HyperX QuadCast Not Turning On? Here’s the FIX You NEED!
If HyperX QuadCast not turning on, even when connected, it’s time for a thorough inspection!
HyperX QuadCast connects to a PC by using a USB Mini B to USB-A 2.0 cable and plugs into an available port.
This is enough to provide power for the microphone to start functioning and if yours is not turning on, you must inspect the settings, cable connector, audio drivers, and more.
If your HyperX QuadCast is not turning on, reconnect the USB cable, unmute your mic, update the system’s audio drivers, and reinstall the mic’s profile.
Also, you may need to adjust the PC power plan, and factory reset your HyperX.
Let’s unwrap the possible suspects!
Why is HyperX QuadCast Not Turning On With PC?
Here are the potential reasons why HyperX QuadCast is not turning on when connected:
- Fatly cable or loose USB connection.
- The microphone is “ON” but is muted.
- An outdated computer’s audio drivers.
- A bug or glitch in the mic’s recognition.
- A software issue with the microphone.
It doesn’t sound like much, but there is a lot to troubleshoot, so let’s jump in!
HyperX QuadCast Not Turning On – Here’s What to Try!
Note: Verify your HyperX QuadCast microphone’s USB cable is in working condition!
1. Re-Plug the QuadCast’s USB Connector
If the HyperX QuadCast microphone fails to start in unison with the system, there could be a problem with the physical USB connection with the PC or laptop’s case.
Many QuadCast enthusiasts shared that in case of a startup issue, re-seating the microphone’s USB can help.
So, unplug the Mini-B connector from the back of the microphone and disconnect the other end of the cable from your computer.
Wait for at least 15–20 seconds and reconnect the plug. When ready, test your microphone!
Bonus Tip: Use a Back USB Port
We strongly recommend connecting your HyperX QuadCast to one of the computer’s back USB ports, which are directly from the motherboard.
Thus, if you use one of the front USB ports, that are on the PC chassis, there is a high chance that the voltage is weaker, or the port is defective.
Note: Most computers have 2–3 USB ports on the back!
2. Unmute your HyperX QuadCast
Unlike other microphones, muting the HyperX QuadCast causes the LED backlight to go off, which may confuse some users that the microphone isn’t turning on.
The next step is to ensure the HyperX QuadCast is not muted by tapping on the mic’s upper panel surface with your hand.
How to Mute/Unmute HyperX QuadCast?
For easy user access, HyperX QuadCast has integrated the Mute button into the top panel of the microphone stand and made it touch-responsive.
After a slight tap or hover on the upper part of the QuadCast, the device will be automatically muted, and the LED backlight will go off.
3. Cycle Through the Mic Polar Patterns
The HyperX’s regular and “S” versions come with up to 4 functionality modes called “Polar Patterns,” altering how the mic picks up sound.
You can set the HyperX QuadCast to “Stereo,” “Omnidirectional,” “Cardioid” or “Bidirectional,” based on your voice pick-up preferences.
How to Cycle Through QuadCast’s Patterns?
Use the small rotary wheel on the front side of the microphone, right underneath the “Action” button to select one of the 4 available polar patterns.
After selecting a new pattern, unplug the HyperX microphone’s Mini-B connector, power off your system, and wait for at least 30 seconds.
Lastly, reinstall the mic’s USB connector and reboot the PC to test the QuadCast’s functionality!
Note: The selected mode influences the startup of the QuadCast.
