Beats Fit Pro Microphone Not Working – Proven Fix
Info: The guide below consists of 7 chronological troubleshooting steps!
1. Check the Output Device
While on call and there are multiple output devices connected to your mobile via Bluetooth or jack, you will be able to manually select which one to use.
If speaking through the “Phone” app, tapping the speaker icon once will bring up all output devices, including your phone’s speaker.
How to Check Output While On Call on Android?
- Press the speaker icon, on the On-Call page.
- Choose “Speaker” or “Android” from the menu.
- Test if the microphone of the earbuds now works.
How to Check Output While On Call on Apple iOS?
- Dial a recipient or pick up a cellular call.
- Take the earbuds out of the charging case.
- Tap on the speaker icon to open the menu.
- Next, tap on the “iPhone” or “Speaker” option.
Notice: The “Speakers” and “Device” output options are available by default while in a call!
2. Reinsert the Beats Fit Earbuds
In case the microphone of the earbuds is still not activating while you’re on call, you should place the earbuds back into the case and take them out.
This can fully restore the functionality of the earbuds and address issues with the charging capacity and the internal earbud battery.
Here’s how to reinsert the Beats Fit Pro earbuds to fix the microphone:
- Put your Beats Fit Pro earbuds into the charging case.
- Close the charging case’s lid and wait for 30 seconds.
- Take both earbuds out and insert them into your ears.
- Finally, test the microphone by accepting a call/dialing.
Bonus Tip: Charge the Beats Case!
If the earbuds aren’t charging while inserted into the case, connect the case’s USB-C cable to the charging port on the bottom of the case.
So, take out both earbuds, wait for at least 30–40 minutes until the Beats Fit Pro case has charged sufficiently, and then place the buds back in.
Notice: The charging case must reach at least 50% of the battery to recharge the buds properly.
3. Set the Microphone to “Automatic”
If you’ve accidentally configured your mobile device’s microphone to activate particularly while the left or right earbud is inserted, you must set it to “Automatic.”
The “Automatic” feature of the Beats Fit Pro allows the earbud’s microphone to adjust accordingly to the earbud that is in use.
How to Adjust Microphone Settings On Android?
- Open the “Settings” application on your Android.
- Tap on “Privacy” and select “App Permissions.”
- Navigate to the “Microphone” tab on the page.
- Toggle all applications with the green switch.
- Next, tap on “Call” or “Cellular Call” from the list.
- Set the microphone to “Automatic” while talking.
How to Adjust Microphone Settings On iOS?
- Launch the “Settings” application on your iOS.
- Navigate to “Sounds & Haptics” from the page.
- Tap the slider at the top and select “Automatic.”
How to Use the Microphone with a Single Earbud?
As long as the microphone is set to “Automatic,” taking one of the earbuds out will automatically activate the microphone in the remaining earbud that’s inserted into the ear.
So, you can set the microphone to “Left Earbud” or “Right Earbud,” but it won’t work if only one earbud is inserted.
Note: On some Android devices, you may have to save the changes on the mobile device!
4. Forget & Re-Add the Beats Fit Pro
You can address issues with the Beats Fit Pro by erasing the Bluetooth profile from your wireless device and re-adding the earbuds again.
Once you have paired the earbuds to your device, the Bluetooth profile is created automatically within the settings for quick pairing.
How to Forget & Re-Add Beats Fit On Android?
- Launch the “Settings” application on your Android.
- Next, locate the Beats Fit Pro profile within the tab.
- Tap on the “Settings” button next to the connection.
- Next, scroll down and select “Remove This Device.”
- Finally, complete the Bluetooth setup of the Beats.
How to Forget & Re-Add Beats Fit On iOS?
- Open the “Settings” application on your iOS device.
- After that, tap the “Info” icon next to the connection.
- Next, scroll down and press on “Forget this Device.”
- Place the Beats earbuds back into the charging case.
- Take the buds out and complete the Bluetooth setup.
Alert: Forgetting the earbuds will also erase any configured settings of the device!
5. Clean the Microphone Compartment
Each of the Beats Fit Pro earbuds has a microphone compartment that transmits the quality of your voice to the recipient.
In case of an obstruction within that compartment, your voice may sound muffled on the other end or be blocked entirely, based on the type of your obstruction.
Here’s how to clean the microphone opening of the Beats Fit Pro:
- Apply some rubbing alcohol to a soft ear stick.
- Locate the microphone on both of the earbuds.
- Use the earstick to collect any debris and dust.
- Optional: Use compressed air for dust removal.
- Test the microphone after the buds fully dry up.
Alert: Be extremely careful while using the ear stick to avoid damaging the buds’s hardware!
6. Unpair Beats From Other Devices
An existing wireless connection with multiple Bluetooth devices simultaneously may congest the signal transmitted by the Beats Fit Pro and prevent the microphone’s activation.
So, to address Bluetooth receiver interference, you should “Forget” other Bluetooth profiles from your mobile.
- So, access the settings of a device that has the profile of your Beats Fit Pro, press on “Manage” or “Info” and tap on “Forget this Device.”
How Does Automatic Bluetooth Pairing Work?
Upon opening the lid of the charging case, the earbuds will pair automatically with a device that has the profile of your Beats Fit Pro.
For the automatic pairing to work, the headphones must be within 10–15 feet range of the remembered device upon opening the lid of the charging case.
Important: Also verify that your mobile is not paired with different earbuds or other devices!
7. Factory Reset the Beats Fit Pro
You can address existing malfunctions of the Beats Fit Pro’s microphone by restoring the system of the earbuds to factory defaults.
Potentially misconfigured activity settings can lead to degraded microphone sound, audio broadcast interruptions, or issues with the power supply.
Here’s how to perform a factory reset on the Beats Fit Pro:
- First, put both earbuds within the charging case.
- After that, leave the lid of the charging case open.
- Hold the “System” button for up to ~15 seconds.
- Release the button once the LED lamp flashes.
- Wait until your Beats Fit Pro is factory-restored.
Remember that the factory reset will erase the profile of the Beats Fit Pro from all Bluetooth devices that have been previously used with the earbuds.
You must manually reconnect the Beats to your Bluetooth device and test the functionality of the in-built Beats Pro microphone.
Note: Releasing the “System” button early will prevent the earbuds from resetting!
Quick Recap
To fix whenever the Beats Fit Pro microphone not working, reinsert the earbuds, refill the charging case’s battery, and “Forget” the earbuds’s connection.
Also, unpair the earbuds from other devices and force a factory reset.
