1. Reconnect the Yealink from Ethernet or Wi-Fi
The first step is to ensure the Yealink phone has established a secure connection to the internet, either via Wi-Fi or Ethernet.
If your Yealink model does not support Wi-Fi, then you’re limited to only using Ethernet.
So, let’s learn how to manage both types of connection on Yealink phones!
1.1 How to Reconnect the Yealink Phone from Ethernet?
While the Ethernet connection can be far more reliable than Wi-Fi, the phone could still occasionally lose connectivity.
Follow these steps to reconnect the Yealink phone from Ethernet:
- Disconnect the Ethernet cable from the Yealink phone.
- Unplug the other end from your router or modem unit.
- Wait for 30–40 seconds while the cable is unplugged.
- Reconnect the cable on both ends and test the phone.
1.2 How to Reconnect the Yealink Phone from Wi-Fi?
Remember that most Yealink phones do not support Wi-Fi natively and may require an external dongle in order to be compatible.

2. Replace the Phone’s Ethernet Cable (Wired)
If you’re using the Yealink phone in a wired setup, and it doesn’t seem to connect or respond to the network, the Ethernet cable could be faulty.
Often, a defective Ethernet could have visual signs such as bents, cuts, or exposed parts of the cable insulation.
We recommend installing an alternative Ethernet cable and testing the network connection of the Yealink phone.
Test Yealink on Different Ethernet Inputs
If replacing the Ethernet cable doesn’t seem to do anything, use the remaining gigabit port on the Yealink phone to connect the Ethernet and plug it into one of the yellow ports on the router.
Then, ensure both of the cable’s latches have securely clicked in and test Yealink’s connection.
Important: Verify that the cable connections are tightly plugged.
3. Change the Default SIP Port of Yealink
So, setting up port forwarding in a multi-phone configuration could sometimes be complex for someone unfamiliar with the process.
Hence, you must ensure that all important ports of your Yealink phone are opened for communication, so the phone is able to connect to the network.
You can configure the default SIP port along with the TCP, UDP, and IP segment ports through the web GUI of the phone.
3.1 How to Access Yealink Web GUI?
- Ensure the phone is connected over Ethernet to the router.
- Go to the Settings → Status on the phone to check the IP.
- Type the phone’s IP address in your computer’s browser.
- Next, sign in using “admin/admin” or “admin/password.”
- Navigate to the “Account” tab and locate “Local SIP port.”
- Configure the default value of the local SIP port to “5060.”
- Save the changes and exit the configuration of the Yealink.
3.2 Which Secondary Ports to Open On a Yealink Phone?

4. Modify Yealink’s DNS Configuration
If your Yealink phone won’t connect to network, perhaps the DNS settings of your phone are misconfigured.
To configure the DNS, you must re-access the phone’s web GUI, so refer to the instructions in the previous solutions.
Follow these steps to properly configure the DNS of the Yealink phone:
- Access the web GUI of the Yealink phone and go to Network.
- If not already configured, set values for the following options:
- IP Address: Set to the default IP address of your network (check in “What’s my IP”)
- Subnet Mask: Set to 255.255.0.0, a subnet mask designed for a fixed IP address.
- IP Gateway: This tile should be configured automatically. Do not enter a new value.
- Enable the “Static DNS” field and configure the following tiles:
- Primary DNS: Set to Google’s default DNS – 8.8.8.8
- Secondary DNS: Set to Google’s secondary DNS – 8.8.4.4
There are multiple options for the secondary DNS, such as the Level 3 DNS – 4.2.2.2 or the one provided by your internet provider.
Hence, determine which one allows your phone to connect.
5. Troubleshoot your Internal Network
One of the possible causes why Yealink phones refuse to connect with the network is because of an underlying issue with the local network.
So, neither Wi-Fi nor Ethernet will work on your phone if there’s a bad connection or an outage with the internal network (e.g., the broadband).
Here are a few steps to troubleshoot issues with the internal network:
- Power cycle your router and modem by unplugging for 60 seconds.
- Verify Ethernet connection between the router and modem is secure.
- Check if the modem is tightly plugged into the service Ethernet jack.
- Factory reset the router and configure the Wi-F

- Navigate to the “Upgrade” tab and click on “Reset to Factory.”
- Follow the necessary instructions to conduct the factory reset.
Do not interact with the Yealink phone while the reset is still ongoing.
