Peacock Keeps Crashing? (Here’s How to Stop It Now!)
We know how frustrating it is when Peacock keeps crashing in the middle of your episode or immediately after launch.
Don’t worry–Peacock crashing has been known for as long as the app has existed, and has been solved in many different ways.
In this guide, you’ll learn how to:
We will cover many devices with specific instructions, including Samsung TV, Roku, Fire TV, Android TV, and smartphones.
So, no matter your streaming device, let’s fix the crashing!
How to Fix When Peacock Keeps Crashing In 8 Quick Steps!
📍Note: Have you tried force-closing the Peacock app?
1. Check Peacock Service Status

The first thing to do when Peacock keeps crashing on your device is to check the service status and whether the problem is global.
Yes, Peacock TV could freeze and crash when it’s down.
Sadly, Peacock does not have a dedicated service status tracker; hence, you will need to use a third-party link from the web.
Just type in Google “Peacock Status” and use down detectors to see for any reported outages in the last 24 hours.
💡Test on Another Device:
Another quick way to check whether the problem is on your side or affects everyone else is to try using the app on another device.
Peacock is available on smart TV, web browser, console, smartphone, and more, so download the app and check whether it’s crashing elsewhere too.
If you detect a service outage or the app is also crashing on a different device, the problem may not be on your side, so it’s worth waiting a while.
The problem might go away on its own!
2. Soft-Reset the Streaming Unit

The next thing to try is soft resetting or “power cycling” your streaming device, whether it’s a smart TV, smartphone, console, or web browser.
Just unplug your device from the power outlet for ~60 seconds and check whether the crashing problem with the Peacock TV app disappears.
If not, continue reading…
3. Clear Peacock App Cache Data
When the Peacock application keeps crashing on your device, one of the first things to do is clear the cache data.
The cache data is full of temporary files that contain information about your login details, in-app settings, viewed content, and so on…

These files, when piled up over time, can cause the app to lag and eventually start crashing, so clearing the cache data would be able to help.
📍Note: Clearing the cache data on your device will sign you out of your Peacock TV app account and reset all in-app settings to default.
Here’s how to clear the cache on various devices:
| 📺Smart TVs | |
| Samsung TV | Home → Settings → Support → Device Care → Manage Storage → Peacock TV → Clear Cache and Data |
| Roku | Home (press 5 times) → Up (1 time) → Rewind (2 times) → Fast Forward (2 times) |
| Fire TV | Settings → Applications → Manage Installed Applications → Peacock → Clear Cache → Clear Data |
| Android TV | Settings → Apps → See all apps → Peacock → Clear Cache → Clear Data |
| 📱Smartphones | |
| Android | Settings → Apps → Peacock → Storage → Clear Cache → Clear Data |
| iOS | Settings → General → iPhone Storage → Peacock → Offload App → Reinstall App |
📍Note: If you’re experiencing the crashing problem on a browser or console, just reinstall the app or clear the browser’s cache data and cookies.
4. Update Peacock TV App & Device

Another quick thing to try, whether the Peacock app is crashing on a smart TV or a smartphone, is to update both your app and system.
Your device must be connected to the internet, though!
| Update Peacock App: | Update System: | |
| Samsung TV | Home → Apps → Peacock → Update | Home → Settings → Support → Software Update |
| Roku | Home → Streaming Channels → Channel Store → Peacock → Update | Home → Settings → System → System Update |
| Fire TV | Home → Apps → Peacock → More Info → Update | Settings → My Fire TV → About → Check for Updates |
| Android TV | Google Play Store → Peacock → Update | Settings → Device Preferences → About → System Update |
| Android | Google Play Store → My apps & games → Update Peacock | Settings → System → Advanced → System Update |
| iOS | App Store → Search Peacock → Update | Settings → General → Software Update |
When your Peacock TV app and system are up-to-date, check whether you can now stream the application without crashing.
If not, continue reading!
5. Reinstall Apps & Clear Storage

If your Peacock app keeps crashing, perhaps you’re running low on hardware storage on your device, leading to lag and crashing.
When your system storage is full, not only Peacock but also other streaming apps will lag and soon start crashing if not cleared.
The fastest way to clear system storage is to remove apps and content on your device that you don’t need or use.
Here’s how to free up storage by uninstalling apps on various devices:
| Samsung TV | Home → Apps → Settings → Peacock → Delete |
| Roku | Home → Highlight Peacock → * (Options) → Remove Channel |
| Fire TV | Settings → Applications → Manage Installed Applications → Peacock → Uninstall |
| Android TV | Settings → Apps → See all apps → Peacock → Uninstall |
| Android | Settings → Apps → Peacock → Uninstall |
| iOS | Settings → General → iPhone Storage → Peacock → Delete App |
💡Pro Tip: If your storage is intact, just reinstall the Peacock app.
6. Check for Hardware Overheating

If your Peacock app is lagging very hard before crashing, you’re likely not only facing a system slowdown, but also hardware throttling.
This happens when your device is overheating and automatically reduces its performance in order to cope with the heat and prevent HW damage.
So, if you’re using a smart TV, just touch the back panel with the palm of your hand to check if it’s too hot, and if it is, turn it off to cool it down.
Did You Know❓
The biggest factor for overheating is the ambient temperature!
7. Create A New Peacock TV Profile

Sometimes, the Peacock app crashes because of a problem with the application Profile, not your account.
So, by creating a new application profile, you will bypass profile-related crashes and narrow down the origin of the problem.
To create a new Peacock app profile, open the app, go to “Who’s Watching?” and select “New Profile”.
Then you will need to choose an avatar and indicate whether it’s a Kids or Adult profile.
So, if your Peacock TV app stops crashing, chances are that your original profile is bugged out.
8. Disable the Ad-Blocker (Browser)

If you’re streaming Peacock from the web portal, through an online browser, you need to make sure that you have no Ad-Blocker activated.
The Peacock service could be crashing because of your Ad-Blocker trying to bypass ads that you’re supposed to see.
Hence, check your web browser extensions and verify that there is no Ad-Blocker activated.
If there is, either stop it through the settings or remove the extension.
9. Fast-Forward Past the Crashing
If there is a specific Peacock episode or movie that crashes at the exact spot every time, you can fix the issue by fast-forwarding past the crashing timestamp.

Just start the episode from the beginning and fast-forward like 30–40 seconds after the spot, and you get the crashes every time.
This is a temporary solution, but it works when there is a problem with a specific episode or movie on the Peacock app.
