Eufy S330 Unable To Play Live Video? (Easy Solutions!)
If you are occasionally greeted by the “Eufy S330 unable to play live video” error when you want to check on the live feed in the eufy Security app, you’re not alone.
Among the most common causes for the problem are:
That’s only the tip of the iceberg! Luckily, here at ZontSound, we have managed to discover several well-working solutions!
Eufy S330 Unable to Play Live Video? – Fix Now
Note: Have you tried powering the eufy S330 camera off and on to test?
1. Resynchronize the Camera and HomeBase
As established, the primary cause of the live video loss of the eufy S330 is a problem with the wireless connection.
So, since eufy cameras do not connect to the Wi-Fi directly and use the network of the HomeBase instead, the first step is to resynchronize your camera as follows:
Now, wait for several seconds and determine whether the status of the camera changes back to “Online” within the eufy Security app.
If not, then the eufy HomeBase might be disconnected…
2. Change the eufy HomeBase Wi-Fi Network
For the eufy S330 camera to connect, the HomeBase must also be online, thus connected to a compatible 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network.
You can change the HomeBase Wi-Fi network through the eufy Security application and attempt to resynchronize the camera as referenced in solution 1.
We also recommend checking if there is a red light on the eufy S330 indicator before changing the Wi-Fi, as that could indicate a different, non-network-related problem with the eufy camera.
⚠️Warning: If you have a dual-band router, note that the eufy HomeBase only supports 2.4 GHz!
Follow these steps to change the Wi-Fi of the eufy HomeBase:
When using 2.4 GHz, the connecting device (HomeBase in your situation) must remain within ~100–150 feet of the router during and after the setup.
As for 5 GHz, the range limitation is bigger, about ~50–60 feet!
3. Reconfigure the Camera Streaming Settings
Perhaps, a high streaming resolution setting or a demanding encoding format might be overloading the camera, especially if the Wi-Fi is not consistent or weak.
Temporarily lowering the streaming quality and changing the encoding format can resolve your live video problems.
Note: You can access the live video settings of the eufy S330 within the eufy Security app, under the “Devices” → “[Your Camera]” page.
3.1: Lower your Streaming Quality:
Access the Camera Settings menu to find video quality options and reduce the Streaming Quality from High to Medium (or Low) to lessen the bandwidth usage and test the live feed of the affected camera.
3.2: Adjust Video Encoding Format:
Now, locate the Encoding Format options under Video Settings, and specify an alternative codec for the formatting of the live stream.
Test on UTF-8 and UTF-16, as these tend to be the easiest-to-process formatting rules.
3.3: Change the RTSP Stream Settings:
The final step is to test on each of the RTSP stream settings (not available for all HomeBase and installation models), to determine if the live feed is restored.
Do not forget to test each setting and reboot the camera before attempting to access the live feed.
Note: The eufy S330 will not detect motion if the streaming settings are improperly set up!
4. Deactivate “VoLTE” for Dual-SIM Usage
When your eufy S330 playback is not working, you need to check whether you use mobile data to view the live feed, especially if you have a dual-SIM.
Deactivating the VoLTE on the second SIM can resolve these issues, along with other potential cellular-related issues.
4.1 How to Disable VoLTE on iOS:
- Open Settings and head to Cellular → Cellular Data Options.
- For older iOS, go to Settings → Mobile Data → Voice & Data.
- Deactivate VoLTE, labeled as “Voice & Data” or “LTE,” below.
4.2 How to Disable VoLTE on Android:
- Open Settings and navigate to Connections → Mobile Networks.
- Locate the “VoLTE calls” option or a similar setting in the data tab.
- Now, press the switch next to “VoLTE calls” to deactivate the feature.
Tip: We recommend using Wi-Fi while viewing the playback of the eufy S330 to avoid potential cellular-related issues (use data only when necessary).
5. Troubleshoot the Router Wi-Fi Network
If the eufy S330 is still unable to display the live feed, then something is almost certainly wrong with your network or Wi-Fi.
Hence, we have prepared several different methods to identify and troubleshoot potential network-related issues.
Step #1: Power Reset the Router
The first and easiest solution to attempt is to perform a complete power cycle of the network router.
The procedure involves suspending the power supply of the device for a solid ~2–3 minutes, until all of the electricity has drained completely.
Step #2: Reduce Network Usage
Start by disconnecting all unnecessary devices from your Wi-Fi to lower bandwidth usage as much as possible and to ensure the 2.4 GHz band has sufficient capacity for the eufy S330.
This can prevent network congestion that potentially interrupts the live feed of the camera.
Step #3: Factory Reset the Router:
Next, locate the Reset button on your router, press it for 10 seconds to initiate a factory reset, and proceed with a complete reconfiguration of the network.
This step is recommended only if you’re confident in re-adjusting your router settings from scratch, so contact your ISP if you have any worries.
Warning: Factory resetting the router will erase all network configurations and settings, so you will need to set up your router from scratch.
6. Test the eufy S330 on a Mobile Hotspot
Another thing to try is to temporarily switch the eufy HomeBase to your smartphone’s mobile hotspot to determine if the problem is network-related.
Verify your mobile plan has sufficient mobile data left (MB/GB) before proceeding with the setup instructions.
Note: Keep your smartphone within ~10–15 feet of the HomeBase while testing the connection!
Step #1: Set Up Phone’s Personal Hotspot:
Step #2: Change the eufy HomeBase Wi-Fi:
Once the hotspot is activated, follow the instructions in solution #2 to change the HomeBase Wi-Fi to one of your smartphones.
Also, do not forget to specify the correct SSID and input the password correctly.
Note: If the camera keeps refusing to connect, verify that it is installed according to eufy’s installation instructions.
7. Reset the Eufy S330 to Default Settings
If the Eufy S330 is unable to play live video, and none of the solutions so far have been deemed effective, it is time for a factory reset.
This process will permanently erase your camera Wi-Fi details and settings, potentially resolving the streaming issue by restoring default configurations.
To reset your eufy S330 camera to the defaults, follow these steps:
- Locate the SYNC button on the rear panel of the eufy S330 camera.
- Press and hold the button for about 10 seconds to initiate the reset.
- Next, release the button after the camera has fully powered down.
- Now, after the reset, resynchronize the camera to test your live feed.
