eufy S330 Not Detecting Motion – Expert Solutions

Note: Have you made sure the eufy camera is not pointed towards any reflective surfaces?

1. Check the Monitored Area of the Eufy S330

check the monitored area of eufy s330

Perhaps, the targeted area might be outside of the eufy S330 camera’s viewing range of 26ft (≤8m), preventing the activation of the motion detection.

Hence, the first step is to adjust the camera’s physical position and alignment to ensure the monitored area is covered properly.

  • Verify that the area you want to detect is within 26ft/8m of the eufy camera.
  • Reposition the camera and ensure it is mounted at a height of about 7–10 ft.
  • Test by walking inside the camera detection range to check for any alerts.

To receive a motion detection alert, you must have granted the eufy mobile application all of the required access on your smartphone.

This means that all notifications and push alerts must be set to “ON”, along with the reset of the permissions.

2. Set the eufy Notifications to “Enabled”

The notifications must be enabled both in the application and in the phone settings, as disabled alerts can cause the eufy S330 to miss out on motion issues going unnoticed.

The first step is to verify that all push alert types are active, including motion and security notifications.

2.1 How to Enable eufy In-App Notifications:

  • Open the eufySecurity application and tap the side menu.
  • Navigate to the “Settings” page, then “App Permissions”.
  • Head to “Notifications”, then tap on “Allow Notifications”.

2.2 How to Enable eufy Phone App Notifications:

If you have an iOS device:

  1. First, go to Settings and then Notifications.
  2. Next, you must locate the eufy application.
  3. Set the “Allow Notifications” rule to “ON”.

If you have an Android device:

enable eufy phone app notifications
  1. Open the Settings and go to Apps & Notifications.
  2. Then select “See all apps” and choose the eufy app.
  3. Finally, tap on the Notifications to modify the settings.

Additionally, verify your smartphone is not set to “Do Not Disturb”.

Next, check if the “Airplane” mode has been activated by accident, as this suppresses the notifications from all applications.

3. Adjust the Eufy S330 Detection Settings

The motion detection settings of your eufy camera: Activity Zone, Detection Sensitivity, and Detection Type define how and when your device picks up motion.

Hence, adjusting each of these settings is mandatory for the eufy camera detection functionality.

Note: The settings can be configured in the eufy app under “Motion Detection”.

Option #1: Adjust Activity Zone

adjust activity zone:

The Activity Zone feature allows the user to define specific areas within the eufy S330 live feed view for motion detection, ignoring activity outside the zones to reduce unwanted notifications.

In the Motion Detection settings, you can set up to 3 x zones by drawing boundaries around key areas like your doorway.

When ready, save the changes and test the eufy motion detection.

Option #2: Set Detection Sensitivity

Detection Sensitivity controls the eufy S330 motion detection range, with seven levels from 1 (low) to 7 (high).

The default configuration when the camera is initially set up should be “4” for balanced performance.

However, increasing the sensitivity slightly could resolve your problem.

set detection sensitivity:

Note: Adjust the sensitivity in the Motion Detection settings, test with Motion Test Mode to determine what is the optimal level for your camera.

Option #3: Configure Detection Type

The Detection Type determines what the eufy S330 detects, with available options like “All Motions” for all activity or “Human Only”.

Switch between these modes in the Motion Detection settings to determine if there will be an improvement in the detections.

Keep in mind that selecting All Motions is intended for broader coverage, while Human Only is intended to minimize false alerts during the day.

4. Activate “Video Record & Push Notification”

So, if the eufy S330 motion detection is not working even after adjusting the detection settings, the Video Record and Push Notification feature might be disabled in your selected security mode.

This prevents the camera from recording or sending alerts, and activating this feature manually allows the mobile application to initiate recording requests and communicate with your phone.

activate “video record & push notification”

Here’s how to set up the feature for your eufy S330 camera:

  • Open the eufy app, go to Smart → Mode, and tap Home or Away Settings.
  • Next, navigate to Video Record & Push Notification in the settings section.
  • Next, activate both options to ensure recording and notifications are active.

Note: Determine if walking in front of the detection range activates a recording and sends a push notification to your smartphone.

5. Recharge the Eufy S330 to Max Battery

Perhaps, a low battery of the eufy S330 might be the reason why your camera is not picking up motion.

So, recharging your camera to a full battery ensures all of the functionalities (including the motion sensors) are working properly, without encountering any issues.

  • Press the SYNC button on the S330 until it beeps.
  • Press Next and wait until the camera is detected.

All app settings for the eufy camera will be erased after removal, so ensure the camera is within 10 feet of the HomeBase during setup.

When ready, reapply all of the motion detection settings we have discussed in solution #3 and test the camera.

7. Update the Eufy S330 Camera Firmware

If your eufy S330 is still not detecting motion, an outdated firmware version might be causing the problem.

Fortunately, you can manually update the camera via the eufy app, as long as it maintains a secure connection to the internet.
