How to Fix the Stuck Echo Studio Red Ring in Easy Steps?
Tip: Try holding the “Microphone” button on the Echo Studio for 2–3 seconds after each step!
1. Enable the Echo Studio’s Microphone
Fortunately, enabling and disabling your Echo Studio’s microphone can be done by pressing a single button on the outer panel.
The ring will remain solid red for as long as the microphone is disabled and the Alexa voice assistant will also be deactivated.
- To turn on the Echo Studio’s microphone, press the microphone button for 2–3 seconds on the plastic shell, surrounding the top of the speaker.
The mic button represents a small circle with a straight line going over it, right in between the “Volume UP” (+) and “Volume DOWN” (-) buttons.
If the red light is still there, proceed with the next solution, as there could be a different cause.
2. Reset the Echo Studio’s Power Supply
So, a quick way to address any issues with the Echo Studio is to perform a power reset of the hardware.
All you need to do is disconnect the speaker’s power adapter for a short amount of time and wait until the residue power has drained entirely.
This process takes about 2 minutes.
Here’s how to perform a power reset on the Echo Studio:
- Unplug the two-prong adapter from the back of the Echo Studio.
- Disconnect the other end of the cable from the electrical outlet.
- Hold the button with a small dot in the center for ~15 seconds.
- Wait for 35–40 seconds until the speaker discharges completely.
- Reconnect the power cable on both ends and test the Echo unit.
How to Inspect Echo Studio Speaker for Power Issues?
Underlying issues with the speaker’s power supply can result in a consistent red light.
So, we recommend checking the following things in the Echo Studio’s setup:
Note: Issues with the power supply are often accompanied by distinct symptoms of the speaker, such as rebooting, powering off, or even an alternative color code.
3. Check Your Echo Studio’s Wi-Fi Status
In some cases, the red ring on Echo Studio occurs due to a problem with the Wi-Fi connectivity.
So, regardless of how many times you press the “Mute/Unmute” button or try to input any voice command, the Echo Studio speaker will not respond, if there’s a fault with the Wi-Fi connection.
Here’s how to check the Wi-Fi of the Studio speaker in easy steps:
- Ensure the Studio speaker is registered within the app.
- Launch the app and navigate to the “Devices” section.
- Select the Echo Studio from the list of added devices.
- Press on “Device Settings” from the on-screen menu.
- Locate the “Wi-Fi Network” tile and press on “Change.”
- Select your router’s Wi-Fi network from the options list.
- When required, input the Wi-Fi password and tap “Pair.”
Important: Test the Echo on your Phone’s Hotspot
If you’re uncertain whether your network delivers reliable Wi-Fi connectivity, we recommend testing the Echo speaker on your mobile device’s hotspot.
Well, thanks to the Echo Studio’s compatibility with both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz networks, you can effortlessly pair it to your mobile.
- To activate the hotspot on Android, go to “Settings” → “Network & Internet” → “Hotspot & tethering” and set the feature to “On.” Check the same page for the password value.
- To activate the hotspot on an iPhone, open the “Settings” app → “Personal Hotspot” and enable the “Allow Others to Join” tile. Check the hotspot password underneath that tile.
Note: Once you’ve enabled ii follow the steps earlier in this step to reconnect the Echo Studio.
4. Temporarily Deregister the Echo Studio
The Echo Studio red ring could also result from a registration fault with the speaker.
You can quickly deregister the speaker using the Amazon Alexa app and check if that solves the red light on your Echo Studio.
Don’t worry, later you can easily re-add the device without potential issues.
Follow these steps precisely to deregister the Echo Studio easily:
- Open the Amazon Alexa app and go to the “Devices” tab.
- Extend the “Device Type” drop-down menu from the page.
- Next, select “Echo & Alexa” and tap on the “Apply” button.
- Choose the Echo Studio you wish to deregister from the app.
- Tap “Settings,” scroll to the bottom, and tap on “Deregister.”
So, back in the “Devices” page, use the “Add Device” button to re-add the Echo Studio and reconfigure all of its settings.
Do not adjust or modify any of the settings that are unknown to you, as this could cause other issues with the speakers.
Note: if the red light is still there, try holding the Microphone button for 2–3 seconds to check if there’s a response.
5. Restore the Echo Studio Default Settings
The factory reset is another quick and highly effective solution for underlying issues with the Echo speaker.
Initiating the factory reset is quick and easy, but the downside is that all of your speaker’s settings will be restored to default values.
Nonetheless, follow these steps to factory reset your Echo Studio:
- Ensure the Echo is powered on, and the LED ring is illuminated.
- Hold “Action” for 20 seconds and wait for the ring to power off.
- Next, hold the “Volume Down” and “Microphone OFF” buttons.
- Wait for the ring to turn OFF and ON again to finish the process.
- After your speakers enter the Setup Mode (Yellow light) do this:
- Open the Alexa app and go to “Devices” → “+” → “Add Devices” → “Echo Studio” and follow the on-screen instructions.
Note: Once the setup is complete, the speaker’s lamp should be blank, unless you’ve requested a voice command or used another of the Studio speaker’s features.
