform a factory reset, that will erase all of the configurations, return every setting to default, and hopefully solve the problem.
Here’s how to factory reset Yealink phone in easy steps:
- Press OK and go to Status → System Status.
- Note/copy the IP address of the Yealink phone.
- Insert the IP in the address bar of any browser.
- Log into the phone, using values admin/admin.
- Go to Phone → Upgrade → Reset to Factory.
Note: Some Yealink phones can be reset by long-pressing the OK button or the Redial button and inserting your administrator credentials (admin/admin).
