1. Remove & Re-Add the Echo Pop
If you’re unable to connect your Echo Pop to the Wi-Fi network, one of the first steps you must try is entirely removing and re-adding the device from the Alexa app.
This will clear any setup errors and hopefully, your Echo Pop will connect to the Wi-Fi.
How to Remove Echo Pop from the Alexa App?
- Open the Alexa app on your mobile.
- From the tabs below go to “Devices.”
- Tap on the Echo Pop from the menu.
- Press the cogwheel (Settings) button.
- Select “Bluetooth Devices” in the list.

2. Use the Same Wireless Network
It’s crucial to use the same Wi-Fi network on your smartphone, as the one you’re attempting to pair your Echo Pop with.
Hence, if your smartphone is on a different Wi-Fi network/band or the 4G/5G (cellular) is on, you won’t be able to connect and get stuck on the Wi-Fi pairing screen.
So, whether you use Android or iOS, go to Settings → Wi-Fi and verify that your phone is connected to the Wi-Fi network you intend to pair your Echo Pop with.
Important: Disable Your Cellular (Mobile Data)
Another very important factor is to disable your mobile data (4G/5G) while performing the Wi-Fi pairing of your Echo Pop.
This is because if you have both Wi-Fi and mobile data enabled, your smartphone might bounce between them, based on which provides a faster internet connection.
Hence, if you experience the so-called “auto-bouncing” during the Echo Pop setup, you won’t be able to connect the smart speaker to the Wi-Fi.
Here’s how to disable the mobile data (cellular) on your Android or iOS phone:
- Android – Settings → Network & Internet → Carrier → Mobile Data → OFF
- iOS – Settings → Mobile Service → Mobile Data → OFF
Quick Tip: Keep the mobile data off, until you connect your Echo Pop to the Wi-Fi successfully!
3. Sign Out and In your Alexa App
Sometimes, the inability to connect Echo devices to the Wi-Fi comes from the Alexa app on the mobile device, rather than something else.
Hence, a quick way to resolve temporary bugs with the app is to sign out from your Alexa app (account) and then immediately sign back in to retry.
To sign out and in your Alexa app, follow these instructions:
- Open the Alexa app and go to “More.”
- Press the “Settings” section in the tab.
- Scroll down all the way to the bottom.
- Tap on the “Sign Out” button to log out.
- You will be brought to the login screen.
- Insert your password and tap “Sign In”.
When you’re signed in, follow the instructions from the first solution to pair Echo Pop to Wi-Fi!
4. Reboot Router & Optimize Wi-Fi
If the Alexa Echo Pop is not connecting to WiFi, one of the most frequent causes is the network, as well as your router.
This is why, we strongly recommend undertaking all the upcoming steps to ensure that your Wi-Fi is accessible and exclude the possibilities of interference.
4.1 Test if your Wi-Fi is Accessible
The first step is to ensure that your Wi-Fi is accessible by using a secondary device such as a smartphone, laptop, or anything that can connect.
If you can’t connect, this explains the reason why your Echo Pop is not connecting as well.
4.2 Power Cycle the Network Router
If you can’t connect to your Wi-Fi, the best solution you can attempt is a power cycle:
- Power off the router by using the power button.
- Unplug ALL cables from the back of your router.
- Wait for 60 seconds for a complete power cycle.
- Reconnect all cables back into their router ports.
Important: When ready, test whether you can access your Wi-Fi from your smartphone!
4.3 Optimize your Wi-Fi Reachability
If you can access your Wi-Fi with other devices, but Echo Pop is not connecting, there might be ongoing interference.
This can range from a distance to other wireless units or a bad Echolocation.
Here are a few quick steps to resolve interference:
- Ensure your Echo Pop is not covered/obstructed.
- Verify there are no other wireless devices nearby.
- Try moving Echo Pop closer to your Wi-Fi router.
- Test relocating the Echo right next to your router.

5. Toggle Off & On Airplane Mode
If the Wi-Fi is accessible, online, and working but Echo Pop is not connecting, perhaps the issue comes from your smartphone.
So, first test if the smartphone can access the web (any website), while connected to the Wi-Fi.
If not, then the phone is offline and that’s why Echo Pop can’t pair.
So, let’s refresh the network on your smartphone by toggling off and on the Airplane Mode!
- Android – Go to the Settings → Network & Internet → Airplane Mode ON → wait 10–15 seconds and set Airplane Mode OFF.
- iOS – Swipe down to reveal the notification center, tap the Airplane Icon to enable the mode, and after 10–15 seconds, tap again to disable it.
Warning: Don’t forget to disable the Airplane Mode, otherwise your phone will remain offline.
6. Switch from 5 to a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi
Echo devices are unique with their ability to support both 5 GHz and 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi networks, but sometimes the 5 GHz Wi-Fi frequency could be unreliable.
- This is because the 5 GHz Wi-Fi, even though it’s faster, has a hard time traveling through walls and its range is much shorter.
So, if your router shares two Wi-Fi networks, one with a “5” in its name (SSID) and the other with “2.4”, make sure to connect your phone and Echo Pop to the 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi.
I Only Have 1 Wi-Fi Network?
If you only have one Wi-Fi network, it’s either 2.4 GHz only or your router combines both Wi-Fi frequencies into one network.
So, if the router is dual-band, but you only see one Wi-Fi network, you need to log into the router’s control panel and disable a feature that combines your Wi-Fi.
To connect to your router’s control panel you need a PC (connected to the router) and insert “http://192.168.100.1/” into any browser’s URL bar.
Then sign in by using the admin/admin or admin/password credentials and search for this feature in the “Wireless” or “Advanced” tabs.
Note: The feature you’re looking for may be called “Band Steering”, “Auto-Connect”, “Smart Connect”, or “Adaptive Wi-Fi,” based on your router’s model.
7. Uninstall & Install the Alexa App
If your Amazon Echo Pop is not connecting to WiFi after all previous steps, the culprit might be deeply rooted in the app data of the Alexa application.
So, one of the final steps is to uninstall and reinstall the Alexa app from your Android or iOS smartphone.
- Android – Google Play Store → Profile Icon → Manage apps & devices → Amazon Alexa → Uninstall → Install.
- iOS – Tap and hold the Amazon Alexa app icon → Remove App → Delete App → App Store → Amazon Alexa → Tap on the Cloud button.
That’s it. Now sign into your account and check whether you can connect Echo Pop to Wi-Fi.
8. Reset Your Echo Pop to Default
If you’ve tried everything but Echo Pop is not connecting to the Wi-Fi, the final step to attempt is factory resetting the smart speaker.
This will ultimately unpair the device from the Alexa app, erase all the settings, and bring back the Echo Pop’s operating system to a factory default state.
Here’s how to factory reset Echo Pop in easy steps:
- First, ensure that your Echo Pop is powered on.
- Find the Volume Down & Microphone buttons.
- Hold both buttons simultaneously for 20 seconds.
- Wait until the light bar powers off and on again.
Now your Echo Pop is factory reset.
So, go ahead and follow the instructions from the first step in this guide to attempt and connect the speaker to the Wi-Fi.
If you can’t, well, we recommend trying to connect the device to a different router or share a hotspot from a mobile to test with it.
