yealink account unregistered

Is your Yealink account unregistered, and you’re wondering why? Wonder no more and stay with us!

The “account unregistered” error on Yealink primarily appears when the phone is disconnected from the network due to one reason or another.

In this guide, we’ll carry you through everything you should inspect and perform against this error and bring the phone into an operational state.

Let’s jump straight into the solutions!

Yealink Account Unregistered Error – Fixed in 6 Easy Steps!

Note: If the error appears suddenly, first try to reboot your Yealink phone and network router.

1. Verify Yealink Phone is Connected

The first and most important step is to ensure that your Yealink phone is connected to the network router, regardless of whether you use cable or Wi-Fi.

If your phone is disconnected, it’s likely that you will see an error such as “account unregistered”, since your device will not receive an IP address, SIP server, etc…

1.1 Inspect Wired Connection

If your Yealink phone is connected via cable, you must check and verify that the service connector is in the “Internet” port on the back of the phone.

On the router’s side, you must verify that the connector is plugged into the LAN port as well as inspect whether the connections are tight and if the cable is damaged/ripped.

1.2 Inspect Wi-Fi Connection

inspect wi-fi connection

If you’re using a Wi-Fi connection, you might need to reconnect manually:

  1. On the Yealink phone go to the Menu.
  2. Choose “Basic” settings and “Wi-Fi”.
  3. Then, head to “Available Networks.”
  4. Next, select the Wi-Fi of your router.
  5. Enter the password and choose “OK”.
  • If you want to add a Wi-Fi network manually go to Basic Settings → Wi-Fi → Known Networks → Add.

Note: If you can’t connect to the Wi-Fi, use your smartphone to ensure that the wireless network can be accessed, and if yes, relocate the Yealink phone closer to the router.

2. Update Yealink Phone’s Firmware

The most common cause for the Yealink phone account unregistered error is outdated firmware, which you can update manually in a few easy steps.

The process requires you to download the latest firmware from the main Yealink source, and then upload it through the Yealink phone’s graphic user interface.

update yealink phone’s firmware

Here’s how to manually update the firmware of your Yealink phone:

  1. First, open the official Yealink support page.
  2. Find and select the model of the Yealink phone.
  3. Then, go to the “Firmware” tab and download it.
  4. Next, press the Menu, OK, or the BASE button.
  5. One of these buttons should open the “Status”.
  6. Find the Yealink phone’s IP address at “IPv4”.
  7. Write the IPv4 of your phone in a web browser.
  8. This will help you access the Yealink interface.
  9. Then, click on “Settings” and go to “Upgrade.”
  10. Click on “Browse” and select the upgrade file.
  11. Finally, click “Upload” and select “OK” to begin.

The firmware upgrade will begin. You’ll need to patiently wait for a few minutes until the update is ready, and then check whether the error is still there.

If yes, your phone is unregistered due to a different issue.

Note: You will need a computer connected to the internet!

3. Set Your Yealink to “DHCP” for IP

set yealink to “dhcp” for ip

Another primary reason for the “account unregistered” error on Yealink phones is missing the IP address, which happens when your mode is set to the manual “Static” mode.

When you’re using a “Static” address, you must manually insert the IP address provided by your network supplier.

In turn, if you change the mode to “DHCP” the Yealink phone will automatically obtain the IP address from your Wi-Fi router and become registered in seconds.

Here’s how to switch your Yealink phone to DHCP IP mode:

  1. From the Idle screen, go to Menu Advanced.
  2. Select “Network” and then choose “WAN Port”.
  3. When prompted for a password, insert “admin”.
  4. Use the arrow to select “IPv4” and press Enter.
  5. Next, use the sideways arrows to select “DHCP
  6. Save the change and use the Back key to return.

When ready, we strongly recommend rebooting your Yealink phone and network router by unplugging both devices for 60 seconds.

This will refresh all your network data and your phone must get registered.

Note: If your Yealink is connected to your PC, verify that the PC port is not disabled by going to the Network → PC Port.

4. Configure the RTP and SIP Server

configure the rtp and sip server

The RTP (Real-time Transport Protocol) is essential for VoIP services, such as your Yealink phone, and must be configured in the Yealink interface.

On the other hand, the SIP port is directly responsible for the incoming calls on your Yealink phone, hence both of these settings must be checked.

The entire process consists of 3 short steps:

Note: You must first log in to your Yealink phone interface, following the steps in solution #1.

4.1 Configure the RTP

When you’re logged into your Yealink phone’s interface, go to the “Advanced Settings” tab from the top of the page and locate the “Local RTP Port” section.

Then, configure the MAX and MIN RTP ports range as follows:

  • Max RTP Port (1024~65535) = 11800
  • Min RTP Port (1024~65535) = 11780

Info: If you have more than one Yealink phone, the second one will use a range of +20 (11820–11800).

4.2 Set Up the SIP Port

set up the sip port

The next step is to configure the SIP port, which you can locate under the “Account” tab on the top menu, and head to SIP Server 1.

You should now set and use the default port (5060), and if you have a second Yealink phone, the SIP Server’s port must be +2, hence 5062.

4.3 Open the Port 5060

Now that your SIP Server port is configured, you must ensure that your network router is not blocking this port, by opening it.

To do so, you must sign in to your router’s GUI, which is explained in the steps below:

  1. Access the router by opening the http://192.168.0.1/.
  2. Login by typing admin/admin or admin/password.
  3. Then, go to the Network or Advanced Settings pane.
  4. You will need to locate the “Port-Forwarding” option.
  5. In there, you must insert port “5060” and select “TCP”.
  6. The final step is to save the changes and exit the tab.

When ready with all these steps, restart your network router and Yealink phone to reboot all services and check whether the “account unregistered” error will disappear.

5. Adjust your UDP Timeout to “300”

adjust your udp timeout to “300”

If you’re experiencing the account unregistered Yealink error is a loop, the best thing to try is to set the UDP Timeout to 3 minutes.

Unlike TCP, UDP does not send packets that frequently, and this may be the reason why the Yealink phone is frequently getting disconnected/unregistered.

By setting the UDP timeout to “300” you will provide more time (this is the limit), in which your phone will likely send/receive data.

This will prevent the system from considering the connection “dead” and will hopefully prevent your Yealink account from constantly getting unregistered.

  • To adjust the UDP timeout to “300”, go to Settings → Network → Advanced and locate the UDP Timeout or UDP keep-alive interval.

Note: When ready, don’t forget to Save the recent changes and reboot your Yealink phone.

6. Factory Reset your Yealink Phone

factory reset your yealink phone

If all other steps failed, and your Yealink phone is still showing “account unregistered”, it’s time to perform a factory reset.

This method will erase all your Yealink phone settings and revert the unit to factory defaults.

This provides the opportunity to set up everything freshly and correctly.

To factory reset your Yealink phone, find the IP address in “Status”, and insert it on your web browser to access the user interface.

From there head to “Upgrade” → “Reset to Factory”.

Reminder: When your Yealink phone is reset, don’t forget to configure the RTP and SIP Server ports, as explained in solution #4.
