1. Redo the Denon Wi-Fi Protected Setup
By default, most Denon receivers can be paired to Wi-Fi in one of three total ways. Of course, this depends on the type of receiver and the functions it supports.
However, for the most part, all the newest and recently released Denon receiver models can be connected via all the methods.
So, let’s review the simplest method first which involves using the receiver’s menu!
Method #1 Pair the Receiver over “Scan Network”
All Denon receivers have the “Scan Network” feature built in, which allows them to pick up wireless signals like any other Wi-Fi-enabled device.
The setting is accessible through the receiver’s menu, and you can use the supplied remote control to make the connection.
Here’s how to use “Scan Network” on your receiver:
- Press “Setup” on the Denon remote control.
- Select “Network” and head to “Connection.”
- Press on “Wi-Fi Setup” from the configuration.
- Now, press “Scan Network” to proceed further.
- Pick a Wi-Fi network and enter the password.
If the connection is successful, the Denon receiver will exit back to the menu and all features that require the internet will become online.
Method #2 Pair the Receiver over a WPS Router
Follow these steps to connect the Denon receiver over WPS:
- Locate the WPS button on your Wi-Fi router device.
- Now, press the router’s WPS button for 5–6 seconds.
- Locate the “Connect” button on the Denon receiver.
- Hold the button and wait for the devices to connect.
Your router’s WPS activation lasts for approximately 50–60 seconds, during which you need to connect the Denon receiver.
If you fail to activate the receiver’s WPS feature in that specific time frame, you will have to press the router’s WPS again.
Note: This method only works if your router supports the WPS feature and has a “WPS” button on the front or rear panel.
2. Unplug the Receiver From the Power
If the Denon receiver no network connection error persists, we recommend conducting a power cycle.
The procedure involves suspending the power of the receiver for a continuous amount of time to allow all system services to refresh and therefore for any errors to clear.
Here are the instructions to power cycle the Denon receiver:
- Disconnect the power cable from the back of the receiver.
- Next, unplug the other end from the supplying power outlet.
- Wait for 30–45 seconds while the receiver is disconnected.
- Test the receiver after reconnecting the power adapter cable.
Note: Check whether there’s any damage on the power adapter, temporarily remove external equipment from the setup, and connect the receiver to a different outlet.
3. Check for Underlying Network Issues
A potential issue with the network or the involved equipment could be actively preventing the Denon receiver from establishing a secure connection.
To know for certain whether the issue is caused by the network or not, try the following troubleshooting steps on your router/equipment:
- Power cycle your router by unplugging it from the power.
- Reduce the number of devices connected to the network.
- Reduce the overall utilization of the network’s resources.
- Reconnect the service cable from the back of the router.
- Check if the router’s OS is up-to-date and factory reset it.
If none of the steps from above seem to have any effect, get in touch with your ISP to discuss if there are any network-related outages happening right now.
4. Switch to a Wired (Ethernet) Connection
Well, switching to a wired Ethernet connection is another simple solution for the Denon no network connection error.
All it takes to go wired is a standard high-speed Ethernet cable and an available port on your router to connect the receiver.
However, ensure the Denon receiver and router are physically close to each other, so the cable can reach and plug on both ends without having to stay stretched or under pressure.
How to Complete the Denon Ethernet Cable Setup?
In comparison to the Wi-Fi Protected Setup, connecting the Denon receiver over Ethernet does not require additional setup in the settings.
The device should immediately become online as long as the cable is functional, and the physical connection is valid.
Testing some of the receiver’s online functions is perhaps the easiest way to tell if the Ethernet connection is reliable and active.
Tip: Use the yellow ports on your router or gateway to connect the receiver!
5. Pair the Receiver to a Mobile Hotspot
Connecting the Denon receiver to your smartphone’s hotspot is an efficient method of telling whether there’s an issue with the network or not.
If the receiver manages to connect with your phone’s hotspot without an issue but keeps failing the network setup, get in touch with your ISP.
To connect the receiver, you must first enable the hotspot feature in your mobile device:
- For Android, go to “Settings” → “Cellular” → “Hotspot” → “Enable” or “Turn On.”
- For iPhone, head to “Settings” → “Personal Hotspot” → “Allow Others to Join.”
Make sure to also check the SSID and password for the Wi-Fi before exiting the settings of your phone.
Then, follow the “Scan Network” instructions from step #1 to connect your Denon receiver and test it on a mobile hotspot.
6. Reset the Denon Receiver’s System
If all else fails, it’s time for a factory reset.
An irreversible misconfiguration of the system of the receiver may lead to lasting issues with the Wi-Fi/Ethernet connectivity and the volume reproduction ability of the device.
A factory reset will erase all configured system settings and address any potential error codes registered by Denon.
Here’s how to factory reset the Denon receiver:
- Verify the Denon receiver is plugged in and powered on.
- Hold the “Power” button while pressing “CH+” and “CH-.”
- Wait for the front display to start flashing and release.
The flashing of the display indicates that the factory reset procedure has started successfully.
