wyze cam v3 flashing blue light

If your Wyze Cam v3 flashing blue light, don’t panic–it means that your camera can’t get past the setup process.

It typically happens after a firmware update or whenever the Wyze camera is struggling with application issues

The camera’s system will be deactivated for as long as the indicator keeps flashing blue, so it’s important to diagnose and resolve the issue immediately.

Luckily, we found a few working fixes! Let’s get started!

How to Fix the Wyze Cam v3 Flashing Blue Light?

Note: Wait for a few minutes to check whether the flashing blue light will turn solid, which means that the camera is connected and working properly.

1. Stabilize the A/C Supply

stabilize the a/c supply

In most cases, the flashing blue light is associated with an underlying power problem with your Wyze camera.

So, if you’ve used the product for a while now without encountering problems, it’s likely that you’re dealing with power insufficiency.

There are a few things you can do:

Check Wyze’s A/C Connection.

Begin by ensuring the Wyze adapter is secured with the Wyze camera and the electrical outlet. Also, double-check whether the USB cable’s leads are loose or pressured by an obstruction.

Use Wyze Cam v3 Original USB.

It’s important to use the original power supply equipment provided by Wyze with the camera. If you’re using an external adapter, try switching to the one that came with Wyze. If you don’t have it anymore, just try using a different cable instead.

Plug Wyze into a Different Outlet

Plug the Wyze camera into an alternative power outlet and check if the indicator is still blinking in blue. There could be a problem with the outlet that’s destabilizing the Wyze electrical supply.

Remove Third-Party Equipment

It’s crucial to ensure that the adapter of the Wyze camera connects directly with the outlet. We recommend temporarily removing external connectors such as strips or dividers from the setup.

Test with a Different USB/Adapter

If possible, test the camera with another compatible micro-USB adapter to check if the power supply improves and the indicator turns solid blue.

Important: Wait for at least 5 minutes to check whether the blinking blue will turn to solid blue!

2. Change Wyze’s Wi-Fi Network

One of the reasons why the Wyze camera fails to complete the setup is an unstable internet connection.

That’s why the next step is to manually change Wyze’s Wi-Fi network through the app and ensure all of the Wi-Fi details (SSID & password) are correct.

  • The Wyze Cam v3 does not support a 5 GHz Wi-Fi connection!

  2. Now, tap on your Wyze Cam v3 from the device screen.
  3. Go to “Device Information” → “Change Wi-Fi Network”.
  4. Tap a compatible 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi or your phone’s hotspot.
  5. Input the correct password and tap the “Connect” button.

We also recommend pairing your Wyze camera to the smartphone’s hotspot to check whether there’s a network problem.

If Wyze functions properly while connected to your phone’s hotspot, then consider contacting your internet service provider to discuss potential network problems.

3. Re-add your Wyze Camera

So, updating the OS of the Wyze requires manually uploading the firmware on the camera’s removable SD card.

flash the camera’s firmware

For flashing Wyze v3’s firmware, you will need:

  • A computer with a functional microSD card reader.
  • A microSD card with at least 32 gigabytes of storage.

There’s a feature within the Wyze app that allows manual toggling of the Wyze camera indicator light “ON” and “OFF”.

Hence, you should temporarily toggle the camera’s status lamp to “OFF” to determine whether the blinking blue light is just a bug.

  • To toggle Wyze’s status light, open the Wyze app, then go to “Camera Settings” → “Advanced Settings” → “Toggle Camera Status Light Off/On”.

Wait for several seconds and check if the camera detects motion or attempts to access the live feed.

Then, re-enable the indicator and unplug the Wyze Cam v3 from the power supply for 30 seconds before testing again.

6. Troubleshoot the Wyze App

A problem with the app, even if you’ve already re-added Wyze, might cause functionality issues with the camera and result in a blinking blue light.

Well, there are several solutions to potential problems with the Wyze app, such as updating the system, clearing the cache, and reinstalling.

Let’s try each of these on the Wyze app!

Tip #1 Update

Start by opening the Google Play or App Store on your smartphone, then check if the Wyze app is on the most current firmware version through the “Manage Installed Apps” page.

After the application has been successfully removed, download the most current version through Google Play or the App Store and sign back into your account.

Tip: Allow the Wyze app to update automatically upon reinstalling it.

7. Pair Wyze to a Guest Wi-Fi

pair wyze to a guest wi-fi

Some users managed to resolve the blue light by connecting Wyze to a guest Wi-Fi network first and then switching it back to their router’s primary 2.4 GHz through the app.

Depending on your Wi-Fi router and interface (GUI), the guest Wi-Fi feature may go under a different name (SSID).

Step #1 Access the Web GUI

You will require access to the network router’s web GUI. For this purpose, type “ipconfig” in the CMD of a Windows-operated PC connected to your router.

Then, highlight and copy the default gateway address into your web browser. Alternatively, try opening the GUI “http://192.168.0.1/”.

You will be prompted to sign in using the credentials. The default details can be admin/admin or admin/password

Step #2 Enable Guest Wi-Fi

Once you are in the GUI, navigate to the “Network” or “Wi-Fi” tab, then search for a feature called “Guest Wi-Fi” or “Guest Network”.

Upon enabling it, you will be able to view the guest network’s SSID and password, which you can use through the Wyze app.

Step #3 Pair Wyze with the Guest Wi-Fi

Finally, follow the instructions in solution #2 to manually change the Wyze Cam v3’s Wi-Fi to your router’s guest network.

Open the app and navigate to “Device Information” → “Change Wi-Fi Network”.

If the blue light turns solid upon connecting Wyze to the guest network, try switching it back to your regular 2.4 GHz and check if the issue is resolved.

8. Reset Wyze Camera to Default

An irreversible yet greatly effective solution whenever Wyze Cam v3 is flashing blue light is to perform a factory reset.

All of your camera settings, including the configuration within the app, will be permanently erased, so proceed with caution.

Shortly after, the Wyze camera will power off and enter the “Reset” state.

Do not interact with the device for at least 5 minutes to allow the factory reset to finalize.

Note: If the indicator is still flashing in blue, consider getting in touch with Wyze’s customer support, as there could be a hardware defect with your camera.
