1. Check if the TV Receives Power

check if the tv receives power

First things first, let’s make sure your Hisense Roku TV is turned on.

If you are not hearing any audio and the LED power indicator on the front is completely blank, chances are the TV is OFF or not getting power, which indicates a power-related problem.

You should start by verifying that the Hisense Roku TV is receiving electricity from the electrical source.

Your Hisense Roku TV uses a standard 2-prong power cable, so verify that it’s securely plugged into both the TV and the wall outlet.

To rule out a faulty outlet, plug something else, like a lamp or charger, into the same socket to test whether it’s working.

If the outlet is dead, test it via a different one, which has been proven.

Important: Remove Third-Party Devices!

While checking the power, don’t overlook anything else plugged into the outlet or power strip as your TV.

Third-party devices like extension cords, smart plugs, dividers or even other appliances using the same outlet might be overloading it.

Note: Unplug everything from the strip, or connect the Hisense Roku TV directly to the source!

2. Increase the Roku TV Brightness

increase the roku tv brightness

If the Hisense Roku TV room is super bright and your TV  brightness is set too low, it might look like the screen isn’t showing a picture at all.

If that’s the case, dim the lights, shade the windows, and try to navigate to Settings TV picture settingsTV brightness.

You have a few options to select from:

  • Brighter
  • Bright
  • Normal
  • Dark
  • Darker

Select “Brighter” or “Bright” to illuminate the picture on your Hisense Roku TV.

If you, however, see absolutely nothing and can’t navigate through the menus, continue reading on…

3. Select the Roku TV Default Input

If your TV is powered on but still not showing a picture, the problem might be simpler than you think–the input could be set to the wrong source.

When your Hisense Roku TV input is tuned to an external input that’s either not connected or turned off, you’ll see nothing but pitch black.

To fix this, you need to switch it back to the default Roku input, specifically the “Home” source.

There are two straightforward ways to change the input:

#1 Using the Roku Remote

So, using your Roku remote, find and tap the Inputs button, usually found at the top right. Scroll through the sources until “Home” is highlighted, then select it.

#2 Using the Built-In TV Button

You can also change the Hisense Roku TV inputs solely by using the built-in button, which is either on the front left/right or middle.

Find the button on the Hisense Roku TV, and start tapping it in short intervals. With each tap, you’ll move down the list, and to select, just stop pressing.

The highlighted source will be selected!

Note: If the “Inputs” menu does not appear when you try to enter it, this suggests that the TV screen is not working.

4. Check the Hisense TV Backlight

check the hisense tv backlight

So, if your Hisense Roku TV powers on, but the screen stays black, the problem might not be the input, but the backlight.

The backlight is what lights up the display, and if it’s dead, you’ll hear sound but see nothing on the TV display.

There’s a simple trick to check whether the TV backlight is dead, called the flashlight method, and you can do it right at home.

Here’s how it works:

  • Turn on the TV: Switch on the TV and make sure that something is playing, like a show or at least the Roku Home menu (orienting by the sound).
  • Dim the room: Decrease the room’s lights or turn them off, then angle a flashlight onto the screen (your phone’s flashlight will do the trick).
  • Look for Silhouettes: If you see dim outlines of menus, images, or movement, your TV screen is working, but the backlight seems dead.

If you don’t see anything at all, even with the flashlight, the issue could be more severe, like a dead screen or a loose internal connection.

What To Do If the Backlight is Dead?

If the flashlight test shows the backlight is dead, don’t panic, it’s not necessarily the end for your Hisense Roku TV.

You should contact Hisense support or the local merchant to try to claim your warranty.

Alternatively, bring your TV for repair, which may be costly but guaranteed to help you.

5. Reset the Hisense TV to the Default

reset the hisense tv to default

If your Hisense Roku TV is powered on, but the picture is still missing, a factory reset may save the day.

You can perform a factory restoration without seeing the picture, as long as the Hisense TV is powered on, as there is a built-in RESET button.

Find the “RESET” button on the back, usually near the USB ports. It might be a standard button or hidden in a small pinhole, depending on your TV model.

To start, press and hold the button for 10 seconds or more and keep holding until the Hisense TV restarts.

If the button is in a pinhole, use something sharp like a pencil, paperclip, or needle.

Note: The reset takes 2–3 minutes and erases everything on the TV back to factory settings!

Hisense Roku TV Picture Not Showing on HDMI – [FIXED]

If you have your Hisense Roku TV connected over HDMI to a source device, but see nothing on the screen, don’t worry–it’s a common issue.

This can be sorted out with a few quick steps, so let’s get that picture back!

1. Cycle through the HDMI Sources

cycle through the hdmi sources

If your Hisense Roku TV isn’t showing a picture through HDMI, the issue might be that it’s stuck on the wrong source.

So, cycling through the HDMI inputs is an easy way to make sure the TV is searching for input on the correct HDMI port.

Here are the available inputs on Hisense Roku TV:

  • Home: The default Roku interface, without input source.
  • HDMI 1 (eARC): For devices like a cable box or console.
  • HDMI 2: A second HDMI input for HDMI-enabled devices.
  • HDMI 3: The third HDMI input for HDMI-enabled devices.
  • AV: Mainly used for older devices with composite cables.
  • TV/Antenna: For OVA channels, if you’ve got an antenna.

You can switch HDMI sources using the Inputs button on the Roku remote or the built-in button on the TV itself.

We suggest checking all three HDMI ports, HDMI 1 (eARC), HDMI 2, and HDMI 3, to find the active one and get your picture back.

Important: Are you sure that your source device is connected and turned on?

2. Unplug & Switch your HDMI Ends

unplug & switch your hdmi ends

If cycling through the HDMI sources didn’t bring your picture back, a simple cable switch might do the trick.

Unplug your HDMI cable from both the Hisense Roku TV and your source device, then switch the ends of the HDMI cable and verify that both connectors are tightly plugged in.

Note: Verify the HDMI cable isn’t damaged (frayed body, bent connectors, or visible corrosion).

3. Test a Different HDMI Port & Input

If you still see no picture on your HDMI-connected Hisense Roku TV, test connecting the HDMI cable to a different HDMI port.

We recommend testing with HDMI 2 and HDMI 3, however, don’t forget to select the correct source from the Inputs tab.

test a different hdmi port & input

If you see no picture on any of the sources, chances are that the issue comes from your source device, hence try to power cycle it via unplugging.

Note: If you have a different HDMI source device to test with, you can narrow down the circle of possibilities even further.

4. Change your Roku TV’s Resolution

Well in some cases when Hisense Roku TV is not showing a picture from HDMI sources, the fault is due to a resolution mismatch between your source device and Hisense Roku TV.

  • You can change the Hisense Roku TV resolution on demand by going to Settings Display Type.
change your roku tv’s resolution

You should then try via a different resolution:

  • Automatic
  • 4K HDR TV
  • 4K TV
  • 1080p TV
  • 720p TV

When ready, open the Inputs menu and select the HDMI source of your device to check if the picture is going to appear.

If not, try lower HD resolutions, such as the 1080p TV and 720p TV.

Note: If you still see no picture through the HDMI source, just replace the cable, as this would be the only thing left to attempt–best of luck.
