How to Fix When Fetch TV Recording Not Available?
1. Run Hard Drive Diagnostics
The first and crucial step is to run a hard drive diagnostics if your Fetch TV box is not replaying the recordings on demand.
This will scan the drive’s sectors and will potentially let you know if there is something wrong with the hard disk of your box, which prevents the recording playout.
It’s very easy to turn a hard drive diagnostics on the Fetch TV box:
- First, go to the Fetch TV box’s Main Menu.
- From there, go to “Manage” and “Settings.”
- Finally, locate and select the “Diagnostics.”
If the hard drive diagnostics on your Fetch TV box conclude that everything with the disk is intact, you face a software problem.
So, let’s continue reading and find out the actual culprit.
Note: If your hard drive appears defective after the diagnostics, you may not be able to solve the problem with troubleshooting, you’ll need servicing.
2. Try to Record Fetch Correctly
It’s not excluded that you’re not recording correctly on your Fetch TV box, and that’s why your captured shows are not available.
There are three different ways to record on a Fetch TV box, so we recommend trying to record via one of the correct ways and then checking the availability.
Record on Fetch TV: From the Info Bar
When you are watching a show on the Fetch TV box, and you want to start recording, press the “Info” remote button to reveal the Info Bar.
Then, to start capturing, press the “R” remote button once to start recording or twice to configure a series recording.
Record on Fetch TV: From the TV Guide
To check all of your channels and set manual recordings, go to Menu → TV → TV Guide and follow the steps below:
- Use the remote’s arrows to find a channel/program.
- To record, press the “R” button on the Fetch remote.
- Note: Not all TV shows are available for recording.
- Press the “R” button twice to set Series Recording.
- To cancel the recording, press the “Square” button.
- Press the “Paw” button to reveal recording options.
Record Fetch TV: Using Top Shows
Top Shows is a section below the TV Guide, from where it’s very easy to discover new and popular shows to record.
You can either record episodes or set a Team Recording to capture your favourite team games without having to track the time and worry about missing the game.
Here are the steps to record from the Top Shows section:
- On the Fetch TV box, go to the Menu → TV.
- From there, select the “Top Shows” section.
- Use the remote arrows to explore the shows.
- Press the “Paw” button to reveal the info.
- Find a show and highlight “Series Recording.”
- Press the “Paw” button and select “Teams.”
- Find a sporting event and press “Paw” to record.
That’s how to correctly record Fetch TV shows, which will be stored on your box’s hard drive for later viewing.
So after making a new recording, go to Menu → My Stuff → Recordings and try to replay the latest capture. If you still see “not available,” you’ll need some troubleshooting.
3. Soft-Reset Your Fetch TV Box
Sometimes, the recordings on your Fetch TV box may be unavailable because of a temporary system bug that only requires a refresh.
This is why the next step should be to power cycle your Fetch TV box to resolve the problem immediately.
Here’s how to power cycle Fetch the TV box in easy steps:
- First, power “OFF” your Fetch TV box.
- Unplug the power adapter from the outlet.
- Wait at least 60 seconds for a discharge.
- Plug the power adapter back into the outlet.
When the power circulation is over, try to access your Fetch TV box recordings. If you still see “recording not available”, continue reading…
4. Free Up Some Recording Space
The powerful Fetch Mighty recorder comes with a 1 TB hard drive, which equals 1000 GB, and is a lot of recording storage.
So, if you’ve been recording for months and now your captures are not available, it’s not excluded that you’re facing a storage problem on your Fetch recorder.
Typically, such an issue happens when all your recordings are “Protected.” This means that they will not get automatically deleted.
- To delete recordings, go to “Recordings” and choose “Delete Recording.”
If there is insufficient storage, the recordings may be incomplete with missing assets, making them inaccessible for viewing.
This is why it’s essential to find some old recordings and delete them permanently to free up some available storage on your hard drive for the new recordings.
Note: If you want your old recordings to get deleted, so they can free up space, uncheck the “Protect Recording” box.
5. Soft or Hard Reset the TV Box
On the Fetch TV box, there is a specialised way to refresh the box either via “soft reset” or “hard reset”, which is exceptionally helpful against Fetch TV recording problems.
The soft reset will clear all the settings and cache but not erase any of your recordings, while the hard reset will remove everything from your box.
How to Soft Reset Fetch TV Box:
- Power off your Fetch TV box for 30 seconds.
- Turn on the box and quickly grab the remote.
- Within 60 seconds of turning on the box, press:
- Red → Green → Yellow → Blue.
How to Hard Reset Fetch TV Box:
- Turn off the Fetch receiver for 30 seconds.
- Within 60 seconds, grab the remote and press:
- Blue → Yellow → Green → Red.
Note: The soft reset or hard reset has started when the “R” or “Paw” starts flashing red.
6. Factory Reset the Fetch TV Box
The factory reset is the big gun method that will permanently erase all your recordings but will likely solve the issue with the “unavailable” recordings.
This method will not only erase the recordings but will revert all settings to default and provide you with a clean operating system.
Here’s how to factory reset Fetch TV box in easy steps:
- First, navigate to the Fetch Main Screen.
- Then, go to “Manage” and then “Settings.”
- Choose “Device Info” from the side menu.
- Advance to the “Factory settings reset.”
- Finally, enter your PIN and select “Continue.”
These steps will factory reset your Fetch TV box and revert the device to its original state.
So, when ready, go ahead and try recording something using the steps we’ve previously discussed.
When you have made a recording, go to “Recordings” and try to play any of them to check.
