Babysense Monitor Temperature Not Working? (Quick Fix)
If your Babysense monitor temperature not working we have a fix, so stay with us through this guide!
The Babysense equipment is designed to automatically sense and transcribe the temperature status in your baby’s room, thanks to a temperature camera sensor.
If the temperature status does not appear at all or isn’t accurate, we recommend attempting the following:
So, keep reading further for a complete simplification of the steps above!
How to Fix Babysense Monitor Temperature Not Working?
Note: Have you checked if the Babysense monitor has crashed or frozen?
1. Adjust Camera’s Stand Attachment
Not securing the Babysense camera with the stand may result in loose attachments and problems with the temperature readings.
So, the first step is to double-check how well your Babysense camera is connected, by removing it from the stand and placing it back on the pins.
Here’s how to detach Babysense from the camera stand:
- First, dismount the Babysense camera from your stand slot.
- Rotate the camera eye on the opposing side of the antenna.
- Use the in-app controls to do a full rotation of the camera unit.
- Ensure the stand’s arm is well-tightened and secured in place.
- Place your camera back on top of the stand’s holder and test.
Note: If the camera’s stand is loose or unsecured, resulting in the camera leaning forward or potentially falling down, this could break the temperature detection consistency.
2. Hard Reset the Babysense Camera
If the temperature reading is still incorrect or doesn’t appear on the display at all, a hard reset might be a helpful method to attempt.
The procedure involves suspending your camera’s electrical supply temporarily until all of the residue voltage drains and the camera remains powerless.
Follow these steps to hard reset the Babysense camera:
- Disconnect the prong jack from your camera’s back.
- Unplug the other end of the cable from the A/C outlet.
- Wait for 30–40 seconds while the unit is disconnected.
- Reconnect the cable on both ends and test the camera.
The Babysense camera is responsible for measuring the temperature and humidity of your baby’s room, whereas the monitor’s sole task is to display it.
If the temperature doesn’t appear at all, it’s more likely that the fault is with the camera, rather than the monitor.
Bonus Tip: Since the monitor does not use consistent power, hold the “Power” button for 15 seconds to perform a “forced” reset.
3. Stretch Out the Temperature Sensor
The Babysense camera uses a separate temperature sensor that can be moved and stretched from the camera body.
If the sensor is too close to your camera’s hardware, it may overheat and even malfunction for short periods of time, causing issues with the temperature status.
The sensor can be regulated relatively easily, as all you have to do is grip the sensor and pull it outwards of the camera body.
It uses an extendable cable, so pull it all the way for an effective temperature reading.
Important: Position the Camera Correctly!
Although this is rarely the cause of the problem, improper positioning of the Babysense cam and therefore the sensor could impair the temperature detection.
Mind the following tips to position the Babysense camera properly:
- Position the camera so it has a full view of the child.
- Avoid placing the Babysense unit in enclosed spaces.
- The camera must be within 6 feet of your baby’s crib.
- Avoid placing the camera near other wireless devices.
Wireless interference is quite a significant factor when it comes to the camera’s positioning.
The monitor maintains a 2.4 GHz frequency connection with all of the camera units, which can be easily interfered with.
4. Configure the Temperature Alert Settings
One of the reasons why Babysense monitor not showing temperature is because of misconfigured temperature alert settings.
The alert has both a “High” and “Low” threshold for the temperature, meaning that Babysense will notify you if the temperature ever reaches either of these borders.
Here’s how to adjust the temperature alert settings of Babysense:
- Press the three horizontal lines–Menu button on the Baby monitor.
- Use the “Down” arrow to highlight the “Settings” (cogwheel) icon.
- Press on “OK” and scroll to the “Temperature Alert” option below.
- Press “OK” again and highlight the “Low Temp Alert Settings” tab.
- Next, assign a value for the lower threshold of the temperature alert.
- Back in the “Alert” menu, select “High Temp Alert Settings” in the tab.
- Then, assign a value for the higher threshold of the temperature alert.
Reminder: Anytime the temperature in your baby’s room strikes either of these thresholds, you will be automatically notified through the app or monitor.
5. Clean Babysense’s Temperature Antenna
As established, all of Babysense’s cameras have an external antenna for temperature measurements.
If the antenna is for some reason clogged, obstructed, or impaired, it will impact the temperature readings of your Babysense monitor.
Here’s how to clean the antenna of your Babysense camera:
- Apply rubbing alcohol to a piece of microfiber cloth.
- Disconnect the camera from the electric A/C outlet.
- Use the cloth to thoroughly clean the antenna surface.
- Check if there’s more dust accumulation on the camera.
- Wait until the camera dries up fully and plug it back in.
Unfortunately, the temperature antenna is welded with an internal holder, meaning it cannot be removed from the camera.
Keep in mind that if you’re qualified to disassemble the camera and possess knowledge about technical devices, this will void the Babysense product’s warranty!
6. Perform a Complete Camera Reset
If the Babysense monitor not showing temperature after trying all of our solutions, it’s recommended to conduct a full factory reset of the monitor.
Well, it takes approximately 20 seconds for all of the monitor’s settings to be erased, which includes the custom temperature configurations, and all other custom options.
Follow these simple steps to restore Babysense to factory defaults:
- Locate the “RESET” button on the back of your camera.
- Hold the button for about 10 seconds to start the reset.
- Next, wait until the monitor’s screen goes off temporarily.
- Release the button right after the monitor unit powers off.
- Wait for 30–40 seconds until the factory reset is complete.
After the reset, your Babysense monitor will be disconnected from the network and all of its settings will be erased.
You must redo the setup and activation steps through the Babysense app on your smartphone.
Quick Tip: While the monitor is resetting, reinstall the Babysense app from your smartphone!
