What Causes Poor Connection VaVa Baby Monitor?
The “Poor Connection” message on the VaVa baby monitor is a cause for concern as a parent because you completely lose access to the live view.
The primary reason for a monitor’s poor signal problem is related to any problem with the camera, so we will dive deep into the causes.
Your Vava baby monitor’s poor connection could be due to:
These are the most common suspects for poor connection on your Baby Monitor that we’ll be troubleshooting in the next section.
So, let’s proceed with the fixing steps!
How to Fix the VaVa Baby Monitor’s Poor Connection?
To restore the connection with the camera, we will use a list of methods against this problem. Let’s jump in!
1. Restart the Baby Monitor & Camera
The first and most effective step you should attempt against the poor connection is to restart both the monitor and camera.
Sometimes, the monitor and camera can’t connect due to some technical glitches and by simply performing a restart, you will be able to refresh the connection.
Here is how to restart the VaVa camera and monitor easily:
- Turn off the monitor via the Power button.
- Then, eject the batteries from your monitor.
- Unplug the camera from the power outlet.
- Wait for about 60 seconds for a discharge.
- Plug in the camera and turn on the monitor.
Once the unit boots up, then the camera will display a solid green light, indicating that it’s re-synced with the baby monitor. In case the connection issue persists, go to the next step.
2. Check the Monitor Battery Level
The battery on your VaVa Baby Monitor lasts for about 24 hours, depending on the model and device usage.
If your monitor is low on charging, it automatically disconnects from the camera and causes a connection error.
Check the battery level and charge it to restore the connection.
Here is how to check the VaVa monitor battery level:
- Navigate to the VaVa monitor screen.
- Then, find the Battery icon at the top.
- Check the “Battery Level” from there.
- Or, press the Power, on the parent unit.
- Keep pushing the button for 3 seconds.
If the Vava baby monitor battery charge is very low, then charge it for about 2–3 hours, which will stop any battery throttling and hopefully resolve the poor connection.
Reminder: Remember that the charging time may vary between the models!
VaVa Monitor Battery Not Charging?
If your monitor can’t charge when plugged in, it could indicate a malfunction with the battery, which is something that you can’t fix at home.
So, consider buying a replacement battery online.
3. Check the Camera Power Source
The poor connection on the VaVa baby monitor can also occur because of any issues with the camera’s power supply.
To fix it, try removing and plugging the camera again into the power outlet, which should help resolve any issues that are interfering with the monitor’s performance.
Follow these steps to check the camera power source:
- Power OFF your camera using the Power button.
- Unplug the camera power adapter from the outlet.
- Blow into the outlet to clear any chances of debris.
- Then, firmly connect the camera back to the outlet.
- Also, make sure the adapter is not loosely plugged.
As the camera boots up, the monitor will automatically connect and start streaming the live view.
If the Vava baby monitor still won’t connect, you must test the power outlet by plugging any other electronics into the camera’s outlet.
Important: Connect your device directly into the socket by avoiding third-party connectors!
4. Plug Camera in a Different Outlet
If you are sure that the monitor battery is charged and the camera outlet is working fine but still the poor connection error is appearing, test with a different outlet.
We recommend trying with an outlet in another room, which is connected to a different fuse from the primary circuit breaker.
To plug your VaVa camera into a different outlet, the process is quite simple. Simply unplug the camera from its original outlet, and after that, plug it into another outlet (directly).
You can test if this outlet works correctly by plugging a smartphone charger or a lamp to detect fluctuations.
If the poor connection issue is still there, the power outlet is not the culprit. So keep reading.
5. Remove and Re-Add the Camera
Another effective method you should attempt when the VaVa baby monitor keeps saying poor connection is to remove and add the camera again.
Doing this thing will clear out all the connection-related issues with the monitor and allow you to freshly set the devices, which fixes connection issues.
Follow these steps to remove and re-add the VaVa camera:
- On the monitor, press the Menu button.
- Locate and choose your “Camera” icon.
- Click on the Bin icon to delete a camera.
- Next, choose the + icon to add a camera.
As the monitor connects to the camera, it’ll start streaming the live feed. If the poor connection problem continues even after re-adding the camera, you may be facing an interference issue.
We’ll address interference in the next step…
6. Shorten the Distance Proximity
In case nothing by far works out for you, check the distance between the baby monitor and the camera, as this is a key to optimal performance.
Make sure that the monitor and camera are not placed too far from each other and also from the Wi-Fi router as well.
- The space between the units mustn’t be more than 1.5 m/4.9 ft apart!
To fix the distance issue, simply try to place the monitor and camera nearer to each other as much as possible.
If you can, put them right next to each other just to test whether the problem will still be there.
This can eliminate the possibility of distance interference causing the issues.
Important: Check for RF Interference!
Another possibility for a poor connection on your VaVa Baby Monitor can be radio frequency interference from other electronics.
The VaVa monitor operates on a specific RF channel, and when another device uses the same radio frequency, it will block the unit’s signal transmission.
Here is what can cause the RF interference:
- Wi-Fi routers or extenders
- Refrigerators and mirrors
- Microwaves and Bluetooth
- Wi-Fi speakers or headsets
- Other Vava baby monitors
Check whether any such objects/devices are placed between the camera and monitor.
If placed, try turning them off or moving them away, so they can’t block the signals from your Vava monitor.
7. Factory Reset the VaVa Monitor
If you have tried all the previous steps and the poor connection problem persists, we suggest resetting the Vava monitor to its default settings.
Doing this will eliminate any configuration and software issues with the device and allow you to set it up freshly, without connectivity issues.
Here is how to reset the VaVa monitor in easy steps:
- Unplug your camera from the electrical outlet.
- On the baby monitor, press the Menu button.
- Press on the gear icon to access the Settings.
- Locate and choose the “Factory Reset” option.
- Repeat the steps 2–4 three times consecutively.
- Then, connect the camera to the power outlet.
- Lastly, press the OK button and wait 2 minutes.
When the monitor is reset, try connecting both devices and check if your issue is resolved now!
Quick Tip: If the issue persists, contact VaVa Support and report your monitor issue!
