JLab Earbuds Not Turning On – Proven Ways to Fix

If your JLab earbuds are not turning on, the solutions below will help you out…

1. Reinsert your JLab Earbuds

reinsert your jlab earbuds

If the earbuds are failing to turn on right after taking them out of the case, you should place both earbuds back into the case, wait for 10–15 seconds, and take them out.

Reinserting the buds can solve underlying issues with functionality, improper activity status, or false device charging.

Bonus Tip: Wait Until the Earbuds Charge!

While the earbuds are inserted into the case, they will be charged based on the current capacity of the case.

If the case is running low on battery, the JLab earbuds will be charging until a point where the battery is fully depleted, which will trigger the “Standby” mode until connected again.

Note: The frontal LED lamp of the case should blink upon inserting or taking out an earbud.

2. Refill the Charging Case’s Battery

refill the charging case’s battery

If the charging case of the earbuds is not charged to a sufficient capacity, none of the earbuds will charge upon inserting them into the case.

The next step is to reconnect the JLab charging case to a source and wait until the internal battery has reached an optimal level of A/C capacity.

Here’s how to properly recharge the JLab earbuds’ charging case:

  1. Connect the USB cable to the charging case’s port.
  2. Plug the other end of the cable into an A/C adapter.
  3. Connect the adapter to a reliable electrical outlet.
  4. Next, wait until the status LED of the case changes.

How Long Does it Take for JLab to Charge?

On average, your JLab charging case should be charged to a 100% capacity in under 1 hour, if you’re using the original charging equipment.

Charging with a third-party cable or adapter may significantly increase the charging time or potentially decrease it if it is low-performance grade.

Note: You can track the charging status of the case by the frontal LED lamp!

3. Switch your Charging Source

switch your charging source

If charging the case did not work through the current source, you should consider installing the equipment into an alternative charging source.

This will rule out any issues with the charging source, help you determine whether the equipment is faulty, and solve issues with the earbuds.

So, relocate the charging wire and the adapter of the JLab earbuds to another electrical socket, install the equipment, and plug the charging case.

Make sure both earbuds are inserted into the case and the lid is closed before waiting for an optimal refill of the case’s battery.

Bonus Tip: Avoid Third-Party Equipment

avoid third-party equipment

While using a power strip, outlet connector or extender may come in handy, it may hurt the charging ability of the JLab case.

While testing the earbuds, verify that the charging equipment is directly connected to an electrical outlet, without third-party jacks.

Alert: Defective third-party equipment can lead to issues with the connected device!

4. Pair Both Earbuds Individually

If you’re wondering why is one of my JLab earbuds not turning on, you should attempt to pair each of the earbuds individually, to your Bluetooth device.

This can be especially helpful if there’s an issue with the internal link between the two JLab earbuds, preventing the pairing.

pair both earbuds individually

Follow these instructions to pair one of the JLab earbuds individually:

  1. Place both earbuds within the charging case.
  2. Take the left or right earbud out of the case.
  3. Open the Bluetooth settings on your device.
  4. Tap JLab’s connection from the devices list.
  5. Next, wait until the JLab earbud is connected.

Once only one of the earbuds has been paired to your device, insert the earbud into your ear and play any sound from your device.

Ensure your volume is sufficiently increased both from your device’s settings and the earbuds’ hardware, before testing the output of your JLab earbuds.

Tip: Attempt to power on and connect each of the earbuds individually!

5. Clean the JLab Charging Case

Another factor that must be considered involving earbud maintenance is cleaning the electrical poles of the charging case.

If there’s an obstruction or accumulation of debris, blocking the link between the earbuds and the terminals, your earbuds won’t charge and, therefore won’t work.

Follow these simple instructions to clean the case of the JLab earbuds:

  1. First, remove both earbuds from your case.
  2. Apply some rubbing alcohol to an ear stick.
  3. Insert the ear stick into the case and clean it.
  4. Next, wait until the electrical poles fully dry up.
  5. Reinsert the earbuds into the case and test.

Remember that inserting the earbuds into the charging case when the terminals are not fully dry can lead to permanent defects or malfunction of the components.

Pro Tip: You can also use a compressed air sprayer to blow out any debris from the case!

6. Test with Alternative Equipment

The next solution you should attempt is to charge the JLab earbuds using an alternative power adapter and USB charging cable.

We advise initially attempting with a different charging cable and then, implementing a different (prove-to-work) adapter, which will rule out most possibilities.

How to Replace JLab Charging Cable?

All JLab earbuds use an identical USB 2.0/3.0 5V charging cable that must be plugged into a compatible 12V power adapter to achieve a proper charging process.

If your JLab earbuds are not charging with a different cable, consider installing a proven power adapter with the current cable of the JLab earbuds.

Once connected, the frontal LED lamp of the charging case should turn solid orange and then deactivate if your earbuds are charging.

Note: Wait for at least 30–40 minutes until the earbuds and the case are charged optimally!

7. Factory Reset the JLab Earbuds

If you’re still struggling to power the JLab earbuds, you should consider forcing a factory reset on the charging case and the earbuds.

The factory restoration will erase all existing connections of the earbuds, resolve issues with the charging, and address issues with the earbuds’ startup.

  5. Quick tap the right earbud in the case 7 times.
  6. Wait for 30 seconds until the reset is complete.
  7. Take both JLab earbuds out and reconnect them.
