Yealink Phone Says No Service – [Fixed in 5 Easy Steps!]
If your Yealink phone says no service, this is an indication that your device is not connected or has been disconnected from your network.
Yealink phones support multiple ways of network connection including wireless (Wi-Fi), and wired (Ethernet).
In this guide, we’ll go over everything against the “no service” issue!
This includes the following:
Let’s go over these steps in detail!
Fix Yealink Phone Says No Service – 5 Easy Steps
Note: To quickly check whether your phone is connected to the internet, which is the primary cause for “no service” go to Menu → Status and check if there is an IP address.
1. Softkey Reset your Yealink
The first step is to soft reset your Yealink phone, also known as the power cycle method.
If your Yealink phone has been working okay for the past few days, but suddenly you see “no service”, it’s probably a bug that can be cleared via a simple restart, that will not erase any of the settings.
The soft-reset procedure is simple:
- Press & hold the X, (cancel) or * (star) key.
- When you see the restart prompt, press OK.
- Your Yealink phone will restart the system.
This is a soft reset. If this doesn’t fix the “no service” error, we recommend unplugging the unit from the power supply for 60 seconds.
This will discharge the residual electricity and hopefully clear any potential networking bugs.
Quick Tip: Unplug and reconnect ALL cables from the Yealink phone!
2. Inspect your Ethernet Cable
If you’re using an Ethernet connection, you need to verify that your Yealink phone is connected properly, since there are two ways of connecting.
On the back of your Yealink, you will see two Ethernet ports–one is labeled “Internet” and the other “PC”.
You must use the “Internet” port on the back of your phone to connect to your router’s “LAN” port via Ethernet cable.
If you’ve connected the Ethernet cable to the “PC” port, you will likely see the “no service” message, as this port is intended to connect your phone to the computer.
Note: If you’re using Wi-Fi to connect your Yealink phone to the internet, jump to the next step!
One More Thing – Bad Ethernet Cable!
Sometimes you may see “no service” on your Yealink phone because the Ethernet cable you use is faulty or the connector is damaged.
This is why we strongly recommend testing with a different (proven-to-work) Ethernet cable.
Note: To connect your PC to the Yealink phone, use a secondary Ethernet cable, so both your PC and phone can use the same router port.
3. Uplift the Wi-Fi Connection
If you’re using Wi-Fi to connect your Yealink phone to the network, there are a lot of potential causes for the “no service” error.
The wireless connection is far more unreliable compared to the wired connection and anything from interference to Wi-Fi speed can impact the network bond.
Note: This step is applicable for Yealink SIP-T54W or SIP-T53W.
However, there are a couple of steps you can undertake to inspect and optimize your Wi-Fi:
3.1 Verify Proper Wi-Fi Connection
The first thing to do is verify that you’re connecting your Yealink phone to the Wi-Fi correctly:
- Go to the Menu → Settings → Basic Settings.
- Choose “Wi-Fi” and then “Available Networks”.
- Browse through the available Wi-Fi networks.
- Info: Only Yealink T4U supports 5 GHz Wi-Fi.
- Select the Wi-Fi network to connect the phone.
- Insert the password and press OK to connect.
If you’re unable to connect, proceed with step 3.2…
3.2 Reboot the Router & Test Wi-Fi
If you’re unable to connect to the Wi-Fi, your Yealink phone will say “no service” hence you must verify that your Wi-Fi is accessible.
The first thing to do is to restart the router either by using the power button or by unplugging the cable for 60 seconds.
Important: When the router is restarted, use a smartphone to justify that the Wi-Fi is accessible and try to connect your Yealink phone again.
3.3 Relocate Yealink Closer to Wi-Fi
After validating that your Wi-Fi network is accessible but your Yealink phone can’t connect and says “no service”, you may need to relocate the phone.
We recommend taking the phone closer to the router or at least trying to pair it while the phone is right next to the router (Wi-Fi source).
3.4 Switch to a Wired Network Link
If you cannot connect the Yealink phone to the Wi-Fi, we suggest switching to a wired (Ethernet) connection to check if you can clear the “no service” error.
You can find detailed instructions for connecting Yealink to the router via Ethernet cable in Solution #2 from this guide, so scroll up.
Reminder: Have you tested your internet connection? Your broadband may be down!
4. Disable your Router’s Firewall
If you’re connected to the network but Yealink no service error is still there, you need to check if the router’s firewall blocks the connection.
This primarily happens when your VoIP traffic is blocked and your Yealink phone can’t get registered.
4.1 How to Access Router’s Settings?
- To access your router settings you will need a PC.
- Open a browser and go to “http://192.168.100.1/”
- Try to log in via admin/admin or admin/password.
- OR, check for details on the bottom of your router.
- If the password is wrong, contact your ISP and ask.
4.2 How to Configure Router Firewall?
Since every router has a different user interface in the control panel, we can’t provide exact instructions, so you need to browse the tabs and find the settings.
You must disable the following features:
- SPI
- Firewall
- SIP-ALG
Also, you must enable the Quality of Service (QoS) so your router can prioritize the VoIP traffic.
Tip: Search in the “Security” or “Advanced Settings” tab, and when ready restart your router!
5. Reset your Yealink to Default
If you’re still wondering why my Yealink phone says no service, you need to perform a factory reset before rushing to conclusions.
There are a lot of Yealink desk phones, and the majority of them factory reset in a similar way, so we’ve prepared universal instructions that should work.
Here’s how to factory reset almost any Yealink phone:
- Press and hold the OK or Redial button for 10 seconds.
- When you are prompted, insert your admin credentials.
- By default, the administrator credentials are as follows:
- Username: admin
- Password: admin
When ready, press Yes to trigger the factory reset.
When the reset is over, connect your Yealink phone to the internet via Ethernet/Wi-Fi and check whether the “no service” message is solved.
Tip: You can also reset your Yealink phone through a web browser, by inserting the phone’s IP into the URL bar (OK → Status → System) and going to Reset Factory Settings.
Yealink Phone No Service – Final Steps!
If you’ve tried everything, but you still see the “no service” message you must check if your VoIP line is registered.
In some cases, your Yealink phone’s VoIP line can’t be registered because of incorrect credentials and the only way to check this is by contacting the Yealink Support team.
With some luck, they will identify the issue and fix it remotely!
