Denon Receiver Bluetooth Not Pairing? – Quick Solutions Inside!
Considering how straightforward a Bluetooth setup typically is, when your Denon receiver Bluetooth not pairing, there is an obvious problem.
The issue is often caused by:
Those are only the fundamental causes, and there are many more things that could prevent your Denon receiver from pairing.
In this guide, we will provide effective solutions to troubleshoot the fault and reconnect your Denon receiver in no time. Let’s get started!
How to Fix When the Denon Receiver Bluetooth Not Pairing?
Note: Remain within ~15 feet of the receiver throughout all methods in the guide!
1. Verify that Bluetooth Is Activated
The Bluetooth feature might be disabled on your Denon receiver or on the PC/smartphone you are attempting to connect.
Hence, to set up a Bluetooth connection, you must first activate the Bluetooth functionality on both devices to allow the wireless connection.
Here’s how to turn on Bluetooth on the Denon receiver and the connecting device:
Remain within a 10-meter range of the receiver so the Bluetooth device can scan your receiver.
Wait until “Denon” or “RECEIVER” appears in the list and tap it once to establish a connection.
2. Activate the Denon AVR Pairing Mode
If you are connecting with the Denon receiver for the first time, you will have to put the receiver in Pairing mode manually.
Although the Denon receiver activates the Pairing mode on its own, it could sometimes fail to discover nearby devices, eligible for connection.
Here’s how to activate the Pairing mode on a Denon receiver:
- First, locate the Bluetooth button on the receiver.
- Now, set the source of the receiver to “Bluetooth”.
- Press the “Option” button on the receiver remote.
- Tap “Pairing Mode” and press the “Enter” button.
While the receiver is in pairing mode, keep checking for new devices in the Bluetooth settings of your phone/PC, and tap on the Denon once it appears below.
When prompted for the pairing code, type “0000” to connect to the AVR.
3. Disconnect Paired Devices from the AVR
The next step is to verify that there are no other wireless devices currently paired to the Denon receiver.
A single device can pair with your receiver at a time, so before clearing the Bluetooth list, you can check if a family member or another device has currently established a connection.
To verify, check the Bluetooth settings of all nearby smartphones, computers, and laptops that were previously used with the AVR and check if the status is “Connected”.
If so, we recommend temporarily forgetting the connection of the Denon receiver until the issue is identified/resolved.
4. Reboot the AVR and the Source Device
Another simple reason why your Denon receiver is not pairing with Bluetooth is a temporary glitch or a Bluetooth error you are not in control of.
So, restarting both your connecting device and the AVR should solve all underlying, non-lasting issues and allow the Bluetooth connection to go through.
Here’s how to reboot your devices quickly:
- Press the “Power” button on the AVR and unplug the power for ~50–60 seconds.
- To restart your Bluetooth device, go to “Settings” → “General/Power” → “Reboot”.
Note: Follow the instructions in solution #1 to initially pair your connecting device.
5. Clear the Denon Receiver Bluetooth List
The Denon AVR can only connect with a total of 8 Bluetooth devices and play audio from a single one.
So, if you have already exceeded the pairing limit of the receiver, even if you don’t use a previously registered device now, a new device will not pair unless the list has a free slot.
Follow these steps to clear the Bluetooth list of the Denon AVR:
- On your Denon remote, press the Option button.
- Head down and choose “Bluetooth Transmitter”.
- After that, choose “Disconnect” to delete the list.
Note: Once cleared, reconnect only the devices you use regularly to your Denon AVR
6. Bypass Interference from Other Devices
The Bluetooth signal operates on a 2.4GHz frequency, which is also the frequency of all smart devices in your home.
Whenever too many devices operate on the same frequency nearby, they can conflict with the signal produced by your Denon AVR and completely disrupt the Bluetooth.
To resolve the interference, move the Denon receiver and the Bluetooth device closer together.
Also, dislocate any other devices that operate on the same frequency!
If possible to dislocate a device, make sure its Bluetooth function is set to “Off” while testing the receiver.
After you have confirmed that there is no longer interference, place the AVR in Pairing mode and pair it with your connecting device.
7. Forget & Re-add the Denon AVR Bluetooth
If your Denon receiver is still failing to establish a Bluetooth connection, the registered Bluetooth profile on your device might be the culprit.
Hence, to resolve this problem, ZontSound suggests forgetting and re-adding the AVR from the Bluetooth interface of your device.
Here’s how to forget the Denon Receiver Bluetooth connection:
Note: After the removal, follow the instructions in solution #1 and solution #2 to put the Denon in Bluetooth and then pairing mode. Then, discover it through your device to reconnect.
8. Reset the Source Device Network Settings
If you are still failing to connect with the AVR, then it is probably a fault with your source device.
So, if you have already tested using an alternative device to no avail, we recommend resetting the network settings, including Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and cellular data.
Note: All remembered Bluetooth and Wi-Fi networks will be erased by this reset!
8.1 How to Reset the Network Settings on Android:
- Open the Settings app and head to “System.”
- Tap “Advanced” to view more system options.
- Select “Reset options” from the menu below.
- Next, press “Reset Wi-Fi, Mobile, Bluetooth”.
- Confirm the reset and follow all the instructions.
8.2 How to Reset the Network Settings on iPhone:
- Launch the Settings app and tap “General.”
- Next, press on “Transfer or Reset [Device]”.
- Tap “Reset”, then “Reset Network Settings”.
- Confirm the reset and complete the process.
- Attempt to connect with the Denon AVR unit.
Note: The network settings on PC or Mac are defined by the network router!
9. Reset the Denon Receiver to Factory Settings
Well, if your Denon receiver Bluetooth is not pairing, despite all your efforts, a factory reset can resolve pretty much anything.
However, all settings of the AVR will be reset to the defaults after the process, so make sure to take screenshots of all the options you would like to restore after.
Follow these steps to reset the Denon receiver to its defaults:
- Push the Menu button on your Denon remote.
- Navigate to General and then Factory Reset.
- After that, press on “Reset all saved settings”.
- Confirm to start the reset on the AVR display.
- Wait until the receiver initiates the factory reset.
If your Denon receiver model does not have a Factory Reset option in the user interface menu, consult the Denon user manual to discover the exact instructions.
