Wyze Cam Pan v3 Not Rotating – 9 Ways to Fix!

Note: Have you manually adjusted your Wyze Cam Pan v3? If so, it might have lost track of its original position and needs to be recalibrated through the Wyze mobile application.

1. Recalibrate the Wyze Camera Position

recalibrate the wyze camera position

Sometimes, your camera motor can get stuck or misaligned, which prevents the camera from completing a full rotation of the monitored area.

Well, there’s a function within the Wyze mobile application that allows for resetting your Wyze camera position and eliminating rotation issues.

Here’s how to reset the Wyze camera position:

  • Open the Wyze app on your phone or tablet.
  • Next, tap on Wyze Cam Pan v3 from the list.
  • Head to “Settings” → “Advanced Settings”.
  • Find “Motor Controls” on the functions page.
  • Select “Reset Position” and then hit “Reset”.

In order for the motor position to reset, the Wyze camera must be plugged in and added to the Wyze mobile application.

Check if your camera starts to rotate slowly right after activating the position reset function through the Wyze app.

2. Power Cycle the Wyze Camera

Internal malfunctions or power insufficiencies in the camera system may prevent your motor from operating, resulting in a stationary field of view.

So, the next step is to initiate a power cycle to restore the Wyze Cam Pan v3’s rotational functionality and ensure your complete monitoring.

power cycle the wyze camera

Here’s how to power cycle the Wyze Cam Pan v3:

  • Unplug the Wyze Cam Pan v3 from the power source.
  • Wait ~10 seconds to let the camera fully power down.
  • Reconnect the A/C adapter and check if it is secured.
  • Test the rotation after the Wyze camera has turned on.

Now, open the live feed and tap on the grid button in the upper-right corner.

Once you’ve made the live feed full screen, tap either of the sides of your phone or tablet screen to check whether the Wyze Cam Pan v3 is capable of completing a full 360° rotation.

3. Attempt to Rotate Wyze Manually

The camera motor might be stuck due to a minor obstruction, preventing smooth rotation. We recommend gently rotating the stand by hand, which can help dislodge any blockage within.

Power off the camera, carefully rotate the lens by hand in both directions, and then power the Wyze Cam Pan v3 back on.

Test the automatic rotation through the app to see if the camera moves freely now.

Note: Avoid forcing the camera to prevent damage to the motor!

Bonus Tip: Unobstruct the Wyze Camera Stand

Check if there’s a foreign object preventing the Wyze camera from completing a rotation.

Ensure there are no obstructions or electronic devices within a 3–5 feet radius from the Wyze Cam Pan v3, to ensure nothing blocks the rotation.

4. Update the Wyze Camera & App

Outdated firmware of either the Wyze camera or mobile application could be the reason why the Wyze Cam Pan v3 won’t rotate.

Hence, it’s important to ensure that Wyze Cam Pan v3 and the Wyze mobile application are on the most current firmware.

How to Update the Wyze Cam Pan v3:

update the wyze cam pan v3
  • Open the Wyze app and go to “Account”.
  • Tap “Firmware Update” from the settings.
  • Follow the instructions if there’s a new OS.
  • Wait until the camera updates and reboots.

How to Update the Wyze Mobile Application:

  • Open the app store on your smartphone.
  • Head to the “Installed Apps” or “Manage” page.
  • Find the Wyze app in the tab and update the OS.

Note: Ensure your smartphone maintains a stable connection to the internet before updating!

5. Conduct a Camera Position Reset

The camera motor can sometimes get stuck, which interferes with its ability to complete a full rotation.

Instead of managing any of the Wyze Cam Pan v3 settings, we recommend conducting a position reset by forcing the camera to rotate through the Wyze app.

So, access the Wyze live feed and follow these steps:

  • Pan the Wyze camera all the way up.
  • Rotate it side to side to the maximum.
  • Repeat Step #1 and Step #2 3–4 times.
  • Next, attempt to conduct partial rotations.

This adjustment is helpful because it resets the range of the Wyze Cam Pan v3 motor and eliminates underlying functionality problems.

6. Invert the Wyze Live Feed 180°

An upside-down camera installation can make the rotation seem off as the motor fails to match with the camera’s original orientation.

You should adjust the image orientation in the camera live feed settings through the Wyze mobile application and then attempt to rotate the camera motor.

invert the wyze live feed 180
  • In the app, go to “Advanced Settings” and select “180 degrees” to invert the image.

Upon accessing the live feed, the orientation controller can be found in the upper-right corner.

There are several orientation adjustments, so make sure to start with 180°, and if that doesn’t work, test each of the available options.

7. Toggle Live Feed “Privacy Mode”

So, the Wyze camera’s privacy mode might be active, pointing the camera lens downward and disabling a lineup function, including the motor’s rotary mechanism.

The feature also obstructs the view and sound of the camera; therefore, toggling it off can help restore normal operation.

toggle live feed “privacy mode”

In the Wyze app, tap the camera’s live feed, find the “Privacy Mode” button, and tap to turn it off.

If it has already been disabled, set it to “ON”, wait for ~10–15 seconds, and set it to “OFF” again to refresh the live feed.

Warning: Do not adjust the camera while it is set to “Privacy Mode”.

8. Clean the Wyze Camera Mechanism

Dust or debris in the Wyze Cam Pan v3 mechanism can obstruct the motor and prevent smooth rotation.

Hence, for the next step, we suggest cleaning the moving parts of the camera carefully to remove potential blockages and free the hardware pieces from dust or debris accumulation.

Let’s start with cleaning the Wyze Cam Pan v3:

  • Disconnect your Wyze Cam Pan v3 from the electrical outlet.
  • After that, use a soft, dry cloth to clean the Wyze lens base.
  • Gently clean around the rotating mechanism to remove debris.
  • Check for any stuck particles and use a can of compressed air.
  • Connect the Wyze Cam Pan v3 and check if the issue persists.

Warning: Do not use any liquid materials to avoid damaging the camera motor!

9. Reset the Wyze Cam Pan v3 to Defaults

Sometimes, whenever the Wyze Cam Pan v3 is not rotating, it could be due to a system glitch.

The Wyze camera system can stop the motor entirely from turning and disable all of the rotary.

That’s why we recommend a clean factory reset to erase all of the Wyze camera settings and check if the rotation functionality returns.

Here’s how to factory reset the Wyze Cam Pan v3:

  • Make sure your Wyze Cam Pan v3 is plugged in.
  • Press and hold the Setup button on the bottom.
  • Keep holding that button for 10 seconds straight.
  • Release and wait 30 seconds until Wyze reboots.

On average, the factory reset for the Wyze Cam Pan v3 and any other Wyze model takes about 1 to 5 minutes to complete.

It’s important to cease all interactions with the camera in that period to avoid disrupting the reset.

Note: Once the reset is complete, re-add your camera from the app to reconfigure all settings!
