The Complete Eufy S340 Setup Guide! – Get Ready in 7 Steps!

Note: Check whether all the necessary equipment is available!

1. Choose the eufy Camera Placement

choose the eufy camera placement

The first step is to choose a location for your SoloCam S340 to make sure it captures the FOV appropriately.

The eufy SoloCam must be installed at an approximate height of about ~10 feet to enhance the motion detection.

Position the camera at a slight angle (15°/30°) to cover the intended monitoring area effectively.

This also helps to avoid direct alignment with the area to prevent blind spots and ensures fully functional motion detection coverage for consistent alerts and notifications.

Let’s review some popular placement ideas for the eufy S340:

  • Front Porch: Ideal for monitoring deliveries and visitors by capturing your home entry.
  • Driveway: Perfect for tracking any vehicles and unknown cars parked in your driveway.
  • Backyard: Intended for monitoring all of the outdoor spaces and potential intruders.

It is also important to note that the eufy S340 design allows the camera to distinguish humans, pets, and vehicles using advanced AI technology.

This furthermore enhances the monitoring capabilities of the unit and allows it to be more accurate with the detections.

2. Install the Eufy S340 Solar Panel

install the eufy s340 solar panel

One of the most important steps during the eufy SoloCam S340 setup is the installation of the solar panel accessory, which provides consistent charging for your camera.

The solar panel by itself must be outside, preferably facing the sun directly, to recharge your eufy S340 efficiently.

Now, let’s have a look at the solar panel installation procedure!

Step #1: Prepare the Bracket:

Step one of the solar panel installation is using the positioning card to mark the drill holes for the stand.

This must be done precisely, hence, if you have never drilled into a wall, it is best to consult with a friend who can help you with this step of the installation.

Step #2: Secure the Bracket:

Connect the solar panel to the bracket by twisting it into place, then connect it to your camera using the provided USB-C extension cord.

This USB Type-C cable establishes the connection between the camera and solar panel, which makes sunlight charging possible.

Step #3: Adjust the Solar Panel:

adjust the solar panel:

Tilt the solar panel surface to a 20º–30º angle to optimize the sunlight exposure throughout the entire day.

The solar panel needs to be directly exposed to sunlight for about ~2–3 full hours a day, to recharge the camera for over 24 hours continuously.

Note: If your eufy S340 is not charging with the solar panel, please refer to this quick fix guide!

3. Drill Holes for the Camera Mount

The next step is to securely mount the SoloCam S340 using the included positioning card.

This tool is intended to precisely mark the drilling spots for your eufy camera at the installation location, which ensures proper alignment for stability and error-free motion detection capability.

drill holes for the camera mount

Use a 15/64 inch drill bit to drill the holes in the installation location, then insert the provided anchors in the camera set into the holes.

This guarantees the camera stays solid at all times, even during heavy weather conditions, which could lead to persistently missed events/alerts.

Note: Do not over-tighten the anchors, as this could damage the infrastructure of your wall and the installation location itself.

4. Secure the Camera in the Bracket

The final step of the SoloCam S340 physical installation is to mount the unit to the wall bracket to engage the monitoring.

Configure the eufy camera as required to ensure it faces towards the monitoring area properly and double-check that all screws are tightened securely (no wobbling).

Once you’re done, verify that the eufy S340 camera stays solid by using your hand to check for looseness.

Ensure the stand is properly drilled, and once the camera remains solid after letting it go, proceed with the software setup of the S340…

5. Download & Install the Eufy Security App

download & install the eufy security app

The eufy Security app allows you to remotely control the eufy S340 camera and access all of the important settings, such as motion detection and recording.

So, downloading the app on your smartphone is quite an important step throughout the eufy Security SoloCam S340 setup.

To download the app, open the Google Play Store for Android or the App Store for iOS devices and search for “eufy Security” in the search bar.

After that, create or sign in to your account.

Once the installation is complete, verify the app is granted all permissions, ensure the icon is visible on your homepage, and proceed to register the camera…

6. Add the S340 Camera to the Eufy Application

Moving forward, another quite important aspect of the setup is to register the S340 camera in the eufy Security application you have just downloaded on your smartphone.

The registration step introduces the important functionalities of your camera on the go.

Let’s start with assigning the S340 camera to the mobile application:

  • Launch the eufy Security app on your device and tap “Add Device“.
  • Tap “SoloCam (eufyCam Solo/Pro)” or “SoloCam Solar” from the list.
  • Follow the in-app instructions to connect the camera to the Wi-Fi.
  • Press the SYNC button on the eufy SoloCam S340 to initiate pairing.
  • After that, scan the QR code displayed in the app using the camera.
  • Name your camera and finalize the setup process in the application.

Then, verify that the eufy S340 camera appears as “Online” within the application once the setup is complete.

You can access a list of all devices added to the eufy application through the “Home” section of the app.

7. Adjust Important Eufy S340 Settings (Optional)

Well, perhaps the final stage of the eufy S340 setup is configuring the important settings of the device as referenced in the eufy user guide.

Some of these settings include motion detection, the activity zones in which the camera detects, and last but not least, the recording settings.

Let’s start with the most important and build our way up!

Motion Detection

motion detection

Adjust the motion sensor sensitivity to balance the detection accuracy of the camera, using Motion Test Mode to find the ideal level.

Do not forget to also specify the Detection Type (“All Motions” or “People“) to reduce the false positives as much as possible.

You can access the motion detection settings for each of your added eufy cameras through “Settings” → “Motion Detection” in the menu.

Note: Misconfiguring the motion detection settings could prevent the eufy detection.

Activity Zones

Set up specific activity zones within the camera view to focus the motion detection only on relevant areas from the FOV.

Multiple zones can be defined, helping the camera stay online by reducing network strain from excessive alerts.

Same as with the motion detection, the activity zones can be configured under “Motion Detection” in the menu of the camera.

Recording Settings

Moving on, it is also crucial to choose a Recording Mode from Motion-Triggered or Scheduled, based on your monitoring needs.

Do not forget to set the camera resolution and any other important settings under the motion detection tab.

Based on the storage of your camera, all of your recordings will appear under one directory, accessible through the eufy Security application.

Night Vision

Configure the Night Vision settings of the camera to enhance the camera performance under dark conditions and acquire a better idea of overnight motion detection.

This ensures the camera functions reliably at night and alerts you to all of the events happening throughout the night via a push notification.

Note: Don’t forget to check the eufy Security app notification status as well, if you prefer to receive real-time alerts.
