Owlet Cam 2 Error Code OC 21 – Fixed in 6 Working Steps!
Note: Have you tried rebooting your Owlet Cam 2 and trying to set it up again?
1. Set Up Owlet Cam 2 Correctly
The first step in the troubleshooting process of error code OC 21 on Owlet Cam 2 is to learn the correct steps to set up the camera.
The process is quite straightforward as long as your network and Wi-Fi are accessible, consistent, and ready to use.
Here’s how to set up Owlet Cam 2 the correct way:
- Download and install the Owlet application (Google Play/App Store).
- Then either create a new account or sign in to your existing account.
- Next, navigate to your Account settings and choose “Add Device”.
- Follow the steps until the application asks you for your Wi-Fi details.
- A QR code will appear on the smartphone’s screen (network details).
- Show the QR code to your Owlet Cam 2 lens to start the connection.
If your camera gets stuck on blinking blue and the app shows error OC 21, this means that the Cam 2 can’t connect to the Wi-Fi.
So, let’s continue accordingly…
2. Use the Same Wi-Fi Network
It’s critical to use the same Wi-Fi network on both your Owlet app smart device and your Owlet Cam 2.
So, go ahead and check which Wi-Fi network your smart device is connected to and, if necessary, change the Wi-Fi now.
Please note that this doesn’t mean the same router network. Your smart device must be paired with the same Wi-Fi band as your Owlet camera.
Such a Wi-Fi mismatch appears when you have a dual-band router, so let’s learn more about this in the following solution…
⚠️Important: It’s crucial to disable the Mobile Data on your smartphone to prevent your phone from Wi-Fi bouncing (alternating) during the Owlet Cam 2 setup process.
3. Switch to your 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi
If you are using a dual-band router, meaning that you have 2 available Wi-Fis (2.4 and 5 GHz), you need to use the 2.4 GHz frequency signal.
The Owlet Cam 2 does not support 5 GHz Wi-Fi, so if you try to connect your camera, you will get stuck on error OC 2 with a blinking blue light.
To change the Wi-Fi of your Owlet Cam 2, follow these steps:
- Head to the home screen of your Owlet app.
- Tap the gear icon and go to the “Wi-Fi” tab.
- Follow the steps to switch the Wi-Fi network.
If the camera has not been connected and set up with your Wi-Fi previously, follow the first-time connection instructions from the previous solution.
Note: When your ISP sets up your router, they typically name both Wi-Fi bands accordingly by including a “2.4” or “5” in their names (SSIDs).
4. Inspect the Wi-Fi Connection
If you’re using a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi, but the setup process is still being interrupted by error code OC 21 Owlet Cam 2, the issue could be related to the Wi-Fi itself.
It’s quite important to carry out a complete inspection of the network to determine whether it’s accessible, reliable, and consistent.
There are several critical steps to ensure your Wi-Fi reliability:
4.1 – Test your Wi-Fi Availability:
The most important check to do is the Wi-Fi availability. This means attempting to connect to the Wi-Fi using a different device and trying to stream some videos.
That’s the best way to identify whether your Wi-Fi signal is good and consistent.
If it’s too slow, laggy, or disconnecting, this clearly shows why your Owlet Cam 2 can’t connect and shows error code OC 21.
4.2 – Check your Wi-Fi Strength:
Using your smartphone, stand close to the Owlet Cam 2 location and check the Wi-Fi indicator on the top of the screen.
If you see only 1 bar of signal strength, this means that the signal is weak, and perhaps that’s causing the Owlet Cam error OC 21.
Note: Error OC 21 can also appear if your Owlet Cam 2 keeps disconnecting during the setup!
4.3 – Optimize your Wi-Fi Signal:
If your Wi-Fi is really slow, or even worse, inaccessible, there are quite a few different ways to optimize and improve the wireless connection:
Note: If you’re still facing Wi-Fi issues, get in touch with your internet service provider!
5. Reinstall the Owlet Application
Sometimes, error OC 21 on Owlet Cam 2 appears due to an application bug that is preventing the camera from completing the setup process.
The fastest way to deal with such an application software bug is to fully delete the app from the connection device and install a clean copy from the app store.
Note: Reinstalling the app not only solves issues but also guarantees that you’re running the latest application build available.
6. Factory Reset your Owlet Cam 2
If you’re still facing the Owlet Cam 2 error code OC 21 despite all your efforts, it’s clear that there is a problem with the camera itself.
So, a clean factory reset process is capable of resolving all bugs by completely reinstalling the operating system.
⚠️Warning: The factory reset unpairs your Owlet Cam 2 from the app and reverts all settings to defaults!
Here’s how to easily reset your Owlet Cam 2 to factory settings:
- Find the “Reset” button on the back of the Owlet Cam 2.
- Hold the reset button for ~20 seconds to start the reset.
- You can release it after you see “Resetting, please wait”.
- The Owlet camera will shortly announce “Ready to pair”.
When you’re ready to attempt and set up your camera, follow the steps at the start of this guide to verify that you’re doing the configuration properly.
