DJI Mic 2 Not Connecting To Receiver? (Quick Solutions!)

dji mic 2 not connecting to receiver

We understand the drawback when your DJI Mic 2 is not connecting to receiver, preventing you from capturing clear sound and transferring the audio to your computer.

The issue is often caused by synchronization failures, a low battery, or an outdated firmware of either the DJI transmitter or receiver.

We’ll provide steps to restore the connection and ensure seamless performance, so keep reading further.

DJI Mic 2 Not Connecting to Receiver? – (How to Fix)

Note: Keep the transmitter and receiver within a ~5–10 foot range throughout the guide!

1. Reconnect the DJI Transmitter & Receiver

There are two methods for connecting the DJI Mic 2 receiver and transmitter–automatic and manual resynchronization

If the automatic pairing fails, you could also activate the transmitter’s Bluetooth mode manually and reconnect with the receiver in less than 15 seconds.

Method #1 Automatic Pairing:

The DJI Mic 2 transmitter and receiver are designed to pair automatically when placed in the DJI Mic 2 charging case.

All you have to do is make sure the case is charged to a sufficient battery capacity and place both components inside for about ~15–20 seconds.

Method #2 Manual Pairing:

For manual pairing, press and hold the Record button on the transmitter for ~3–5 seconds to enter Bluetooth mode.

Then, place both the transmitter and receiver into the case, wait about 20 seconds, and remove the mic to test charging.

You don’t always need the charging case, but as long as the transmitter and receiver are within range, the synchronization should be successful.

2. Fully Recharge the Transmitter & Receiver

fully recharge the transmitter & receiver

A low battery on the transmitter or receiver can prevent synchronization and communication between the devices.

Fully recharging both components ensures they have enough power to establish a stable connection without signal disruptions.

To recharge, place both the transmitter and receiver in the DJI Mic 2 charging case, connect the case to a power source using the provided USB Type-C cable, and charge for about 3–4 hours.

If the case does not display the charging indicator, you can charge the equipment directly to bypass the case and isolate the problem.

Bonus Tip: Charge the DJI Mic 2 Separately:

charge the dji mic 2 separately
  • Plug the receiver’s side USB Type-C port into a 5V/1A adapter, and charge for approximately ~15–20 minutes.
  • Connect the transmitter’s bottom USB Type-C port to a compatible adapter, then verify charging after ~15–20 minutes.

Both the transmitter and receiver have a built-in USB Type-C port for direct charging, in case of a charging case failure.

You can either use the original charging equipment supplied by DJI for charging or borrow the USB Type-C from your phone’s charger.

3. Exit the “Bluetooth” on the Transmitter

The Bluetooth mode could be another reason why the DJI Mic is not connecting to the receiver.

Exiting Bluetooth mode by resetting the transmitter connection can help resolve the pairing issues of the receiver or the transmitter.

exit the “bluetooth” on the transmitter

Here’s how to exit Bluetooth mode on the DJI Mic 2 transmitter:

  • Remove the transmitter from the DJI Mic 2 charging case.
  • Locate the “Recordbutton on the side of the transmitter.
  • Press and hold the “Record” button for about ~5 seconds.
  • Release the button when the LED indicator turns green.
  • Position the DJI 2 transmitter back into the charging case.

Now, refer to the automatic pairing instructions in solution #1 and check if the receiver displays the status of either of the transmitters.

4. Recover the DJI Mic 2 Firmware Version

An outdated firmware might cause compatibility issues and prevent proper synchronization between the DJI components.

So, updating the firmware for both the transmitter and receiver individually might address the pairing problem and incompatibilities.

4.1 How to Update the Transmitter Firmware:

Download the latest firmware for the DJI transmitter from the DJI Mic 2 downloads page, and plug the device into your PC using the USB-C cable

Transfer the firmware .bin file to the transmitter root directory, and power on the transmitter to initiate the update.

Then, confirm that the status LED flashes red and green during the process.

4.2 How to Update the Receiver Firmware:

how to update the receiver firmware:

Download the most current firmware from the DJI Mic 2 downloads page, and plug the receiver into your computer via USB-C.

Then, copy the installed .bin file to the root directory, check for an “Updating” or “Processing” message on the receiver, and verify the firmware is up-to-date.

Note: ZontSound recommends rebooting the transmitter and receiver simultaneously after the update.

5. Eliminate Wireless RF Interference

Wireless interference could disrupt the 2.4 GHz or 5.8 GHz frequency bands used by the DJI equipment, so the next step is to minimize all wireless signals close to the receiver.

eliminate wireless rf interference

Here are several tips to reduce the wireless interference:

  • Keep the DJI Mic 2 away from Wi-Fi routers on the 2.4GHz band.
  • Switch off Bluetooth devices like nearby speakers or headphones.
  • Avoid microwave ovens, which cause strong interference when on.

Note: Keep all other wireless devices outside of a 20–30 foot radius from the DJI equipment.

6. Pair One DJI Transmitter at a Time

Another reason why the DJI Mic 2 won’t connect to the receiver could be because of a frequency overlap, caused by the secondary transmitter.

Pairing a single transmitter at a time ensures a stable connection by preventing interference between the equipment.

So, place the chosen transmitter and receiver in the charging case, wait for about 20 seconds for them to sync until the LEDs illuminate.

Repeat this process for each additional transmitter one by one and check if the synchronization is successful.

7. Wire the Receiver to your Phone or PC

wire receiver to your phone or pc

A direct wired connection to your phone or PC can bypass issues with the wireless syncing and ensure the receiver functions reliably for audio capture.

Power on the DJI Mic 2 receiver, connect it to your phone or PC using a USB-C cable, then open your recording app and test to confirm the receiver captures audio.

Double-check if the USB cable is in good condition and check if the receiver recognizes either of the transmitters.

8. Factory Reset the DJI Mic 2 Receiver OS

So, if the DJI Mic is not connecting to the receiver after all steps so far, and the cause remains unclear, a factory reset might resolve underlying software issues.

Note that this process will erase all settings and data stored on the DJI receiver permanently, so proceed with caution.

Here’s how to factory reset the DJI Mic 2 receiver:

  • Access the control panel on the DJI Mic 2 receiver’s display.
  • Navigate to “Settings” and locate the “Factory Reset” option.
  • Press the scroll button and select Confirm to initiate the reset.
  • Wait for the reset process to complete fully before proceeding.

Note: Do not place the receiver in the charging case until the reset finishes, and reconfigure the settings of the DJI Mic 2 once the reset is finalized.
