Roku Soundbar Flashing Orange – 6 Ways to Fix Instantly!

Quick Note: Have you tested whether your broadband and Wi-Fi are online and accessible?

1. Power Cycle the Streaming Player

The first and most important step to attempt is the soft reset, also known as a power cycle.

The orange light is a prime indication that your Roku player has been disconnected from the internet, and in many cases, rebooting the device helps get your Roku streambar/soundbar back online.

  • To power cycle your Roku, press the Power button to turn off the player and unplug the adapter from the wall outlet for at least 60 seconds.

Then, turn back your Roku device on, and wait for a few minutes to check whether the soundbar will connect to the internet automatically.

2. Restart Router & Reconnect Cable

If your Roku soundbar is flashing orange even after the soft reset, this generally means that the device is unable to automatically reconnect to the internet.

The primary suspect here would be your Wi-Fi or broadband status, and you can address both possibilities by restarting the router.

Here are concise instructions on exactly what to do:

  1. Press the Power button on the back of your router.
  2. When the router powers off, unplug the AC adapter.
  3. Also, unplug the broadband cable (often an Optical).
  4. Then, connect the broadband cable to your router.
  5. Also, reconnect the power adapter after 60 seconds.
  6. Press the Power button to turn on back your router.
  7. Wait for 2 minutes for the internet to become online.

When the internet light on your router/modem starts blinking, this means your internet access is restored and your Roku should automatically reconnect.

Note: If you still see the orange light, reboot your Roku player and check whether it will connect!

3. Check & Uplift Internet Connection

check & uplift internet connection

Now that both your Roku player and Wi-Fi router/modem have been restarted, but the orange light is still there, you must verify the internet is accessible.

So, based on whether the Roku soundbar is connected via Wi-Fi or Ethernet, you must check the wireless network or broadband.

There are three chronological steps you should undertake to perform a thorough inspection!

3.1 Verify Broadband Is Working

The first step is to ensure that your broadband is online. If you have a computer connected to the router via an Ethernet wire, test the internet there.

If you’re offline, this immediately explains the reason why your Roku soundbar or streambar is disconnected and flashing is orange light.

Note: If your broadband is down, there is not much you can do, besides contacting your ISP.

3.2 Verify the Wi-Fi is Accessible

verify the wi-fi is accessible

If the broadband is online, and your Roku player is connected wirelessly to the router, you must ensure that the Wi-Fi is accessible.

The easiest way would be to use a smartphone to connect to the Wi-Fi and try to surf the web to justify whether you’re online or the Wi-Fi is currently down.

Note: If your Wi-Fi is not accessible, your Roku soundbar will not connect and flash in orange.

3.3 Close the Wireless Proximity

If your broadband and Wi-Fi are both online and accessible, but your Roku soundbar is flashing in orange, the device may be too far away from the router.

Try to shorten the proximity between the Roku streaming player and the router/modem to check whether it will automatically connect.

Quick Tip: Try connecting to the Wi-Fi using your smartphone when standing next to the Roku!

4. Re-Pair your Roku to the Internet

re-pair your roku to the internet

Note: Skip this step if the soundbar or streambar is unresponsive, and you can’t use the menus!

If your Roku streaming player is flashing in orange and is not unresponsive, meaning that you can access the menus, this makes troubleshooting easier.

Hence, the next step would be to go into the network settings and manually reconnect your Roku to the internet via Wi-Fi or Wired.

  • To connect the soundbar to the Wi-Fi, go to Settings → Network → Set up connection → Wireless → select Wi-Fi → insert password → Connect.
  • If Roku is connected via Ethernet, go to Settings → Network → Set up connection → Wired → wait for automatic connection attempt.

Easy as that, your Roku soundbar should now reconnect to the internet and the flashing orange light will disappear.

If not, however, double-check whether the Wi-Fi or broadband is accessible.

Quick Tip: If your Wi-Fi router is dual-band, verify that you’re connecting Roku to the 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi since it’s more reliable in regard to connectivity.

5. Factory Reset the Roku Soundbar

If nothing helps, and the Roku streambar is flashing orange and is unresponsive, the most powerful step is to perform a factory reset.

This will revert ALL settings to default and cleanly reinstall Roku’s operating system, which can easily resolve problems and glitches on a software level.

Warning: The steps below will permanently erase all the configurations on your Roku player!

Method #1 Reset via the Reset Button

If your Roku soundbar is blinking in orange and is unresponsive, the only way to reset the unit is by holding the “Reset” button on the back for 10 seconds.

Note that the Roku device must be working when holding the reset button, which will turn off the LED light, and when it comes back on, the reset is complete.

Method #2 Reset through the Settings

reset through the settings
  1. First, go to the “Settings” → “System”.
  2. Head to “Advanced System Settings.”
  3. Select “Factory Reset” and confirm it.

Reminder: After the reset, you must carry out the initialization and connect Roku to the internet!

6. Switch to an Ethernet Connection

If your Roku soundbar or streambar is flashing in orange and won’t connect to the Wi-Fi, maybe it’s worth trying to set up a wired connection.

Sadly, only Roku Ultra supports an Ethernet port, so for a soundbar/streambar you’ll need an Ethernet adapter (dongle) to be able to plug the cable.

switch to an ethernet connection
  • If you have an adapter, and the Ethernet cable is connected to your Roku player, go to Settings → Network → Set up connection → Wired.

This will automatically set up a wired connection, bypass all wireless limitations and the orange flashing light should disappear.

If not, perhaps the built-in LAN adapter of the Roku is defective.

Note: If you’re suspecting a problem on a hardware level, bring your device for servicing or try to claim the warranty by filing a reclamation.
