How to Fix When Kogan TV Stuck on Loading Screen?

Tip: To discover what’s wrong with your Kogan TV, follow the steps consecutively!

1. Soft Reset Your Kogan TV

soft reset your kogan tv

The first and perhaps the most effective way to fix loading issues on Kogan TV is via soft reset, which is only a power circulation on the device’s hardware.

This method works just like a restart but requires unplugging the TV from the power source for a few minutes to fully discharge.

If you don’t know how to power cycle, follow the steps below:

  1. First, verify that your Kogan TV is working.
  2. Press the Power button to turn the TV off.
  3. Unplug the power adapter from the outlet.
  4. Also, disconnect the power cable connector.
  5. Wait for about 3 minutes for a full discharge.
  6. Reconnect the TV’s power equipment back.

When ready with the power circulation, turn on the Kogan TV and test whether the device will still get stuck on the loading screen.

If yes, keep troubleshooting by following the steps below!

2. Unplug Your Video Source

unplug your video source

Are you sure your Kogan TV is stuck on the loading screen or that your video input is frozen?

Well, to find this out, you must unplug the video source of your Kogan TV, which can be a TV box, console, computer or anything with HDMI video transfer.

This will leave your Kogan TV in a standalone mode, which will help you learn whether your TV is getting stuck or the video input.

To take this method one step further, unplug everything from your TV but the power cable.

If your TV continues to get stuck, your connected equipment is not the cause of the TV freezing.

Note: When there is nothing connected to your TV, test whether the device will get stuck.

3. Update Kogan’s Firmware

update kogan’s firmware

One of the most common reasons for stuck Kogan TV, whether it’s on the logo or while booting up, upgrading the firmware is the most helpful solution.

Well, considering that the TV gets stuck, you won’t be able to update the TV from the settings; instead, you will need to use a USB drive.

If you’ve never updated a TV through a flash drive, we’ve prepared a complete tutorial involving several steps.

You must prepare a flash drive and a computer connected to the internet or Wi-Fi.

Here’s how to update Kogan TV by using a flash drive:

  1. Locate your Kogan product code on your TV’s back.
  2. Note down the model number, not the serial number.
  3. Search your TV’s number in the Kogan Help Centre.
  4. Download the (.bin) file as per the TV model number.
  5. Then, save the (.bin) file somewhere on the computer.
  6. Plug the USB flash drive into a computer’s USB port.
  7. Info: The USB flash drive must be a minimum of 8 GB.
  8. Right-click and format the USB flash drive to a FAT32.
  9. Put the downloaded (.bin) file into the USB flash drive.
  10. Next, turn off your Kogan TV using the Power button.
  11. Insert the USB flash drive into the “USB1” on your TV.
  12. Press and hold the Volume (+) button on your remote.
  13. While holding, press the TV Power button to turn it on.
  14. Release the Volume (+) after you see the blue screen.

The software updates when you see the blue screen on your Kogan TV. You should not unplug or power off the TV until the process is completed.

The television will restart when the update is completed and should not get stuck on the loading screen. If you still experience freezing issues, continue reading!

4. Check for TV Overheating

check for tv overheating

Overheating is one of the primary reasons why Kogan TV gets stuck on the loading screen or logo and, shortly after, restarts automatically.

This is a protective TV restart, which reduces the internal temperature and preserves the TV hardware from lethal heat damage.

If overheating is present, it’s unclear how long your Kogan TV will continue to get stuck and restart, so it’s necessary to cool off the television manually.

Here are a few ways to reduce your Kogan TV temperatures:

  1. Verify your TV is not close to heat conductors.
  2. Ventilate the TV’s room by opening a window.
  3. Clean the ventilation openings with a dry cloth.
  4. Use compressed air/vacuum to clean it further.
  5. Turn on a fan/AC blowing against the TV back.

Another way to check whether your Kogan TV gets stuck due to overheating is to unplug and leave the machine powered off for about 10 minutes.

That will be enough to decrease the HW temperature, and when you turn on the TV later, the machine should no longer be stuck on boot.

Note: Continuous overheating damages the TV hardware!

5. Switch to a Different Outlet

switch to a different outlet

If your Kogan TV is stuck on the Kogan screen, likely, that the power from the electrical outlet is not sufficient enough.

The power supply requires the most voltage after turning on the machine, and if the electrical current is insufficient, the Kogan TV restarts and tries repeatedly, over and over.

So, if possible, plug your Kogan TV into a different, proven-to-work outlet, even if you have to relocate your TV equipment.

If not possible, at least plug your Kogan TV directly into the current outlet by removing any third-party connectors such as power dividers, smart plugs or extenders.

Was There a Recent Power Outage?

If there was a recent power outage in your home, and your Kogan TV gets stuck on loading, the power in your home is likely fluctuating.

This may remain for 30 minutes, up to an hour after the power outage, preventing the Kogan TV from loading.

Tip: To test whether the power in your home is sufficient, turn on a light and observe whether the light is weak or flickering.

6. Check the Internet or Wi-Fi

check the internet or wi-fi

If your Kogan TV gets randomly stuck on loading screens of apps, web browsers and other software that requires the internet, perhaps your connection is the culprit.

You can quickly test whether this is true by checking whether your Wi-Fi is accessible by other devices or even TVs.

If you suspect the internet may be causing your Kogan TV to get stuck, power cycle your router and reconnect the TV from the Wi-Fi/Ethernet.

If you cannot identify the problem, keep reading to learn what’s left to do!

Note: Skip this step if your Kogan TV cannot reach the menus and gets stuck on the logo!

7. Return Kogan TV for Repair

As per many discussions with Kogan TV technicians, we understand that many other units are also stuck on the loading screen to no avail.

It turns out that Kogan TVs suffer from mainboard failure, which is directly related to the hardware.

Let’s learn a bit more…

Motherboard Failure?

As per Kogan TV technicians, the reason why Kogan TV gets stuck on loading (boot loop) is due to a faulty mainboard.

This is something that you can’t replace at home, except if you’re a technician and know the exact type of hardware that your Kogan TV requires as a replacement.

However, it’s been confirmed that your warranty fully covers this issue, and if yours is still intact, it’s worth returning your Kogan TV for repair.

This happens by calling Kogan directly or bringing your TV and active warranty to the local merchant you’ve purchased the TV from for inspection.

With some luck, you’ll get a free repair/replacement. Best of luck!
